My wavey thick hair seems to tangle a lot less in rope braids then regular braids. I wondered if LHCers could point me to variations of different kinds of buns I might be able to try that use rope braiding or other twisty styles- fairly easily, nothing too complicated please as these are for daily wear...

Thanks!

This bun (http://forums.longhaircommunity.com/vbjournal.php?do=article&articleid=47) is basically just a braided bun with a rope braid rather than an English braid. It seems to go by several names around here though.

Theoretically, most of the buns can be done braided, that includes rope-braids too. The rose bun is just a ropebraid wrapped around like cinnamon bun. I'm sure other buns like Spidermom's bun, figure 8/infinity bun or Gibraltar bun can be done braided as well.

If you've got the length you can bun two rope braids into a rope braid classic.

Try any of your regular buns with a rope braid instead! ;)

I use Rope Braids for all these styles ...

Single Rope Braid:
Pinless Braid Bun
Flipped Rose Bun (http://forums.longhaircommunity.com/album.php?albumid=145&pictureid=52493)
Figure-8 (http://i306.photobucket.com/albums/nn253/AprilElf/Misc%20LHC/ropefigure8.jpg)
Nautilus Bun
Lazy Wrap Bun (http://forums.longhaircommunity.com/album.php?albumid=248&pictureid=9924)

Two Rope Braids:
Braided Chinese Bun (http://forums.longhaircommunity.com/album.php?albumid=145&pictureid=21706)
Hair Taping (http://i306.photobucket.com/albums/nn253/AprilElf/Hair%20Game/hairtaping1.jpg)

Multiple Rope Braids:

Hope that gives you some ideas. :blossom:

I don't know if there are any instructions for this specifically, but here's Hypnotica's Bun Article (http://forums.longhaircommunity.com/vbjournal.php?do=article&articleid=117) which has a link to a Flipped Bun video (and also the Nautilus, if you haven't done that one before).

For a Flipped Rose Bun, start the rope braid without an elastic band, then it's pretty much the same as a Flipped Cinnabun.

Hope that helps! :)
