With the new year upon us, I thought it would be nice to share what you want to achieve with your hair in 2010!

I'll start..
1. Try to stop heat styling.
2. Try the CG method.
3. NO SCISSORS (I might do a final trim sometime this week)
4. More updos.
5. Reach BSL..maybe even waist!:D

So ladies and gentlemen..what are your hair goals for the new year?:cheese:

The last two years I've only trimmed once a year, so in 2010 I'm going to try micro trimming and hopefully reach waist by the end of the year with a thicker hemline.

1.) Get to 26" (February or so)
2.) Trim regularly to thicken hemline
3.) Try/consider 28" with a thicker hemline
4.) Enjoy my new long hair!

hmmm
I think I want to do at least 3 of these for 2010!

-grow to at least classic and finally get rid of my old black dye bit (about 4-6inches I think now)
-perfecting the blunt trim on myself every 2+ months(less then 1/4in each time)
-use shampoo bars/vinegar rinse (my 3 CV bar samples just came in!)
-Learn many hair dos to do on myself (98% of my being awake involves my hair being free-flowing currently)
-Make/find some hair oil (more variation that works for me)
-get to only washing once a week (I am at every 3rd day(not including wash day) or every 4 days depending on how you look at it)
-find a good way to dry shampoo that works for me
-do some deep conditioning treatments...(should also get a night cap for such days) :)
-massage scalp at least 5 times a week...I am so bad about that!

That should keep me busy I hope :D

This year, I want to grow out some breakage from bunning, see if the hair on the sides of my temples will actually grow, instead of getting annoyed and chopping it off, and hopefully reach APL curly.

It'd be nice if I could grow out my bangs long enough to reshape them. ): They're cut so ******n oddly.

1. No trimming until mid-September 2010. I hope I get to shoulder length, or close.

2. Getting rid of the perfectionism habit. Which means keeping hair clean, moisturized, protected from the elements, and not worrying about it otherwise.

3. Eating well, getting exercise, taking vitamins to keep myself and my hair healthy.

AnneAdeline
December 10th, 2009, 06:51 PM
My goal:
Reach tailbone with healthy(er) ends. I'm only a couple inches away right now, but it is going slowly because I've been trimming a lot to get rid of damage.

December 10th, 2009, 06:55 PM
1) Find out why my hair falls out so much.

2) Make my hair thicker(scalp massage, rogaine, I don't know )

3 )Now that my hair is even refrain from any major trimming(microtrimming is necessary, and okay)

4) If I make it back to BSL--refrain from cutting

5 )Not worry about my hair so much

Themyst
December 10th, 2009, 06:55 PM
1. Figure out where to get a better pair of S&D scissors
2. Grow to knee length (and keep it blunt) by the end of 2010

My goals (currently) are:
-Make it to waist.
-Get rid of layers.
-Obtain some nice hair toys.

Beaglebuddy
December 10th, 2009, 07:13 PM
- to trim hair as little as possible throughout the year
- hopefully do one oil treatment and one conditioning treatment with Roux Porosity Control a week
- continue on 5 mg of Biotin
- absolutely stay away from anything with any form of protein for the whole year

December 10th, 2009, 07:21 PM
I had one main goal for this year, and I think I'm going to be able to claim it as met: APL!

My dream for 2010 is to keep my hair in the best condition possible to minimize trimming-- and end up around BSL by this time next year. Is that feasible? lol... If it's possible at all, then that's my goal for the year.

I don't think I trimmed at all this year, though... I may need to before long. We'll just see how it goes! I'm out for length at the moment. :p

ETA: I wonder if I ought to go ahead and do a microtrim before the New Year, and then make 2010 an OFFICIAL no-trimming year... This deserves some thought.

Bellona
December 10th, 2009, 07:24 PM
- I want to try and go at least to May with no trims. I'm growing out layers so this might be a tough one.
- I really need to stop heat styling. I've cut down dramatically, but I still blowdry sometimes, and even more rarely, I "fix" my ends with a flat iron.
- buy my first "official" hairtoy. I have some cheap ones but they aren't strong or big enough to hold most of my hair up anyway.
- longest layer to BSL and beyond :D

December 10th, 2009, 07:35 PM
Cut of all of my damaged ends so I have a head full of healthy hair to start growing.

lillylonghair
December 10th, 2009, 07:37 PM
1. Keep eating healthy and exercising. I know it helps me in terms of my image and not cutting my hair

2. No trims!! I am getting one final dusting in January before I move but that's it.

3. To regularly oil and not just once in a while.

4.To find a washing routine that works for me.

