I think I had posted an anniversary thread, but I'm not sure. Anyhow, I had hoped to be at waist by the end of the year, but wasn't optimistic after a growth stall. Out of curiosity, I took some pics today and was really pleased with how close I came to waist this year after all that! Anyways, we all love progress photos so here are mine to go along with it.

My hair just a couple months after cutting it from bsl to pixie in Jan 08:

In November 08, I had made a little progress:

And here's my avatar, from August of this year:

I'm so happy I've gotten this far! It took two years, but now I have a great routine working for me!! Thanks for reading :) So many of you have helped me get this far and not throw in the towel, and now I'm super close to my goal of hip and I couldn't be happier.

It looks so strong, healthy and grew so fast! Did you do microtrims or just let it grow?

:D Thanks everyone!! :D Your replies all have me blushing. I'm glad I decided to post it!

Lioness, I did a trim back in April of about 1.5 inches, but that's been the only time I've cut. I do have some slit ends from leftover damage with the flat iron when it was short, but until I shell out for some good shears I'm not going to mess with them.

Wow, your hair looks great.
I can't believe how fast it grows (totally jealous here!)
Is there anything you use to make it grow fast, or is it just natural good luck? I'm sure I'm not the only one who is curious!

What I love in particular is what your hair is doing texture-wise now you're really focusing on its health....just gorgeous natural waves. It's very much like Kate Winslet's is when she doesn't do anything to it. I LOVE that effortless, thick wavy texture!

:p Well, actually I finally bought this liquid soap from work. It's french, but the ingredients list is in english. It looks like the name is "savon a l'ancienne extra pur marseille verveine." I guess that's "old fashioned extra pure soap, verbena" ? It contains no sulfates at all, it just lists standard soap ingredients like what I make at home. I can tell it's natural by the way it behaves on my hair. Anyways, it's more helpful to use than a bar because with a bar I get too much on my hair that I can't wash off. Then I use a very small amount of white vinegar diluted in water (like 2:10), let it sit a minute or two, rinse. Then a bit of suave naturals conditioner. Out of the shower, I've started using Vatika enriched coconut oil and sleeping on it. It's a little bit stringy in the morning but if I damp bun it, my hair has a chance to absorb the oil and not be tangly.

Finally I see benefits to putting my hair up! :cheese:

Thanks again for all the replies! I'm totally going to be glowing at work now :p
