what length is waist on you ???

so i was eagerly following the 'how long from BSL to waist thread' and of course there is a huge difference in the time it too people to go fro bsl to waist..

I'd love to know what everyone's differing measurements are for the length to their waist. (using the method of measuring from where your hair begins on your forehead)
My waist is at 30inches (76cms) im currently at 14inches, so at an inch a month it will take me about a year and a half to get there (which feel like an eternity)

Unless i can maintain the current level of growth of 1.5inches a month, then it will only be 10 months (now that would be awesome!!)

Around 31 inches for me. For me it is more of a layer issue. My longest layer (nape of the neck) is about 24 inches but the canopy layers are more like just past SL. This gives my hair the appearance of being much shorter than it is when you look at me from the front. If all my hair was at BSL I think I would be happy with my length.

I've seen photos of myself with what I consider to be "long hair" on me and it is not actually waist - more like high waist but since it is all one length, it just looks so much longer.

Whoever conned me into getting layers in the first place was really pulling the wool over my eyes. They told me it would take the bulk out - well it just gives the illusion of way more bulk with my hair. I need the weight to pull my hair down. Ugh!!!

Anyways, 7 inches of length until waist at 5/8" per month will mean that it will take about 11 months by the looks of things.

P.S - I'm from Sydney too - where do you get your MSM from?

Waist for me is at about 29.5 if you're counting the narrowest part. If I can get the weight off, it will be at about 31+. I'm maybe 5'5". I think BSL is about 25.5, so the distance to WL will get further if I can pass BSL while I'm cutting weight. I don't expect to get there this year. I expect to get to BSL and then maybe maintain while more damage disappears. Getting to WL the next year will be a breeze after that.

I think because of the way alot of clothes are designed to be worn on the hips, our perception of where our waist actually is is altered. I sew a bit so I've had to get to know where the measurements are supposed to be taken.

I think the easiest way to know is to get some thin elastic and tie it around your waist area so that it's snug but not too tight. Then move around (touch your toes, walk around, sit down etc) and you'll find that the elastic will naturally move to your waistline which is usually the smallest part on the torso. For most people, it's a little higher than we think it is. I had to readjust my goal because of where I "thought" my waist was, wasn't. This was good news because it took an inch off my goal - yey!

Im pretty long waisted and have lots of problems getting clothes to fit properly, I usually have to resite belts etc, they have a tendency to sit under my ribs.

PS Waist for me is the narrowest point between the hip bone and the ribs.

Definitely! I put down waist as a goal for myself when I joined LHC, but quickly realised that I meant hip. My trousers are NOT at my waist (thank goodness, because I hate high-waisted trousers), they're at my hips.

I've just recently grown past waist, and my hair would seem to be waist one day, and then it was back to an inch above waist the next :rolleyes:

I do agree w/ what everyone said about the waist/ hip debate.... I think the lo-rise clothes have made us think our waist is lower than it really is.... just like someone said earlier (sorry, can't remember who :( ) I said my goal was waist, but then I realized (as I got closer) that I really meant hip.

Hi, everyone! :smile: I would say that 32” is waist-length on me, but my records say that I achieved it at 31.50”, which means it was a *firm* waist-length for me. It’s entirely possible that I hit waist-length at 31”, but if I thought that anyone would question it, I didn’t want to declare it. I mention this based on the other answers I’m reading here, because I’m 5’4” with long legs and a short torso for my frame. This is a very interesting poll! :coolblue:

ETA: I didn't realise that peoples' bellybutton/elbows hit at different points on the body until I read some other peoples' posts. My bellybutton is at waist, and my elbows are at hip.
