This is a sort of spin-off of the "How long is Princess Leia's hair" thread...

How long do you think Madame Giry's hair is in the movie? I watched it yesterday and I couldn't take my eyes off her intricate updos. :D Yeah, yeah, I know they're achieved using tons of fake hair, but if it was real how long would you say it was? ;) The braid that's hanging down in one of her styles is about hip or tailbone length, but a good part of it is coiled around her head, and I think part of it may be bunned too. I'd say it would need to be at least knee-length.

Pictures (really hard to find some from the back):

I've been wondering that myself! I'll get back to you on it. *rushes off for dinner*

Edit: Okay, so judging from the pictures, I'd wager that her hair would be a little past classic (although in different scenes it seems that she's used a hair piece because of the extreme lack of hair or vice versa). :) I really love her hair too.

OH excellent thread! I love her hair! Maybe there are some youtube vids with better back views of her hair? it's hard to tell from those photos...

I'm going to look for vids or more photos. :cheese:

I found this video, it's a little easier to see hairstyles, though not by much...

Going from the style at 0:24 to 0:26 in the video Dementia1013 linked, I think her hair would have to be at least mid calf length, possibly longer. The braid she has at 0:56 appears to only be around tailbone length. Looking at just the photos, though, I'd have said knee length too.

But hey, whatever her hair length, she has some seriously fabulous hairstyles. :D

I'm going to say Classic length. I was able to dublicate the wrapped braid and tail and I have only tailbone length hair.

It's all about illusion. I'm wearing it right now, I wish I could find my camera. :(

Anyway you comb all your hair back and split the hair into two. Braid one half then split the other half (more into a 1/3 then a half) and braid the outside piece (the 2/3) part. Now you have two braids then a small amount of loose hair in between them. Wrap the left braid over to the right and the right over to the left and using some pins ( I used 4 bobby pins) to secure into a faux crown braid. Now simply LOOSELY braid the remaining hair and drape over your shoulder.

My hair is in a faux crown braid, and my Braid is just below my breast, but at classic length I imagine it would be at my waist. :D

Oooh, Dementia, I hadn't thought of doing it that way. I was thinking of it as one continuous braid. I think I'll have to try doing that style tomorrow. I'm all thumbs though, so I have no idea if I'll actually succeed. :p
