I haven't posted in a long time, but a couple months ago I managed to do a beautiful braid in my hair. I took pictures thinking that I would post them on LHC, but haven't done so until now. Later that day at the bank I got a complement from some guy, and he asked if I had braided it myself, and I was proud to tell him that I had.

I don't know the name of the braid, but someone posted instructions on here a while ago. It's like an inside-out Dutch braid, or something. If you have the link handy, please post it so others can see!

That looks awesome! I remember the directions you're talking about. It's like a french braid with the dutch look, because in an actual dutch braid the direction of the strands appears flipped. That one has the french style, but in snazzy new age 3D!

I am not sure why, but I prefer the look of the dutch braid to the french braid. I do one at night to get my hair out of the way when I sleep. I also like the fact that it feels a bit tighter than a french braid.

That's awesome!! I love it, it's almost like a braid started at the top of your head, and is just resting on your head. :D Yes, usually the Dutch braid pops out like that, but is inverted to where it looks like an upside down tulip pattern rather than rightside up. Terrific job, totally deserved those compliments! :flower:

Wow, that looks great! How did you get it to be so neat? I always have plenty of shorter hairs sticking every each way all over the braid...

That is wonderful smooth and straight. No wonder you got compliments.
I remember the "Dutch braid as a French braid" instructions, but I didn't see the point at the time. Now I understand.

Gorgeous! I remember that post also (here: http://forums.longhaircommunity.com/showthread.php?t=38184&highlight=Dutch+braid), and it took me a while to understand the difference, but now I use this one rather than the Dutch braid.

I've been calling it an "inside-out French braid" but there must be a name for it!

Wait...now I'm really confused. This is a french braid? But it looks like a dutch braid only upside down? I can french braid very easily; dutch takes more thinking energy. Gotta practice this one! This is really pretty! Thanks for posting your photos lizzyjo!

And thanks for linking instructions SheaLynne!

Wow! You did that yourself!? I am amazed. It seems like whenever I try to do things behind my line of sight, my orientation gets flipped and everything gets screwy.:p
Great job. Your hair is absolutley beautiful!
I'm really new here and wish I could see everyone's albums. I love the pictures!

Huh! Never thought if it! How cool it that? It behaves like dutch braid, but it's actually a french braid!:silly: Braids are awesome! :crush:

Thanks for sharing, it looks very neat - no wonder you've got a compliment! :D

Oh yeah, I love that braid. And I remember that thread. Dutch braids have always been too loose for my comfort and my French braids have always just looked neater. This holds as well as a French, but still has the Dutch look, which I love. :) You did an amazing job! It looks beautiful!

No matter how hard I try, I'm not able to make such a neat braid. Infact mine is not that long too. Your work is very neat and you poses a very long and soft hair. Keep it up.. :)
