Body shop shampoo/conditioner worth the money?

I have been studying for some exams, and my mid-day treat is to wander around the Body Shop, I have only bought myself a wooden comb, which I absolutely love!

The body shop shampoos and conditioners look lovely (especially the olive oil one, yum!), does any one use these and which ones? Are they worth the price?

I am not thinking of using these everyday as I usually CO with good old ASDA essentials (50p for about a litre!), but maybe for a fortnightly treat?

Please let me know your experiences/recommendations!

I use the Body Shop's Grapeseed Oil serum, and it's great. It might have cones though, beware. I tried the honey conditioner, but I hated it, it was way too heavy.

I can thoroughly recommend the Honey shampoo conditioner. But I have dry damaged hair that loves the moisture that it gives (could be too heavy for finer hair).

Its a bit on the pricey side, but I also use L'Occitane Shampoo/ conditioners. I would say the bodyshop S&C is totally comparible to L'Occitane S&C in terms of moisture results which makes Bodyshop seem like a bargain buy.

Edit: the one conditioner I cannot live without is Tesco's coconut Conditioner (99p). FANTASTIC for CO washing!

I really like the banana conditioner they sell, though I think it is limited edition sadly. The banana shampoo is okay, but to me, it is just another shampoo. I find that with most shampoos, honestly, that they just are shampoo and so I tend to stick to my Lush shampoo bars that lasts forever or just the generic brand my father buys for the family. I would say the conditioners are probably worth it (though some do contain silicones as far as I know) while the shampoo is not.

My mum used to work for the body shop, so we got a cunch of stuff free every now and then and yes, they smell lovley, but dont be fooled. They are still pretty chemical heavy and contain 'cones, even if they are animal friendly and have some organic ingredents. They are also now owned by L'oreal (which is known to test on animals).
However, their honey conditoner is really nice and moisturisng but tbh I think you could find something far far better and probably for alot less. I do still uses some of the body butters, and a gift set is always welcome at christmas :cheese: hahaha.

Yes Robiha, it's funny you should say that, as I had a look at the banana and the honey conditioners on the website today, after the recommendations, and was shocked at the chemical heavy ingredients list. It was silly for me to be shocked really, as the body shop emphasises community trade, rather than "naturalness" :?.

I found a company called Bentley Organics and the ingredients lists were much more botanical (and no sulphates/parabens/cones) so I have ordered a shampoo and conditioner from there instead (and half the price of Body Shop).

I just really need something I can use as an alternative to CO when I want a deeper clean, and so that my friends have something to use when they come and stay, hopefully this will fit the bill.

i got some coconut oil hair shine from there that im not entirely impressed with. its very very waxy and i think it has parabens&cones. (but i had a coupon and just had to get it :D)

I tried the honey shampoo and olive conditioner.. they were ok and left my hair soft. I was kinda surprised they contained cones' though. I also tried the brazil nut deep conditioner and hair cream. the hair cream left my hair feeling too waxy and greasy. nothing too exciting for me.

I didn't know they were bought by Loreal ... bummer, that's one reason I tried their products since I try to look for good products not tested on animals.

I really dont think anything in there is worth the price. I checked out their website and they sell a coconut oil hair treatment for like $10, it only contains 50 grams as is polluted with parabens and other unnecessary things. Virgin coconut oil however, is pretty much the exact same thing and I got a 454 g jar for only &15. So in my opinion, the stuff there is a big rip off. Although I do admit, the stuff there smells fantastic:P

Body Shop discontinued their Chamomile Shampoo and Protein Conditioner a few years ago. They were the best I ever used and concentrated so I used much less. They have never replaced those with a comparable product so I stopped going there.

I just tried their new Moringa Shine & Protection Conditioner. Because my shampoo is really conditioning I was after something that 1, smells really nice and 2, was light. This seems to have worked well.

But- they have used their Oceanus fragrance in this. It really stands out to me because I had this fragrance when I was in my late teens and went through some difficulties. So it brings up these memories. I'm ok with this... but it was a bit unexpected. I guess it makes business sense to reuse fragrances they've developed.

I swore by it but I also swore by their powder shampoo for fair hair - does anyone remember it? It was a very fine dark yellow powder which came in a plastic bag which, when opened, caused me to sneeze repeatedly. As they never divulged the ingredients I never knew what made me sneeze so much although the shampoo was meant to contain ground soap flakes and ground camomile. It was extremely hard to use. You made a paste by adding water to the powder then stirring to mix it all together before applying to the scalp. The result was blonde highlights and very dry hair. (This was back in the 1980's by the way.)

I've bee wanting to try the Ginger line, I tried the Brazil nut mask they had a long time ago (not sure if they still make it) and wasn't impressed, not hydrating enough. I love their body products but never paid too much attention to the hair products they offer.
