Hello all,

I am new here and love all the supportive advice everyone gives. I was doing pretty good caring for my hair and not straightening as often. I haven't colored since summer 2009. I have been using EVOO and other oils on my 2c hair. Recently, I added bangs because I have had them before and they frame my face nicely. BUT, I don't really like the way the look with my hair wavy, so I have been straightening my hair more. Oh boy am I paying for it. I wash every 3rd day, and I have been finding so many more splits than before, and it's only been less than two weeks since I got the bangs and begin straightening more.

Are there any wavies/curlies that would like to share pics of there natural hair with straight bangs?

I'm going to grow them out a bit to do side bangs. I think that would help some.

TIA Everyone! :) BTW, I apologize for the pic sizes and poor quality.

New bangs - Jan 2010 **This was the first day after getting the bangs cut (thanks SIL!) and pre-wash, so that is why there is still the slight middle part. That part is no longer visible.

Your hair looks great, I love the bangs. The splits are just heat/stress damage of course, when I had bangs, I used to straighten only the bangs with flat iron, and leave the rest curly, and boy did it look cute. :D

You have the perfect length and texture to pull that off it looks like, you could always use a gentle straightening balm on the bangs with a cool blow-dry, it's a lot better than frying it with an iron.

This is me back in May 2009 after I cut off all the damage and dyed it back to black for the first time. The bangs were cool blow-dried with some kind of straightening balm. No ironing involved here.

Redneckprincess - Thank you. :)

JenniferNoel - Thank you for the advice. I don't mind straightening my bangs, as I will keep them trimmed and healthy. As for my length, I def need to stay away from the iron, and just stick to my natural texture. Your hair looks great!
