Okay, although my hair is now a good deal shorter than what I started with, the overall condition of my hair is soooo much better that I simply cannot mourn the length. I have about six inches of damage to cut off, but I don't want to yet because my hair just started fitting into a bun with one u pin.

Okay for the pictures...

I think this was a maybe a month and a half before I joined LHC, just after about an inch trim off my straggliest layer. It was pretty long but the entire length had been eaten by too much chlorine in the water.

About 1 year ago, heavily oiled and blow dried. You can see how red my hair gets in the sun, especially when it's sunbleached or damaged.

9/15/09. Just before a trim, almost at waist.

10 days later, I trimmed again. Yes, both were big trims. This is about 25 inches.

5/10/10. A couple of trims later, here I am an inch or two above BSL, freshly washed with slightly wavy hair so it looks shorter. Layers are long gone and so is most of the damage. I hate the super blunt look I have now, but I cut it that way for all my hair to come into a braid at the same length. It buns better too. My good hair is now past chin. You can see the close up on the condition of my hair. I love it!

Here's my braid.

My bun finally makes it around one whole loop and stays.

Someone posted a link to a youtube video on another thread about fake bangs. I had to try it out because I've been thinking about making some for a couple of years now. Honestly, I love them. The funny thing is you can see how bad my ends are compared to the rest of my hair. They're red and strawlike. What do you think, bangs?

http://forums.longhaircommunity.com/picture.php?albumid=3128&pictureid=71571
I had to try it with a hat and this is the only one I've got. You can see the loop of hair hanging in the back.

There are more pictures in my albums if anyone cares to see them.

ETA: Here's my "best hair day" pic from a thread awhile back.

Wow, what a difference! You hair really looks so beautiful and thick. Really wonderful progress, GoddesJourney. :blossom: I'm looking forward to seeing what the next year brings.

And I must say, you'd look adorable with bangs. However, it really is a commitment, as it takes a long time to grow them out. 2 week rule. :)

I love the bangs on you :) Adorable!

Your hair is so gorgeous! I love how thick it is!

I also like the bangs. I am going w FrannyG though, wait 2 weeks, at least! Bangs are a major commitment. And although they look great on you, only you know how well you can handle hair in your face, the days you DON'T want bangs, the growing out process etc.

Thanks for sharing. I think your hair has come a long way, it looks great. And I understand about the trims. Trust me, the length will come in, and you will be so much more respectful of it without the damage. I'm there right now, just reached waist after ... years! Good luck & have fun growing.

Holy gorgeous hair batman!

You've made incredible progress. I so admire you for trimming as much as you did, it looks so much healthier!!! I'm such a wuss but I think once I get around waist I'll try to trim off some of the damage.

I've had bangs for years and if you're gonna go for them I would suggest cutting cheekbone length side-swept ones first, as they'll still be long enough to get out of the way if need be. Then from there, if you want to do the straight across fringe you can trim them up! I swear my bangs grow twice as fast as the rest of my head, but I can't imagine my hair without them (high forehead, round face, I need to break it up somehow). They're really not a huge deal to pin back or to the side if they bother you... but it's definitely worth consideration!

Great job, looks beautiful :D

I had the sideswept C cut bangs a few years ago, but I got tired of them pretty quick because they never looked right. I wonder if the condition of my hair now would make that better since I CO now. Also, I don't style my hair at all. I think the "forehead" ones look better on me simply because I have a really long face. It's much rounder now, but I've been working out a lot again and I think that will change before too long. I was looking at pictures of myself today and I had a REALLY skinny face. I looked great with bangs as a kid, but I was also much cuter then in general. My dad teases me that I used it all up by the time I was eight, which is probably around when my front teeth and other jaggeds fully grew in to create that nice "shark mouth" effect. Whoever invented braces was a genius.

Your hair looks great!

I like the bangs, but like Franny said, they are high maintenance. Bangs don't always look perfect like that :o, unfortunately.

Maybe clip in bangs if you want to experiment?

If it were me, I would go for it. (Having said that, I am slightly biased, having bangs myself and being very impulsive ...)

Wonderful hair progress!
I think we might be at the same length, but your bun looks so much fatter than mine! (I think it's that great blunt cut -- I'm growing out face-framing layers). Your hair looks gorgeous!

As for the bangs, personal preference -- I would say don't get them, but that's just me ;) :flower:

Thanks everyone, I'm going to wait a couple of weeks at least on the bangs idea. As many of you have mentioned, it's a pretty big commitment. I really appreciate all of your honest input. Happy growing everyone!

I think that you look very pretty with or without bangs.
I am very impulsive and a while back I cut some bangs in too quick, now I am paying for it waiting on them to grow back out so that they aren't in my face. They are a big commitment in that I have to set them to make them go right. I guess that I have a cowlick or something & they always turn the wrong way then the way that I want them to go.

Very lovely hair - thick, wavy & bouncy!

I think the bangs look cute on you while the one length gives a more dramatic, awesome look to you. :)

lovely hair, I think the bangs look really good, but have to agree with the others; it's high maintenance.
