I checked in a while ago on the Wen thread about how I liked Hair One as an alternative but I figured it deserved its own thread. I did a search and didn't find that one already existed, so I wanted to give my review here.
My hair is in good condition and tends neither toward oily nor dry, so I chose the Cucumber Aloe. It was $10 (no Sally card).
I've been using it for more than a month now and I am seriously impressed by this product. My hair tends toward limp, but I had been COing for some time using diluted VO5 or Suave (different varieties) and usually that worked pretty well to clean my hair without making it all "stick together".
So I figured Hair One was pretty much a CO-type thing and I was pretty much right about that. The instructions really aren't too crazy. Wet hair very thoroughly, work in a certain amount of the product to roots and to ends (this may be a trial-and-error thing), wait for 10-ish minutes. I waited 15 minutes. (I'm used to waiting 30 with CO so this was no problem.) Then a very very thorough rinse.
The directions say a bit more can be used as a leave-in conditioner, but I didn't feel I needed it so I forewent that part. I let my hair air-dry as usual.
I was INCREDIBLY impressed. My hair was really clean and it was not limp. The product felt somehow "heavier" than my usual CO standbys so I was thinking I might have a lankness issue, but no. It was also waaaaaaaaaaay soft.
I didn't want to review it right away as I really wanted to use it a while first and make sure nothing went awry and at this point, I am still loving it. I love, love, love the way my hair feels.
Some people are put off by the smell. It is VERY minty. I don't mind that at all. It also tingles a bit. That doesn't bother me either.
So that's my review. Am loving this product and will continue to use it. Also, and this is probably the same for Wen, though it looks intimidating to read "...use 10 pumps of...", actually, that's only about a teaspoon and a half of product. You're not really using tons and tons of product but you do have to saturate the hair.
