View Full Version : So... I went for the chop

So... after growing my hair long for many years, I decided that it just wasn't working for me :( After trying everything (and I mean it... everything!) it would still fall out like crazy! Not to mention it was looking way too dry and damaged...
I had to choose between having healthy hair, or long hair... and I chose healthy ...

Anyway, this is how my hair used to look
http://sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-snc3/hs358.snc3/29509_1258097451805_1210685042_30582345_6632506_n. jpg
Me being the girl in the white shirt... and... well, the only one with long hair.

This is pretty much how my hair looks now:

It's longer at the front and really short at the back... I really liked the change and the fact that I don't have to keep it up all the time.

For now, I'll just worry about the health of my hair.

So... what do you think? I know I might seem a bit of an extremist, but I REALLY wasn't confortable with the way my hair felt anymore :( Even though I really liked the length...

Before I decided to go for this cut, I went with this:

... to make sure I would not have any regrets. So far, I have not regretted anything :o

P.S. I'm not exactly new here... but I haven't really posted anything like this here before, so I'm not sure if I did it correctly  please let me know!

It looks good. I think you're right to choose health over length.

Well, the important thing is for you to be happy with your hair. Since we're all here to grow our hair long, of course we'll be baised to long hair choices. :D

But your cut looks cute, and I'm glad you're happy with it!

I agree. If I had to choose, I would choose health over length as well!!! BTW your hair is beautiful:)

it looks good and you look adorable with the cut, it works well on you.

I also had to make the decision on long hair or shorter healthier hair... so I went from tailbone to BSL a couple of years ago. It's healthier and easier to wear loose. didn't seem worth it to have such long hair and always have it in a bun or ponytail to me!

You hair is beautiful and I'm sure you will feel much better with your hair being healthier :) Where are you from, by the way?

Your hair cut looks really cute! The most important thing is that you're happy with it! :)

awww, you have one of those faces that looks great with long or short hair.

I've never seen an A-line cut with curl, and I must say it's beautiful! It reminds me of the shingled, finger waved bobs of the 1920's.

Enjoy your new hair and know that it's just hair, it'll grow back if you ever decide to go long again :flower:

Well, you have a great face for short hair too. You can grow your hair out again when you feel it's ready. If it's not going to be healthy, you won't be happy with it, right? Enjoy your healthy hair!

I have to agree with everyone here in that I think you did the right thing, most importantly if YOU are pleased with it :)

(I did the same thing a couple of weeks ago and I'm still happy! :cheese: )

Aww, that's really pretty! I like the shape that it gets since your hair is curly. I had that same cut with my curly hair, but it never looked as good as yours.

I think the style really suits you :) And if you decide you want longer hair after all, you can always grow it back.

Your hair looks great in this short style. It's very important because if your hair's not compatible with short styles, chances of regretting is very high. Enjoy your new haircut! :)

My hair was about your length when I reduced it to a chin-length bob! Now its about your length again and I'm thinking of cutting off six inches (the length of the original bob) because my entire hair was damage.

I think you made the right decision. Here's to Happy Healthy Hair! :toast:

Looks very nice. You can always try to grow long again later or you can keep it short. There are alot of members who do both! And life really is too short to be unhappy, so I'm glad you have no regrets and are loving your new pretty hair! :toast:

Oh, it's so cute! I really struggle with this too. My hair seems healthiest and happiest when it is about shoulder length or a little shorter.

I've attempted long several times in my life, and right now it's almost BSL...but it's getting drier and I'm trying to give up the blow drier. I don't know yet if I'll be able to handle it or end up cutting it (again) to a cut similar to yours....and you look so cute! Definitely tempting to do that with my hair too!

You and your hair are both beautiful. I really understand the need for feeling and seeing nice, healthy hair.

Now if you decide to grow again, you'll have all of the good LHC advice to help keep it healthy. Or you may decide to keep it at its current length.

The bottom line is that you're happy, and that's really what it's all about. :blossom:

Havin' serious hair envy here. I like all three lengths on you.

Sometimes you just have to chop and start again. Sometimes chop is a few inches, sometimes it's a few feet, LOL.
