I am wearing Heidi Braids to work today. I thought I did a really nice job of braidling and putting up. Of course when I snapped a few pics this am (will post after d/l from iPhone) I noticed all the pins! I am getting a few strange looks and comments. I walked in to a crowded Quiznos (sandwhich shop for those that don't have them in your area) and really got some looks. Ah being in the land of the corporate bob and must cover gray! I'm undecided if a comfortably day look, pins are slip sliding a bit and I'm starting to fray around the edges. But for me it's a nice change from mean bun lady!
Happy Friday.

oooo... can't wait to see them. I wear all kinds of braids to work. I did get a lot of comments and wierd looks at first, and sometimes I still do. I just can't wear my hair the same way everyday, coated with goop and fried like everyone else. I try to use as few pins as possible, but that requires practice and hair that cooperates. Ha!

I'm also wearing Heidi braids today! It's raining here in Chicago, and the braids are great for keeping my curly, frizzy hair in check. Also, the back is flat, which makes it easy to wear a hood! Here are the pics:

Thanks! They kind of make my head look enlarged, because they are chunky braids, but this hairstyle is so comfortable and secure, I don't really care... haha

I have a hard time getting Heidi braids to stay put. It's a little easier if I do it with damp hair and gel. Ooooh; my hair is damp right now, I should. (but won't)

I use Good Hair Days pins and those suckers don't go anywhere. My hairs are all friends, though, and tend to kind of stick together. I think it's part of the nature of curly hair.

Pics or it didn't happen, atlantaz3! ;) Thanks, I've been feeling in a style rut, and this is one I've always liked. So I tried it. First attempt, final product (http://forums.longhaircommunity.com/album.php?albumid=4563&pictureid=71359). Definitely need some practice, but I like it. I'll try again tomorrow. :D tcheney91, love the way your color stripes through the braid.

Speaking as someone named Heidi, may I just hijack this for a moment to say it's a privilege to share a name with such a cute, classic style! :blossom:

Thats cool. You should check out those Good Day hair pins at Sallys. They have them in clear. Way less noticeable if they do slip, and because of their shape, they really hold well. That's just my opinion, but I don't remember anyone here complaining about them...

Post pics. I want to see how they came out!

One uploaded picture. I thought I did pretty good! I do have the the good days pins. I will have to try those next time. By the end of the day this was very fuzzy. I think next time it will be several days after wash day or a medium oil day.

Looks good, atlantaz3! Your braids are so smooth. I like it so much I did it again today. Much, much better (this) the second time around. Also would like to tout the Good Hair Day pins - they're awesome. Know what you mean about looks though. We went out a little and I got lots of 'em. Guess it's just not a conventional style that you see every day? Unless you're on LHC, of course...

The strangest thing happened to me yesterday. I did twin English braids before I left the house, on the way to the potato patch. I grabbed a big straw hat, because I couldn't find my sunglasses... When we got to the patch I criss crossed my braids in the back, brought one up and over each side, and tucked the ends behind my ears and crammed my hat on top of it. It was only uncomfortable for a couple of seconds, as my scalp realized that the hat was going to hold. After a really windy day, my hat didn't come off, and I kept it on for the ride up the mountain and then piddled around in my own yard for a while.

When it finally came time to take the hat off, after a day's work outside, my braids were secured. They didn't try to move or flop off my head at all. I had semi-permanent Heidi braids!!! It was so cool. No pins or clips or anything. They lasted up without aide for about 3 more hours, before I finally crashed for the night.

I thought about this Heidi braid thread and also about the thread about which hats we like...
