I keep reading and seeing mention of "white dots". I did a site search and couldn't find a definition. What exactly are "white dots"? Thanks for enlightening a newbie :).

If you look on the end of a strand of hair and it appears to have a little white dot, that is a damaged, frayed end that is a split-end in the making and should be snipped off.

This is much more noticeable in darker hair for obvious reasons. When you see a woman with dark hair and layers that has damaged hair, quite often you can see a bunch of tiny white dots all over her head. You are seeing the damage.

Oh, I know what those are then. I don't have any now, but I've seen them in my hair in the past, when I was not taking good care of it. They would make tangles and knots more easy to come by, too.

Just reading the posts I was trying to figure out if they were talking about dandruff or lice or lint or something :p. I thought the term "white dot" was a euphemism for something ;).

Thanks for answering my question!
