Hi guys,

I am just starting my hair growth journey, at the moment it is bra strap length but I have always wanted it much much longer.

I use to torture my hair, constant dying, hard brushing to get tangles out, using a hair dryer after every wash and hair irons everyday! i am trying to give this all up but I cant let go of the irons!

My hair has always been totally unmanageable, it is just frizz, if I don't straighten it, it looks terrible, as in I cant go out in public like that terrible.

I am desperate to find a way to straighten and tame my hair without having to use irons anymore. I can even just tie it up to get it out of the way because with out hair spray it just all sticks out and looks crazy.

Has anyone got any ideas, tips, anything to help me out!
Em

Frizz you say? I'll be your hair is wavier or curlier than you give it credit for.

Here's the Wavy & Wurly Thread (http://forums.longhaircommunity.com/showthread.php?t=31563&highlight=wavy+wurly)

And here's the Wurly & Curly Thread (http://forums.longhaircommunity.com/showthread.php?t=369)

I would give them both a looksee and even try out some of the tips you find in there and see how your hair reacts.

Also, more information on your daily routine and the products you use, and if you have a photo of your hair or can type your hair that would be most helpful to us in helping you out :)

It's a huge board with tons of information so just take it slow and spend some time reading around :)

Thanks :)

I will have a good look through them threads :)

My hair, when i was younger use to be blonde and form in to lovely loose soft curls, now it is a dark brown and if i just leave it after a wash it just frizzes up!

I usually wash every 2 - 3 days, I use both shampoo and conditoner, i need to research more on this site though as i have see i could benefit from using just one, I use Schwarzkopf coconut & yogurt shampoo and conditoner, i apply Aussie dual heat, i let it dry naturally, then i use the irons, which i know is terrible and cooking my hair alive but i just can find another way to tame it! :(

Ive tried braiding it when wet and leave to dry but when i take the braid out it just frizzes right back up!

I am trying to find where i can work out my hair type but i can seem to see it :hmm:

Check the last link I gave you for hairtyping.

You sound like you have hair much like mine. I had curls when I was little, then as I was older it was just frizz. Once I figured out how to adapt to my curls, I got great curls back. Curls are hard because a lot of us require lots of product and special handling to coax them out from frizz into actual curls. We tend to be in the mid 2-low 3 range in hairtype.

Here is my original hairtyping photos (we hairtype by wash and dry with no product, this is not good for hairtyping curlies. I believe I was originally typed as a 2b)

I blowdried my hair straight for the last 10 years or so.

Here is my hair now, using curly methods:

Now I'm typed at a 2c/3a, all because of product and technique. :) I've kind of made it my personal mission to push people who complain of frizz into trying out some curl methods, since they are probably like me, and just didn't know we had any curls.

I agree with Manderly. You also might want to check the temperature of the water you wash with, too hot water = frizz for me, even if I CO.

Ditto this! I can't even do some of the warm moisture treatments (SMTs) other people do on here, thanks to that. :p
