View Full Version : Total N00b question - How do you know what your hair type is?

April 29th, 2010, 01:40 PM
I tried to do a search, but since every post has hair type in it, I got about a billion results. So is there a sticky or something that someone can point me towards?

Straight vs curly I understand. I have totally straight hair so 1a. What I am more confused about is the texture and volume. I know I don't have super fine or super coarse or super thin or super thick. How do you know where in the middle you fall?

Yeah, that search feature can be tricky like that. :) This post (http://forums.longhaircommunity.com/showthread.php?t=32573) should help, you'll find the answer to your question there as well as lots of info to help you settle in and get comfy here.

Now I am trying to decide if I really have 1a or if maybe I have 1b. My hair is straight straight, but it occasionally has a tiny bit of body. Like if I sleep with it loose it will not be totally flat the next day. But normally it is totally flat. I guess I will stick with 1a.

Welcome, welcome. I just join the site about a week or so ago myself. The links the others gave will help you out a lot. They helped me when I joined.