5. Finally with all of this to reach waist length! I don't know if that's possible but I sure am going to give it my all.

Brat
December 10th, 2009, 07:49 PM
S&D all the damage that happened when I went to Aveda... and get the hair feeling healthy again. Sigh... stupid stupid stupid, it was so nice before I had to mess with it!

JenniferNoel
December 10th, 2009, 07:52 PM
1. Reach waist length
2. Thicken hair (more massaging, nutritious foots, etc)
3. Not dye hair at all with any chemical dyes
:)

I've gone one year with no cuts at all, only S&Ding for splits on occasion. This was mostly to break me of the constantly cutting my hair habit. Still, the girl that cut my hair last December did a better job than anyone I've ever had before and I think her expert hands plus my improved knowledge and care of my hair helped me get to this year mark without twitching every time I look at my hair. So, in about a week I'm going back to her and getting some light layers put back in (helps with my curls), my bangs cut back to my chin (softens my face), and getting about two of the four or five inches I grew this year taken off (ick!).

Then, I'm HOPING to go another year without another cut, with the first six months being that I have my hair down more! I don't know what my issue is with having it up all the time now that it's long! I'm going to try to be as good to my hair as I can be and hopefully get to twenty-nine inches come next cut time!

My goals for 2010 regarding my hair are;

1) leave my 20's and go into my 30's as in inches & hopefully reach a solid waist (more would be nice:))

2) to continue daily light coconut oilings to my last 3"

3) To bun hair daily

4) To continue with twice a week DC

4) To only trim twice a year & only a total of 1" maximum

5) To keep straighteners to the minimum

6) to continue with my highlights, I only have roots done 3 times a year

7) To not attempt to s&d as it drives me mad!

8) To continue with CO washes, with just one diluted poo a week

9) To add to my hair toy collection

10) To learn a new bun a week!

Thats all folks!

Let it grow. I'm fairly maintenance free as it is. And I like setting goals I know I can achieve.

Carolyn
December 10th, 2009, 08:50 PM
1. To get back to hip length.

2. To work on using up more of the product stash.

1. stop being lazy about S&D, do it at least once a week

December 10th, 2009, 09:11 PM
This is a great thread! :D New Years resolutions for hair!

1. For my hair-length to to reach top of thighs.
2. Once I reach that length, begin maintaining at this point length until my strange layers are gone.
3. Buy myself a couple of high quality hair sticks, and a quality brush.

ChrissieM
December 10th, 2009, 09:13 PM
I'd like have a blunt(er) hemline at full waist or maybe approaching hip. So, I need to start trimming my layers here soon. I am also considering growing out my bangs, so I guess my goal for that is to make a decision about my bangs and go for it.

RocketDog
December 10th, 2009, 10:10 PM
My 2010 goal is to focus on enjoying my hair, and not stress over length gained. No plans to change my routine - what I'm doing now seems to work. CWC, henna monthly, trim/shape as needed.

Heavenly Locks
December 10th, 2009, 10:13 PM
Hmm...

For next year, I basically want to keep doing what I've been doing.
CO mostly. Combing and protective styles.

My biggest goal is to get to hip/TB by the end of 2010!! (for me, that is a mere 6 inches from waist! yay short people!) I am currently just brushing waist...

Jeni
December 10th, 2009, 10:15 PM
Well I'm at "can I call this waist" barely while in the shower so I should be reaching waist very very soon... That being said my goals for 2010

-keep wearing my hair up
-learn more up dos
-slowly keep trimming off the damaged hair (over 1/2 of the length is damaged from hair dye so its a long process)
-might maintain at waist for awhile to cut off damage/thicken up the hem, not sure about this yet.
-be better about S&Ding

ArienEllariel
December 10th, 2009, 10:40 PM
Goals:
1. No scissors (at least until July or so)- I've decided I'll worry about split ends later. :P
2. Wear hair up more to avoid breakage and to avoid playing with it.
3. Grow hair to APL or longer. This in-between SL and BSL is killing me!
4. No dyeing or straightening.

