How tall are you and how long is your hair?

I notice smaller people tend to get longer hair faster just because their body length is comparatively less than a taller person, which in fact makes measurements such as BSL, TBL, Classic etc relative and not factual descriptions of length, hence a very small person with waist length could theoretically have less hair length than a very tall person with say bsl hair.
Regardless, this poll just comes out of my annoyance at being a tall lady and seeing my smaller friends get length results sooner!!
I'm putting heights in meters and feet, hopefully these are accurate so all LHCers can participate, if you notice mistakes in conversion please feel free to correct me- there should have perhaps been more options especially perhaps a 1.80-190 metre slot but hell this took me long enough to do already, so I hope it will give an idea of the distribution we have here at LHC and perhaps a more in depth poll can be done at a later point....happy voting :)

I'm 5'8" /1.73 m and 27 inches. I just cut off an inch of yucky hair and evened up my layers. Waist is around 31-32 inches on me. So I'd say height definitely a factor. A smaller person could already be at waist with 27 inches of hair.

But it's true that terms such as APL, WL. BSL, TB, etc, are all subjective, and depend upon each individual's body measurements. (ie - longer- or shorter-torsoed persons with comparatively longer or shorter legs will have different actual measurements with the same such term)

I am 5'1, and I have waist length. My waist is about 30 Inch, which is as much as many of my 5'7 and taller friends, I am currently in 31 inches. I am really well proportioned (except on boob size :D) so I think it has to do more with body type than height. I have drawn many people in my life, and the rules of proportion in Figure are the same for someone 5'1 and 5'8. Little people under 4'9 and children usually are off proportion.

I met someone who is really tall who is at hip length because she has a really high hip, and her hair is only 3 inches longer than mine. I need at least 8 inches to be her length :(.

My friend is really tall, she also has a high hip but she is built proportioned so she does have 6 to 8 inches of hair more than me, and is at hip.

And yes, I figured that being short means I get waist length faster than taller girls who may need that extra few inches to get there ;) Oh, well I should point out that I sort of have a longish torso and short legs (so they're super short) so 30" waist probably isn't that much different to other people (from reading the whole thread). However, if I were to go to knee it'd be quicker cause of my short legs!!

Question for other shorties - do people ever tell you that you should get your hair cut cause you'd look taller?? I have been told that before :P I think it's rubbish though lol. I'd rather just look short and have long hair!

Those hairstylists are talking nonsense! I have a square face, and my long straight hair can make it longer (not that I begrudge my square jaw, in fact I like it, but I sometimes yearn for an oval face, sigh...). So what you say is true, longer hair makes a round/square face seem longer.

Maybe it'd be easier just to ask for hair length in terms of measurements rather than body markers and then height as well? Only suggesting that because it could vary a lot even at the same height depending on the length of someone's torso & lower body.

Other factors also greatly affect hair length, even something as simple as if someone wanted to cut it off, so it's kind of impossible to tell if height really is an advantage to get it to look longer, except for perhaps more extreme lengths. I always think tall people find it easier to look slimmer and get away with eating more, because their fat can be dispersed. ^-^ The rational part of my mind realises that a lot of other factors affect that too, but hey, the grass is always greener, right?

You're reading that as 5'5", when it's written 5.5', which would actually be 5'6", but it's just an approximate conversion. The confusion here is all in rounding and significant figures. Nothing like math to get in the way of a discussion about hair, lol.

As for your varying results when you're measuring your height, there could be a lot of contributing factors: the thickness of the soles of your shoes, your posture, etc. I have a minor back problem that causes my height measurements to vary by several inches, depending on whether or not my back is "in". It just affects my posture that badly.

But this is probably because I am a shortie (1,57m/61.8") :laugh: so that my wavy hair seems to grow at fairly acceptable speed rate to my eyes. :eye:

Thinking about it for an instant, if you are very tall and very curly - which is a lovely combo, by the way :heartbeat - it might take you no less than years to see some concrete results! :shocked:

I saw the doc for my annual exam and found I have shrunk...now 5'3.75" (from 5'5") :thud:
On an already short torso, shrinking enables landmarks to be reached sooner...but lack of usual length means not all styles can be achieved at that landmark.

That accounts for how I am able to recover so quickly from trims... and am now getting the urge to grow longer (past my original goal) :hmm:
