I am very pleased with these. I wore them to my dance class today, so please excuse the frizzies. I did two low hawser braids and bunned them, using some Bun Heads pins and a couple of HairScroos... The looked HUGE because of the thickness of the hawser braids. (sorry about the ghostliness of the photos)

They look great, and huge!! And cute.
And hey, that may be an answer to your XXL flexi dilemma - making 2 hawser braids one on top of the other, wind the bottom one, then wrap the top one around. That may be big enough for an XXL! :)

I was just thinking about wearing this hairstyle to my dance class (whenever we bend down I feel like my braid is going to pull right off, and I'm afraid of hitting people when I spin) Thanks for the inspiration!

A Hawser braid is two rope braids that are rope braided together. It makes a nice, thick braid.

Ah, that's what I call "rope braided rope braids" then :D
It looks cool as bun, I should try that sometime.

So pretty! If I used *all* my hair it would not make a bun the size of one of yours. Can we say, Envy??? ;)

Today I did double rose buns to see how they look different. I had some time on my hands apparently! Anyway, the hawsers were easier to make symmetrical and felt more stable. The roses are taller and the hawsers are wider.

Those look spiffy! I bet afterward you were eager not to have anything to twist besides some keys.

For those who tried the link unsuccessfully, I have now fixed it. I am having some trouble with LHC not loading things properly, and I am not sure why. My posts are acting strange though.

It's funny that the rose buns look so different when they seem quite similar.
I prefer the look of the hawser buns.
