I want to dye my hair blue, but I've promised my fiancé to wait until after his fathers birthday... Yet another week and I want the wierd yellow gone! :D
Have any of you dyed any funny colours? I've had pink twice, once Pink Flaminco from Manic Panic, it got washed out first time in the shower, and then I tried Carnation Pink from Directions. It lasted forever on me.

I put red streaks in a friend's hair once. It looked really good. I don't remember the brand though. Got it at walmart. She's had blue and green before too.

I used to use a product called Crazy Color....I had to bleach streaks for the color to show.
Violet was SOOOO cool but it washed out in a week. Then once I tried Fuchia, expecting it to wash out too, but it didn't! THAT stayed until it grew out.

I coloured the upper part of my hair eggplant-purple a bit more than 2 years ago. I liked it but my hair is still demaged there.

Keep in mind that weird yellow plus blue is likely to turn out green. But yes, I've tried a fantasy color once. I dyed my hair magenta the day before easter. It's still pink through the length.

I've had bright red, deep purple, bright blue, white and blonde. I miss coloring my hair wacky colors. :(

THIS is what I was going to mention. I've colored my hair pretty much every color imaginable over the years, and I learned the hard way that you really have to take your starting color into consideration.
Usually if it's fairly light, it's not an issue. Blues, however, will look greenish if your hair is yellow to start with. As with everything-- strand test first!! :)

I dyed my dark blonde hair bright (unnatural) red some years ago.
It looked pretty nice, but it then started to fade and stayed in my hair for ages (there was always a red tint really, had to let it grow out).
I think it's something fun to do when you're 16 or 17. I would never do that now.

Yeah, I know that yellow+blue=green, so I'll do a strand test first if I can't get the yellow out with silver schampoo. :)
It's funny how some colours and brands work different on different hair. ^^

I had purple hair for a while in college. It was just a pigment (I think!) I used on top of my unbleached brown hair...was a lot of fun, but always faded to an odd pinkish color D:
I don't remember what brand it was, not manic panic or punky. I got it in a hair salon near campus and it came in a large bottle that held many applications.
Blue is crazy! but in a good way :D

Purple hair guru here. Right now I have "accidental" blue/green/yellow streaks hidden the "accidental" overall purple, this is the second time I've done this color. Manic Panic always washes out fast on my hair type, everything else lasts pretty much forever though.
Good luck with the blue. (I did have a huge blue streak for a long period of time) :bluebiggr

I used La Riche Directions, and I had a purple streak (Plum) at the front, along with a red plait (can't remember which colour this was)and a yellow plait (Daffodil) on one side and a blue plait (Turquoise or Lagoon Blue depending on how I felt) and a pink plait (Flamingo pink) on the other, the underlayer of hair at the back was dark green (Alpine Green). This was for about 4 years, and the combination of Plum and henna looks fantastic in the sun.
More recently I dyed my white streak Plum, but it doesn't stay on the white hair as well as it does on the bleached - it washed/brushed out totally within about a month with no staining. I'm still wondering about dyeing some of it blue/green shades when I have a bit more white hair though:) Especially as I now know it's not permanent in any way.

I had purple peek-a-boos in my hair before
This is what I used it by biosilk I believe....

I had this colour in my hair for about a year and only had to retouch twice. The colour goes on nice and vibrant, and isnt so cheapy looking.
The red is also very nice.

Had mine 'blue' but it looked more green due to the bleached blond streaks. Then I went to purple.

Cool. Don't forget to post pictures.
I want to color my hair dark blue, probably with manic panic, but over my naturally dark color since I want it to be temporary and not damaging. I promised my husband that I'd wait for him to grow his out a little from the buzz cut so he can go bright orange at the same time.
I've never dyed my hair before.

I had hot pink streaks once and then used MP's Vampire Red for a few years. Talk about messy, but I loved the color.

I know a girl with very dark brown hair who has a "steel blue" streak in her hair -- very nice -- and not stark, it sort of has to be the right angle/light for you to notice it.

There's a thread called Blue! Hooray! *does a happy blue dance*
I dyed a blue streak in my hair once. I can't remember what I used, but I tried Manic Panic first and it did NOTHING, so I switched to something that had bleach in the dye and that gave a really nice color. It stayed for a while...until I destroyed it with too much dye and it all fell out. I haven't had the courage to dye it again since then.
My advice is GO FOR IT! the more blue in this world, the better! (you see hints of a color obsession slipping in? no, you must be imagining things...)
(On the other hand, if your goal really is 36', shouldn't you be taking care of your hair, rather than dying it funky colors? Just a thought...)

I used to dye my hair kooky colors. I used manic panic back then, but I think there are more/better products out now. Now I have grey hair, and my (almost 18 YO) daughter is the one with crazy colors. She really wants me to let her do a midnight blue peek-a-boo on my hair, but I'm hesitant for fear that it will bleed through to the upper layers when I wash it.
In watching her hair adventures, I've noticed that almost all of the wild colors fade quickly. That said, I think the blues tend to fade nicest.

I've been dying parts of my hair pink with Manic Panic's Hot Hot Pink. It doesn't take long to wash out, but because my hair is somewhat light a light pink color lingers in my hair for awhile after the vivid hot pink is gone. One tip I keep hearing which I'm not sure has been mentioned yet, but if you mix some of the dye into your conditioner it can help hold the color for longer. This of course, is only if you dye all of your hair blue. :D

I used to dye the underside of my hair in wild colours. I had it blue once. I used Special FX in Blue Mayhem, and it coloured over my very yellow bleach job without showing green. Maybe you can try that one. I think any blue that has a purple base would work for a true blue if that's what you're going for though.

Yes, my goal is to reach tailbone, but Directions never seemes to damage my hair, it felt just like a conditioner. Then after all, we never know how much damage it does until we look trough a microscope. :D And then I felt that I can at least have it something funny until the good hair comes out. I've calculated on around 5,5 years I'll reach tailbone with my bleached hair. And then, as someone else said in another thread; Some damaging things doesn't hurt as much as if you're doing several of the damaging thing at once.
Sugarpixie; I actually used conditioner in the rest of my pink one to get out the scraps! Worked perfect XD

That's so cool! My brother had a blueish black in his hair once, looked pretty awesome.
Me, myself, I would like a pink streak through the blonde... :)

I am thinking of getting long synthetic clip-ins in blue, turquoise and purple. That way I can wear it when I want to, like on the weekends, but take it out for work.
