I don't think that mid 30s is too old to grow long hair. :) I'm 50, and I just started growing mine. I think I may keep it long even into my 70s. Unless I decide otherwise...
And welcome to LHC, Miranda1995! I'm pretty new too.

I didn't have the patience to allow my hair to grow when I was younger. I would see a cute new cut and go get it.
Finally in my mid-40s, I acquired patience and let my hair grow long. It's still growing. I think it grows just as well as when people are half my age.

I think it is beautiful on both, but is a matter of personal preference. My mum is 50, and growing hers out (it's just past bsl) and I just turned 18 and am growing mine (I'm an inch away from apl)
Welcome! I'm new too.

I'm not sure I quite follow (I'm sorry, I know English isn't your first language), but I think long hair can be pretty at any age. My mom and I have hair that's about the same length (a bit past tailbone) and I think both of us have pretty hair.
As to what's easier? I think that depends more on the person than the age. Neither my mom nor I have any problems with growing our hair, but my younger sister doesn't have the patience.

Mid 30s sounds YOUNG to me! I didn't start growing my hair long again until I was 46.

Hey, I'm in my early 20's and mid-30's is young in my mind, too!

I was 62 when I decided to grow out my hair. It is now 29 1/2" long (looks BSL but when measured & pulled down looks a few inch. from waist, my goal) I think that it depends on the person when they are older if their hair will be able to grow long or not depending on their health, because a lot of med. will make your hair thinner. (I am not on any med. except vitamins) I also think that perming & coloring it will make it thinner - it is not good for the hair.
I wish that I had never cut or colored my hair when I was young & had let it grow long - I see all of these beautiful ladies here with their long beautiful dark brown hair & I think what mine could have looked like :( Oh well, hind sight is always 20-20.
As some one said before I thought that I had to try every short hairstyle that I saw someone with. I also didn't have the patience to grow it long, I would try then give up when it got about shoulder length.

Well, I'm 63 & finally decided, to grow out my hair. I too tried all those cute very trendy hairstyless, although they looked ok it just wasn't "me." Took me a long time to realize age has nothing to do with wanting healthy well kept long hair.

My mother grew out her hair (more out of convenience than anything else) when she was in her early and mid-50s. It looked great, and I really loved it.
Now I'm growing out my hair, and I'm 22. I don't think it's yet gotten to the "wow" factor of long hair, but I'm definitely enjoying the journey.
I'd say whenever someone decides to grow out their hair is a good time for them, regardless of age or society :)

Mid thirties? Older? Whoa, I must be ancient! :D
I have seen, on other boards, some disparaging remarks about "old women" and long hair. Like if you're somewhere past 40 you shouldn't wear your hair long, because it a) makes you look older; b) is grey; c) is only for young girls; d) <insert your perfectly ridiculous falsehood here>.
I personally think it has nothing to do with age, but more with how a person looks overall. I think I look better with long hair, neatly tied up (and that was waaaay before LHC!). But some of my coworkers and friends look great with shorter hair, too.

I am not really sure I understand your question either, but at least for me age is of no importance. I think it is inspiring to see people try different things with their hair.

I don't think it matters though I have heard some women say they lost the ability to really grow out their hair with the advent of hormone changes and aging in general, though that does not seem to be the norm. Personally, I think long hair on older ladies makes them look much younger than much older just because long hair tends to be more "in" with the younger crowds (something to do with that myth that you have to cut your hair short when you hit 35/ have kids).

I've gorwn my hair to around waist at least three times in my memory. First in my teens, basically by not doing anything with it. It was long but it was also rough and straggly looking. Next in my early twenties, again with the ignoring it until it's long technique, only this time I had discovered conditioner and a couple of updos.
This time (hopefully the last) I started in my late thirties. I still used the "stop cutting and leave it alone " technique, but this time I had LHC, so my hair has stayed in better condition and I've got loads of updos to do with it.
Each time, my hair grew at about the same speed as far as I can remember, although this time round I was more aware of the time it took. People around me have had the same reactions; my parents prefer me with short hair or my hair up and always have. most of my friends don't really notice excpet for the odd updo and my dh (he wasn't around the first time) says he like me with long hair and then complains it gets in his way.
I think the only difference was that I was more aware of the wierd growing out stages because it was more difficult to look neat for work.

Me growing my hair longer in my early 30's even made my mom and mother-in-law think about growing their (very short) hair as well. I haven't had any nasty comments either. I personally don't think you are ever too old to grow your hair, and I think it's a shame so many adult women have short hair (too many in my opinion).
When you're young long hair is "normal", but then you don't always have the patience to let it grow and/or decide that you have had enough and just chop it of (been there done that). Taking better care of your hair also helps. Communities like these helped me to take better care of my hair. If I would still take care of my hair like I did in the past, I would have probably cut it shorter again already because my hair was always misbehaving. Now, I can't wait till it's longer :)

I agree with the ladies above. I don't think that age has anything to say in that matter. It's all about how you treat you and your hair. As I have said before I really like grey hair. I think it's very pretty and natural, and I am looking forward to be getting gray myself:)

I had long hair till my mid 30's then decided to grow it again mid 40's, and am now nearly 50 with hip length hair :) I think it can look nice at any age, and I am embracing my hair going silver too. At the moment I have no plans to cut it, so hope to age disgracefully with long hair.

I have been up and down with my hairlength for most of my life. I hit menopause a couple of years ago and my hair is longer and better than it has ever been! I don't know if it is the lack of monthly hormonal changes, change in haircare routine, or just patience that has brought this about. I don't really care why it is happening now.....I am just enjoying it and have decided to quit the coloring and embrace the greys too.

Hi, and welcome:)
I think everyone who wants to grow their hair is entitled to do so, no matter what age they are.
We ourselves control what is on top of our own heads.
It is a reason our hair is attached to our heads:
We have ownership over it, it`s ours ---> :deal:
I know there can be cultural and religious reasons in play in different places of the world also, so I respect that.
But when we talk about hairstyle in general that doesn`t include the mentioned above, I feel everyone should let everyone do with their hair that makes them happy. And if that includes being 90 years old and have floorlength purple hair, then cool!!!:)
