I think this is for the Battle of Endor. (Feel free to correct me.) It's so hard to find pictures of the back of Leia's head.

Haha! I'm watching the video right now, but I had to pause it to tell you that I love the part about drinking Mountain Dew! Too funny :rollin: I knew a girl in high school who flat out refused to drink anything but Mountain Dew, I still can't stand it to this day. Blech.

ETA: OK, just finished watching the video. It's beautiful! I'm definitely going to try this when I finally get some serious length going. Great job :)

I think you could probably get away with this hairstyle in just about any setting, unlike the Leia buns. I think it would look nice with a flower tucked into it, maybe.

LOVE the double braid over your head part of this. I'll have to give this a shot.

Great tutorial! I love Leia's hair. Although I think that it is more likely that Leia turned her Ewok village hair style into the Battle for Endor style, which would involve a different technique. It's great, none the less, and actually looks just like her hair style from earlier in movie when the rebels first land on Endor (the two styles are almost identical... the only real difference in appearance is the tan lacing on the Battle for Endor style).

That's so pretty! I want to try it tomorrow. The only problem is I'm always disappointed because my hair styles don't look nice and smooth like it would if I had straight hair. Oh well. :) I'm also not sure if my hair is long enough, but I can always try.

That's true! I think I may have to watch the movie again to see the progression of her hair styles.

The scene where her hair is (apparently) braided across the top and laced with leather is a hair style that's confusing me. It's a single braid across the top, but it hangs down on either side. (The back is loose.) I've been looking at pictures all over the internet and can't figure out how to do it with a single braid. Oh, well. I think I'll *interpret* it. I know how to fake that 'do.

I want to do slave Leia, too, but she's got that metal thing on her head when she's in the metal bikini. That, too, will be something I'll *interpret.*

I owe a big thank you to GuinevereMay for sharing.
Definitely a long hair moment. I never thought my hair would be long enough for a crown braid.
I used 8 2 1/2 inch Amish pins no elastics.
Thank you!

I once asked about the single braid in the Ewok village because I couldn't figure out what was going on, either. Rovylern posted a picture of the style on her daughter and some instructions for me in this thread:

http://forums.longhaircommunity.com/showthread.php?t=27987

Unfortunately, I still cannot accomplish the style because I am rubbish at Dutch braids (and French braids, too)!

I'm with paperwhite, I really dig incorporating the braid into the next braid. So smart. So, I took at jab at your excellent tutorial. I know how frustrating it is to get requests for movie hairstyles when you know that 9 times out of 10 a hairpiece (or multiple hairpieces) were used to accomplish it...and you only have your own head of hair. I congratulate you on figuring this one out! Get down with your bad self. :) Anywhoodle, here are my results from the first go...I think it'll look neater once I get the hang of it.

I like how Torrinpaige did the figure 8 that's more accurate to the movie. I'm thinking I should have incorporated that into the tutorial, but I didn't think of it.

This is a great tutorial. So easy to follow. My hair is just barely too short for the crown braid and the bun would look better if it was longer. But I did it! It's pretty comfy too. I just need to find my 2 1/2" amish pins so they are hidden better in the crown. If it holds up, I'll get a pic of it later.

Thanks for this. I will agree with everyone who has said incorporating one braid end into the next braid is a great idea. I want to try it, but I need to find some hair pins that my hair won't just spit out.

Haha! I'm so threadjacking this to that other tutorial, about the Ewok Village one. I can't get my ends into a decent braid to do the back bun like the vid tutorial on the Battle of Endor 'do. So...

I did a braid starting from behind my left ear, tied off with an elastic. Brought it over my head, and elastic-tied it to one strand of a new braid starting on my right ear (to incorporate it.) Braided down, finished it with an elastic. Started a third braid just behind the original on the left side, and wove one of the strands from that new one into the first one so they look like they're all one. Couple of pins on top and TADA!!

I think the braid blends well. No I didn't tie it up with any cording, I was just playing around. I will dead serious wear this to work though.

Looks pretty! I have a few ideas about Leia in the Ewok village and how to do the braids. I've already done two Leia tutorials, though, so I doubt I'm going to do another one (unless it's frequently requested or something.)

Thank you! Haha, you can't do too much Princess Leia!! :p But I am very biased; I'm a big fan of the original trilogy and the novels. Could care less about the prequels, unfortunately :(

I tried it out this morning and I might not have quite enough hair. I can wrap the side braids over my head, but it's the braid for the bun that didn't work out for me. I didn't have enough volume to get the bun to look right.

I think just the braids wrapped over the head are pretty, too!

I gave it a try, with a little modification. When I did one braid into another, my ends stuck out kinda funny. So, I left the two little braids separate and sewed them down, Italian Taping-style.

Then I did a braided bun with the rest.
