I followed Elainehali's article on deep waves/snake waves : http://forums.longhaircommunity.com/vbjournal.php?do=article&articleid=82
I think I made the sections too small or used too thin of a cloth because they're more of curls than waves(I made 4 sections). The cloth also slowly slid down my hair while I slept, so its a little off-looking in the back. I'm still very happy with the results though. :cheese:
Here's right after I took the cloths out:

Very pretty! I think I'll have to try them in my sister's hair soon. :D (Anyone know how long your hair has to be for those to work? My sister's hair is only almost BSL.)

yes, i love that article too! thank you, elainehali!
using thicker pieces of material will definitely give different results. i used strips of flannel and it was difficult to wrap my hair around them. then i doubled them up, and it was easier; also, i liked the bigger waves.
since my ends taper a lot, i used that self-sticking bandage to hold it all together...okay, well, i used the stuff for horses...:o

i've been too lazy lately but i do want to try it again and take pictures! Thanks for sharing, Anywhere!

How on earth do you do these? Are they the same as rag curls? I wish my hair was long enough...

I use knee length socks to do mine and get nice big waves. I can't wait for my layers to grow out, because then my hair will be thicker and the waves will be neater :)

I tried this too! It worked great. I didn't think to take pictures. I used two bandanas that I got at wal-mart for $1 each. ( Rolled length-wise & not folded in a triangle first ) I got the idea from a blog for girls who don't cut their hair. I put both in back where braids would go.
Next time I will try Charlotte's idea and use big tube socks for looser waves.

Elaine do you by chance have a video on this?? I cannot for the life of me wrap my hair correctly around the dang strips. I know it can't be that hard, or can it? LOL......I really really want to get these waves! I have my strips all ready. :)
Please help!!
