Well, word has gotten out that I am very hair conscious. As a result, several of my friends asked me to do their hair for prom, etc. Now, my repertoire isn't fantastic, but I'm not bad.

So, I'm looking for simple hairstyles that I can do for my friends. Length ranges from an inch or so above BSL to hip length, and all of average thickness. If hair type matters, they are 1as or 1bs, and one 3c-er who is straightening her hair before she comes over anyway.

I'm looking for suggestions so I can have more to suggest. Please help? If you guys need any more information, just ask. :flower:

Have you had a look at the Long Hair Loom - Styling Station (http://www.longhairloom.com/stylingstationcentral.html#buns)? There are lots of great updo ideas there, usually with pictures and instructions. The bridal bun looks nice, for example.

ETA: because you're going for simplicity, I would also suggest that you ask your friends to bring small decorative pins/ribbons/hair ornaments that will match their outfit that you can work into their style, if it needs a little more decoration.

A VERY simple style (I need to put stuff in the articles section, I know), but very elegant, is here (http://www.network54.com/Forum/242462/thread/1054023744/The+Mrs.+El+Knot...+%28aka+The+Hairstick+Knot).

A picture of it on my hair (just above APL at the time):

I did my hair like this for a concert at the symphony hall.

Really easy....

My sister helped me do my hair in a simple, but elegant updo.
I shampooed and conditioned my hair the night before, then blow dried it...
I then put my hair in a pony tail and sectioned off pieces of hair and put them in sponge curlers...
Before the concert I took out the curlers and the ponytail holder, but didn't brush out the curls (this was to keep them from getting frizzy)... I straightened the front of my hair but didn't touch the curls. I did it in a french twist starting at the nape of my neck...
Here is a picture from the back. I was happy how it turned out. Thanks to my sister and her help

Here are pictures of the front and back...
