Big curls are my hair holy grail.
I have thin, medium, slightly wavy hair - between 1C to 2B depending on whether it's a good hair day or not. I'm going out for my birthday, and I want curly hair!!
Normally my hair is just there, it's never styled, not even a ponytail. So I need to find a styling method that is easy to follow, and ideally with as few styling products as possible...whenever I try curling (big velcro rollers, straighteners, braids) it goes wrong some way or another, and I really don't want to risk doing something and ending up with my hair looking bad for my big night.
Any ideas, instructions or tips?
This is the closest thing I've found to what I'm looking for;

I'm sure if I was to try this either my hair wouldn't stay in the curler or it'd come out twisted and messy - any tips?
To give you an idea of what sort of curl I'd like;
