Okay, maybe trimming my hair in the midst of a migraine wasn't the best of ideas.

However, the end result came out well - I cut about an inch more than I'd planned on, but where the scissors landed was the line between 'soft, smooth happy hair' and 'uncombable, matted ball of straw' so I think I made the right choice. In addition, I think I've only got one small trim left before I'm completely natural-haired. Maybe I'll leave that one to a professional that I trust, haha.

So, here are the promised pics. Before:

What do you think?

Thanks everyone! I'm glad it looks okay - honestly, right now i'm not the best of judges, haha. (and yes, I'm dedicated enough that I LHC with a migraine - the screen brightness is way down, and all the other lights are off. Good thing I touch type instinctively, eh?)

Redwoman: I've been working up to doing this trim for... well, a few years, haha, but in actuality, I've been 'meaning to get around to' trimming for two months now. I was planning on doing every three months, starting oct. 30 - Yeah. That didn't work.

Restourceful: Thank you! I can't wait until mine is your color, or as near as I can get.

Thanks to everyone for the sweet comments and reassurances that it looks okay. Hopefully, once it dries from the conditioning I just did, the hemline will still be okay, and not wonky.

What a great cutting job! It looks wonderful :)

I'm hoping to do a self-trim in a little bit, so your successful trim-in-the-midst of a migraine is heartening!

Yay for you! You're so close to that goal of all natural hair :D

I've learned the hard way not to trim hair in the midst of a migraine. Or to trim my bangs at 4 am. So be proud that you were so talented! :p

To the OP,
Your hair looks so beautiful and healthy! I remember years back when I stopped dying my hair and got to the point (after much waiting and trimming) that my hair was free of damage). What a wonderful feeling.
Congrats!!

It looks great - did you use Feye's self-trim method on yourself?

I did the V method, yep. One side ended up about half an inch shorter, and the other side had to be matched, heh.

It really is a nice feeling to know that all my stupid teenage hair-mistakes have finally been cut out, haha. Almost all my hair is now what has grown out of my head since I met DBF in '06 - I had it bleached two months before I met him in person, and that's the last time I've done anything permanent to it colorwise.

Wow!!! What a beautiful cut! Your hair looks lovely and the loss in length really isn't noticeable. As a sister migraineur, I know how difficult it is to do anything when in the midst of a migraine. Well done! :blossom:
