I'd really like to try a gibson tuck, but I'm not sure I can do it with all this length. Does anyone have a youtube video, or tutorial on here showing it on longer hair, all the instructions I find are for shorter hair.

This probably isn't at all what you're looking for, but when I was searching for how to do a gibson tuck, I came across these instructions for a similar style that I think would work with classic length - you pull the ponytail through, divide into three sections, braid each of the sections and then pull those through... Maybe you've already heard of this style, I just thought I would send it your way in case it's at all helpful/interesting :)

Good luck with everything!

I can't help -- my underlayer is too thin to hold my hair in a Gibson tuck, so the thing tends to give birth before long.

You might want to take a look at Hypnotica's flipped bun. Similar sort of look, but it holds more hair. (link (http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-7581080099802811376#))

I have the same probelm as Anje--what worked for me was not pulling the full length of the initial pony through the ponytail holder. Leave a big ol' loop of hair, like for a messy bun.

Then split and drop. The weight seems not to fall through the underlayer so fast.

This might help with the classic length problem--that your underlayer may not support the weight of all that hair lying on top. Possibly hold out several loops in the initial pony.

The times that I have tried the Gibson, my problem always ends up being that I can't manage to stuff all my hair into the pocket! I know there are ladies (and gentlemen?) that can manage it, but I swear it's impossible for me! My hair is only TBL, and not as thick as some here.

I did find this video awhile ago, though. It's torrinpaige's instructions for a Vintage-y updo (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8u4neDtqsDk) that is sort of similar to the Gibson but...bigger!

As a secondary problem, I almost always have trouble flipping my hair through the ponytail part, heh! :o

I cannot roll up my ponytail small enough to fit in the pocket either. I have given up on the gibson for now.

Give birth! That's a perfect description, I laughed 'til I cried...

Thanks so much! I remember looking at yours and wondering how you got all that hair in.
