Well, ok, mostly I want to show off this new-to-me style, because I'm super excited about it. But I'm sure it's got a name, and I figured one of you smart people will know it and can tell me! It's basically a knot, with the hair coming out pointed down, and it's held up by two big pins.

Thanks!

I call this the Juliet pony tail because the statue of Juliet supposedly from Romeo and Juliet in Verona (next to alleged balcony) has this hair style but going round a couple of times.

For some reason "bunnytail" is coming to mind... but I'm not positive on that.

I do the same pony but much higher up on my head. I hold it with a jaw clip or a Papermate pen.

It's my go-to for everything. It keeps it up but I still look like I have hair and it isn't as severe as a bun. It fans out nicely and makes a tail that reaches down below the collar of my shirts.

Whatever it's called it's super cute! I'm off to try it on myself right now, haha!

I've seen it called a "bunnytail" before. More because it's a bun/ponytail than because it looks like anything on a rabbit.

I love that style! I've never seen it before. I can't wait till my hair's long enough to do that. Pretty!

And it is also Viking. Not even kidding-- it's carved on some nice big boulders up in Scandinavia, among other Norse depictions of it. You're highly fashionable, circa, oh, about 1200. :) Isn't it comfy? There was a thread (http://forums.longhaircommunity.com/showthread.php?t=27247)rolling around a while ago... We were trying to figure out the most secure way to do it.

For some reason "bunnytail" is coming to mind... but I'm not positive on that. That's what I first thought on seeing this. Anyways, it's pretty whatever you call it.:)

I think it's gorgeous. I do it sometimes in the privacy of my own bedroom, but unfortunately I don't yet have the length to make it look good. The 'tail' bit is short and stumpy and ridiculous! I can't wait until it looks good on me. I didn't know it was Viking, Renbirde, how interesting!

I've always known them as odango knots. (regardless of where they're worn.) I've always secured them with a single hair elastic attached to the final pony tail and pushed inside the knot to hide it. I don't know why I never tried hair pins.:hmm:

goes off to try . . .

I've seen it called a "bunnytail", "knotted pony" and "ponybun" (although "ponybun" is also the name of another hairstyle that looks different from this.) I've got a photo in my albums here of one like this - it takes my thigh length back up to tailbone length in seconds (though I was barely at classic when I posted my photo and it only took me up to about waist or hip lol) :D And somehow I never have to use anything to hold it up, it just....stays.
