Braid bumps...

Well I was reading the other post about braid bumps and I thought it would be nice to start another thread about it so we can compare our "braid bumps"

I didnt want to hijack the other thread so started a new one.

Well here is mine...

I counted 16 on the left side. Its a bit of a wonky plait- I just did it quick and didnt measure the sections equally.

4 here. Maybe 5, if I braid really tight. But then there's no space for the elastic band to hold the braid.
Still a long way to 16.

I've got about 19 before I start getting ends sticking out too bad. My braid's shorter than yours, though. :(

i can only do this long of a braid because my hands dont reach the ends behind me... i dont have too much taper so i bet i could get in a few more bumps if i could reach

I had henna on my head now so couldn't do a braid and count but from my old kind of looser braid picture at mid-thigh it had 12 bumps on left side. Now I'm sure I can do a lot more bumps than that for sure :)

I honestly wonder who'd have the most bumps on LHC. Wish we had a poll for that. My guess would be Catia:D But eresh you'd force the limits too;)

I think whoever has the thinnest very long hair would have the most bumps. I think just the lower half of my braid (tapering very sharply and thin) might out-bump most of you. :D

OK, I counted and I got 15 bumps. Maybe it's not as thin as I thought. :)

I'd never thought of counting my braid bumps. lol I just had to have DH take a pic and see how many I had. Here's mine .. I ended up with 29! (if I counted right??) Did I or do the little ones not count?

sapphire-o - i totally agree with you. I mean, say i had a massive shed, my bump count would increase as my hair thickness decreased!

My hair tapers so much! I counted mine until they were about the same size as Sidani's.. I got 44 on the left side.. I maybe could have gotten more because after I got done I realized I didn't do it as tightly as I could.

I would love to know how many bumps one of the super long hairs would get.. although.. as stated above.. thinner hair gets more bumps.. So someone like Dianyla would get fewer due to her thickness all the way down.. It would be interesting either way!

This pic is about a month old. I'm at 7 bumps now. How disappointing! One of the curses of thick hair, I guess.

My sleep braid is very loose, so I only got 12. I suspect I can get maybe 15 at my length, and the last three or so will be teeny.

I just did a quick count and come up with 13.

I got 12 bumps, with a 5" tassel (my usual tassel length when I wear one braid). Since those five inches tapers more than the rest of my hair, braiding as far as possible gave 18 bumps... The last few bumps were of course very tiny then.

Braiding as far as possible I got 34.
About 2/3 of the bumps in the lower half, there is some taper going on, I think.
Now I´m thinking about diagrams and graphs :wacko: hope I can sleep.

I've got 11 bumps if you count the weird one at the very top (above my hair line) and the tiny one at the bottom. Normally I would leave a larger tassel than this. Sorry its out of focus.

You can bring it up straight over your head to do the rest when it gets where you can't reach it. Some pull it over a shoulder or bend over to do the rest too with the braid over the head. I like bringing it over my head, works really well! Just wanted to say that if you didn't already know!

OK, I normally braid loosely, and last night when I made my sleep braid I asked my SO to count the bumps. It is to his credit that he neither sighed nor rolled his eyes! :D Anyway, he counted 8 bumps on the left.

This morning I rebraided much more tightly than usual. Took a pic, and - it's 8 bumps again! How is that possible?

I get 5, but a braid won't stay on me because of layers, it tends to loosen up quite a bit no matter how tightly I make it. I don't think I'd get quite that many bumps if my hair wasn't so layered (natural layers from growing out from a buzzcut without any trims, plus face-framing layers). :shrug:

Two bumps! My braid goes to shoulder length. It's nothing compared to the other people in this thread, but when I joined LHC, I couldn't even make a ponytail, much less a braid. My braid now is nice and thick, and the tassel is just as thick as the rest of it, which is encouraging. I've been taking care and avoiding split ends, so I may not need to trim for quite a while! My braid will get even thicker when my bangs reach it. I dream of that day...

That is easily explained. It is ALL to do with the thickness of the hair. The thicker, the less bumps :)

And also the tightness of the braid and the texture of hair too. Fine and straight hair is generally more compact while coarse and wavy hair takes more place and has more volume.

I have 13 bumps if I do my "usual" braid, which has about 3 and a half to 4 inches of tassel because I stop when there is really noticeable taper.

The way I normally braid my hair it's 9 bumbs, I have layers so I stop when it becomes too thin and it becomes noticable that the strands aren't the same length. I could probably get a couple more...

I just had to find out and it turns out that if I braid until the end (needed some donating from one strand to the other to even be able to do that) I get 19 bumps.

If I braid to the very ends, I get roughly 20 bumps. I usually leave a slightly longer tassle though.

Well, its been 2 months since I last counted braid bumps and Ive gone from 16 to 18. Well, 17 loose 18 tight but as I tend to braid tight I call it 18

My usual braid has 9 or 10. I could get a few more if I braided all the way down to the tippy tips. I tried varying the tightness, and found that I get the same number of bumps, but the tight braid ends up shorter and fatter.
