View Full Version : Bangs or face framing layers...

I have decided to get my hair trimmed and cut a v-shaped hemline. I would also like to do something interesting in the front, like either side swept bangs or face framing layers. I think the bangs are so cute but I'm afraid I will get tired of them and put them up all the time or get hot (I'm easily overheated;))
I have also thought about some face framing layers.
Advise?
Here are some pictures on how I would like my bangs if I get them:

Face framing layers are pretty easy and one of my options is to start with them and then decide if I want bangs.
I haven't had bangs since I was six! I'm so afraid of messing up my hair.

I like the pics, but note that the hair is straight (at least in the first one I saw).

Are you willing to straighten your bangs often?

Just wanted to say that I like the slight U shaped hemline you have in your pic...

A couple of those look like long hair parted low on one side, angled across the forehead, and secured behind the opposite ear. You can try out the look that way.

This. Long Hair Loom has a tutorial by Fox on creating those bangs. ---Fiddle, I can't find it now. Maybe it wasn't one of Fox's.

Anyhoo, for wearing down, seperate out the front bang area then twist the back up out of the way. Shape the bangs as you want them and secure the rest of the hair at the nape of your neck, either with bobby pins or by making a tiny ponytail with them. I use avg to assist with the shaping. Let the rest of your hair down to cover the works.

Also, if you decide on the face framing layers you should be able to get the same effect as the long side-swept bangs by putting the shortest layer somewhere between your earlobes and chin.

I think you could do those looks now, too. . .just need a couple of small, dark and exotic barrettes?

I like your slight u-hemline too.

Maybe just trim a little in front. . .with looooong bangs that blend into your pretty hemline?

I don't think you'll need that fancy little gadget sold on the site - but I like the instruction videos they provide:CREA CLIP (http://www.creaclip.com/instructional-video.html) A chinlength straight across cut should give you the result you want.

And this site also helped me a lot: HAIRFINDER (http://www.hairfinder.com/hairquestions/hq-cuttinghair.htm)

Bangs are an annoyance!! Don't get them! You will have to either pin them back or blow dry them everyday and then they take a century to get rid of!

My advice is to stick with just layers! :twocents:

Well, if you nkow bangs and the like suit you, then go forward! The only thing is you have to keep up with them, and if you want to grow them out it can be a pain. I have bangs, and a V shaped hemline, which I love. Here's my hair (a bit old pic, but still fairly the same)

Isilme, please - as a fellow 2a I say no no, donīt get bangs! They are very high maintenance, you will have to invest a lot of work every morning to make them look like those in the pictures, they never do what you want them to do, they will be a real pain in the butt. Trust me.

Face framing layers are a much better idea.

(And also I am not a fan of V-shaped hemlines. But you didnīt ask about that, so my mouth is sealed.)

Actually, you have a point there. As a 2a, that would probably be more trouble than I thought. Clearly, my hair is pretty straight (in that pic it's straightened), so it's not much of a problem for me. face framing layers might be a better friend for you Isilme :)

Ok, thanks for your support! Face framing layers next then!:)
Oh, and I'm too chicken to cut off the length needed to make a real v-shaped hemline:D At the hairdresser it's all pretty and v-ish and then morphs into an u-shaped one.

I have much straighter hair than you and recently cut bangs (after spending a year growing them out). They are a pain and I pull them back pretty much every day. I'd go with face-framing layers and do the faux-bang technique if you want to change up your look.

Very pretty hair, BTW.:)
