If there is another thread out there on this subject forgive me. Sometimes when I feel bad about my hair being all weird and awkward in this "growing out" phase I pop in a DVD and watch some beautiful long hair and then I feel all better.

Which movies are your hair inspiration flicks? I like....

The Lord of the Rings trilogy, Arwen's hair :thudpile:
Practical Magic, the sister's hair (can't think of their names, but omg what awesome hair)

Splash, yay for Mermaid hair!!

Okay, so I know that they all have to be extentions but it still makes me feel happy and inspired. What are your faves?

Lady Amalthea, my favorite scene is the transformation back to unicorn:

Most of the english voices are so horrible in the movie though...I prefer to watch it in German.

When I was a child I always wanted hair like princess Jasmine's in Aladdin. And my other inspiration is empress Sissi.

Hmmm, most of mine have already been listed...

One movie that has drool-worthy hair is Bram Stoker's Dracula!!! It's the only movie I've ever found Gary Oldman attractive in, though (lol)

Okay, so I know that they all have to be extentions but it still makes me feel happy and inspired.

Actually, the all of the actors/actresses for LOTR wore wigs, not extentions. One of the LOTR commentaries mentioned how all these russian women with beautiful long tresses sold their hair- hence the lovely wigs for the movie. :bluesmile So it is possible to have hair like that. ^^ All the elves inspire me.. such lovely hair! :D

It is amazing to me that I just can't seem to spot a wig to save my life. It is SO interesting to get some of the back story on that great hair. Thanks ArienEllariel for clueing me in!!

P.S. I love, love, love the Last Unicorn as well. I count it as one of my favorite movies of all times.

I'm surprised no one has said The 10th Kingdom. It was an old mini-series from the 90s, with loads of famous people. It's my favorite. In one part of the series the heroine gets cursed by gypsies with long hair! It gets so long that it practically grows up the stairs. "I'm going to die of long hair!" she exclaims in the episode. Loads of fun and very family friendly.

There's the obvious Star Wars, with longhairs like Princess Leia and Amidala.
Another one of my favorites is Emma, who wears the loveliest more practical hairstyles out there.

I saw the new Alice In Wonderland (with Johnny Depp) when it showed at the dollar theatre - anyone notice in the beginning scenes of the garden party, there's a girl ascending the stone steps in the background with at least classic hair (hard to tell the exact length as she was wearing a ballgown)?

My inspiration is "The other Boleyn girl". Length is awesome and updos... I love them. That's why I want to have long hair.

The Lord of the Rings, the Mists of Avalon, the most recent Robin Hood (Cate Blanchett and the gal who played the French princess had gorgeous hair!), Bram Stoker's Dracula...there have to be more that I can't think of right now! I especially liked Cate Blanchett's hair in Robin Hood -long brown hair doesn't get enough screen time.

Lord of the Rings. Just... every single woman in that trilogy (and some of the men!). The original Star Wars trilogy, as well, I always wanted Princess Leia's hair.

And of course, my first thought when I saw the new Robin Hood movie was: "I want Marion's hair."

BBC's adaptation of Pride and Prejudice as well. Elizabeth Bennett had some amazing styles (and Colin Firth as Darcy certainly helps :eyebrows:)

Like everyone else, I enjoy LOTR for hair inspiration. Everyone in that film had awesome hair, the women, the men, the elves .. everyone ! Even the old wizards had thick healthy hair to die for.

I also like Merlin, The Mists of Avalon, Dances With Wolves, Legends of the Fall, Sleepy Hollow, and Ever After. :p

Katherine Ross in the original Stepford Wives. Although now that I look at it, her hair doesn't seem as long as I remember it being!

Also, the biggest inspiration for me is Droupadi in The Mahabharata by Peter Brooks. Her hair is knee length, black and thick and she wears it down for the entire last two-thirds of the movie (because she swears not to put it up until her enemy is killed). I can't find any pics from the movie, but here is a drawing of Draupadi's most famous scene when the bad guys try to tear her clothes off and God creates a miracle so that her sari just keeps going and going, never revealing her.

(I also love Last Unicorn and the book is even more amazing)

Just finished watching another one: Valerie and Her Week of Wonders.
The title character has very pretty light brown APL hair, and her grandmother has platinum hair that looks pretty long, even in a bun. When the grandmother is turned young again by a vampire, she has to-die-for copper hair that she wears in a long (waist length?) ponytail with curls in the front. Another character, Hedvika, has waist length, maybe past, dark brown hair. I think Elsa's (the grandmother) is my favorite.

LOTR definitely, I WILL have Arwen's hair one day...only red :D, and I like Keira Knightley's updos in POTC. Most Tim Burton movies have lovely long hair too, expecially loved the updos and Alice's waves in Alice in Wonderland and Christina Ricci's hair in Sleepy Hollow. Ever since I was a little girl watching First Knight with my mom, I wanted Julia Ormond as Guinevere's hair. I can't find a good picture of it anywhere but it was so long and thick and gorgeous, even though it has to have been extensions or a wig.

Any movie with Amanda Seyfried os Scarlett Johansen inspires me (even though I have dark brown hair). I also love Natalie Portman's hair as queen Amedala in Star Wars. I like Tamsin Egerton's hair, particulary in that film Keeping Mum. Not sure how well known it is, can't remember how I stumbled across it. Lovely film in it's own right, the long hair is just a bonus. The actress has been in a few films since, St Trinians and the like, though I can't say I've seen any of them. After my beloved Keeping Mum she became a little... um... processed... I know the long hair took a hit and her nose seems to have morphed into something nature definitely didn't intend.
Anyhoo... pics...
