Progress Update (pictuers)

Been steadfastly growing my hair out for a few years now (since 2008). Passed BSL a couple months back and am now making the journey to waist length. After reaching that I plan on donating ~10 inches to an aid organization that isn't Locks-Of-Love. Plenty of women here are opposed to donating their long hair, and they have every right to feel that way. Personally though, I feel incredibly selfish to not donate occasionally

Just back from a trim, where the hairdresser straightened the length. Don't normally straighten or blow dry.

More power to you if you want to donate, but I must confess that I don't understand the "incredibly selfish" part. Your hair is really pretty, and I'm sure whoever you donate it to will be glad to get it.

To Spidermom: the selfish comment comes from holding myself to high standards. I'm always looking for some way to contribute to the community or help people out, and since hair just keeps on growing I don't see a reason not to donate it. Also, I don't have waist length or longer as a hair-goal, so it's going to get cut at one point. Might as well chop off ten inches at one sitting rather than go in and get smaller cuts more often. Hope that explains it a little.

However, I'll point out that most of use are just against people trying to FORCE them to donate, not the donation itself. If that's how you feel, go with it.

Also a caveat--I don't think that just because you have something nice means you have to donate it. If I have a nice car, I don't have to then donate one. I think you should do what you can for charities and such, but that doesn't mean you have to give up the things you're most fond of. There are other ways to help, like giving blood and volunteering and such.
