I am going for a grad school interview in a couple of weeks, and I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions for professional looking hair. The problem is, is that I just cut my hair from hip length to a little below BSL. (I think it is about 24" inches long- my tape measure is MIA.) I would have done a log roll or something when I my hair was hip length, but now I am at a total loss at what to do. I can do a bun, and a kinda goofy looking flipped bun. Any ideas?

I think a neat bun would be fine. That's what I use any time I want to look professional.

My hair is shoulder length and I do either a french twist or a french braid when I want to look professional.

I'm wearing this today... It's just a simple wrap bun but fancied up with some flowers :)

French twist. I first got this one down at waist length using this tutorial.

The key is practice. All of her styles are well put together.

I agree. I think it's best to choose something simple and comfortable. The last thing you want to be worrying about during an interview is your hair! I'm sure whatever you choose, it will look great. Good luck! :)

When I perform with my symphony I do a bun twist. You can stick ornamentals in it to spice it up a bit and it looks professional. Good luck with your interview!

How about a French Braid. . .elegant and professional.

Good Luck!

I agree a french braid, french twist or simple bun will look professional and put together. You could also do do a half-up if you wanted to, I have seen people with mini braids, buns and pony tails.

I think either a bun or some kind of twist would be great.

I have to respectfully disagree that a french braid is seen by the corporate world as "professional looking". While I love them, and do them myself, I think that most people view french braids as "Little House on the prairie", "polygamy" or "country bumpkin" or "little girl".

I am not interested in a discussion about whether "I think" they are, or whether "they are or not". This is my very experienced opinion as a professional, and as the wife of a partner in a large CPA firm. I can tell you that a french braid would not at all be seen in the same light as a bun or french twist, or even long, curled hair (not that you would curl/flat iron, but that would be more accepted than not heat treated or a braid would be, IMHO).

So there you go! My opinion/experience for what it is worth!

I think if you did a low, sleek ponytail like: http://blog.voguewigs.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/07/nicole_kidman300.jpg

That should work. Just have two or one large rollers and put them in your slightly damp hair for 1 or 2 hours to get the slightly more sleek look.

Don't worry about your hair. I would go for a simple bun or french twist of some kind, just because I have a tendency to fiddle with my hair when I get nervous or uninterested but really, as long as your hair is clean and well brushed, and kept from your face, at BSL any style (except pigtails, perhaps) would really be okay, I am sure.

Good luck!

I vote for a french twist, it's very elegant and keeps your hair out of your face.
