I was wondering how you prep your hair before you work out your hair type. Is it best to give it wash and dont touch it at all and let it air dry, or is it ok to comb or finger comb?

Iv found lots of stuff on hair typing but nothing on how to prep it.

One thing Iv found since beginning to learn the hair types, is watching others and trying to guess their hair type, maybe its a new form of patience.

You wash your hair with only shampoo (so no conditioner, no leave-ins or oils), and don't touch it. No combing, no fingercombing. And let it air dry.

I think different people do different things, to some extent. Many will tell you to wash it using your usual method, or to go ahead and use conditioner. Try to touch it minimally once it's rinsed, though, and don't use any leave-ins, which could change the texture a bit.

For hair typing, I washed my hair, combed conditioner through, rinsed, and then let it air-dry.
