My 14yr old sister is going to a birthday party so I offered to do her past classic length hair.
I saw the instructional video on youtube and added a few variations, it took less than 10mins to do. I'm really pleased with it.

I guess I can just use her hair for practice till my hair (hopefully) gets that long :D

thanks everyone for the nice feedback , I really like the extravagant looking styles, have been trawling through youtube trying to find vids. I found some cool ones with the EZ combs, will try that on sis's head after she has recovered from all that tugging... :cheese:

I like that! Looks cool and good for days when a lot of length isn't practical.
Did you make several rope braids and end them together in a single 3 strand braid, and wind that around the base of the ponytail?

yes, pretty much.
4 rope braids two thirds down the ponytail, then braid with a ribbon into the bottom to secure at the top. I used bobby pins (you can see in the last 2 photos) to secure the end of the rope braid bit under the ponytail, it holds the looped braid tighter.
so simple. :D

Do you mind sharing the channel for the tutorial? I'm always looking for hair style videos. I find a channel and I watch all the videos in like 3 days and then I go through a withdrawl. . . .

Sorry I can't seem to find the video again, I think it was an apolistic (may have spelt spelt it wrong) type style. I really can't remember.

I just did a quick 'sketch' on how to do it, please excuse my crappy drawing, hope it makes sense