December 10th, 2009, 10:47 PM
1. Get to classic by the end of the year...if thats possible...maybe...?
2. Remember that olive oil is my holy grail. Coconut oil, not so much
3. Make time (at least monthly) for SMTs
4. Use my hairtoys evenly, and try not to favor certain ones c:

Vianka
December 10th, 2009, 10:52 PM
1. Let my hair grow!
2. Get through the awkward above shoulder phase.
3. Wait as long as possible before getting a trim (earliest trim in May)
4. Avoid heat styling at all costs.
5. Make peace with my natural hair texture.

Loreley
December 10th, 2009, 11:56 PM
1. Reach mid-thigh length
2. Do just microtrims and only when it's really needed
3. Continue COing
4. Try to cause the least demage to my hair

Gothic Lolita
December 11th, 2009, 12:02 AM
-be at mid-butt by May, because there is a family meet and 95% are going to see me for the first time ever!
-use either soapnuts or a special shampoo to fight the shedding
-henna gloss a bit more frequently
-defintitely learn a few new buns, since Cinnamon, Chinese and all the basics are boring!

December 11th, 2009, 12:20 AM
well... I just cut off 4" of hair. I was at about 29" so I'm now at 25" (went from just below BSL to just at BSL). My hair has lost a lot of the bad ends, splits, etc... so...

#1: Use the comb to detangle, not the brush, sheesh!
#2: Worry less about quantity (length) and more about quality! so it's not waist, it's HEALTHY!

serious
December 11th, 2009, 01:13 AM
1. no trimming
2. reach waist by the end of 2010.
3. improve my braiding skills :)

ravenreed
December 11th, 2009, 01:21 AM
I want more U and less V in my hemline, which should thicken up the ends a bit. Hopefully I will reach my final goal in 2010, which is slightly short of classic, but I seem to be in a bit of a stall. More henna, no dye.

Arctic
December 11th, 2009, 02:01 AM
1) Getting control of trichotillomania and put it back to hibernating state (and preferably it will never wake up again!)

2) Grow healthy hair with the help of ascorbic acid rinses and no protein hairproducts plus ofcourse gentle care and lots of moisture.

3) Learn to love ALL of my hair, even the coarse, wiry ones.

4) Getting thyroid levels checked

5) Trim moderately to get rid of henna, to let the the new and shorter hairs a chance to catch up and to keep the hemline neat.

6) No more S&D crazyness. It's only allowed after a trim once every 3 months or so.

7) Maybe, just maybe, if my hair keeps growing like it has been the last couple of months, I could reach BSL by the end of the year?

Naamah
December 11th, 2009, 02:10 AM
1. Occasional trims to thicken my hemline and grow out dye/damage/layers.
2. Maybe get to hip length or even TBL with the trims? I might maintain at waist length, though. Depending on how my hair is looking I may let it grow longer and maintain there for now.
3. More deep conditioning treatments. I get so lazy that I just don't do them. :(
4. Hair toys! All I have for hair toys right now are one cheap plastic hair stick, and some hair forks I made by bending knitting needles. :P I would like to buy at least one nice one.
5. Learn more buns/updos. I only know a small handful right now.

I'm sure there's more, but that's all I can think of for now.

-get to comfortably at waist and with any luck get to hip by the end of next year (fingers crossed).
-wear braids more.
-keep to my healthy hair rules (no heat ect)

Hiriel
December 11th, 2009, 05:58 AM
Hm, hip should be achievable, I hope. I'm close to waist now, and hip and waist are pretty close to each other on me. I also want to improve my braiding skills, and otherwise just keep doing what I do (which is not a lot ;))

PhillyGirl1978@
December 11th, 2009, 06:16 AM
I am getting professionally cut on Saturday (about 3 inches or so) so I will be starting out the year with healthier hair, previously I had gone over a year

Oil more regularly
be more gentle and patient with my tangles
Use coney condish (Aussie) every 3 days or so to keep tangles at bay
Get trimmed professionally about every 6 months or so at least (1 year is way too long for me to go)

Maintain a blunt hemline (don't like the scraggly ends that my layers give)

Belisarius
December 11th, 2009, 06:54 AM
- no trims - learn to braid my hair

Ina
December 11th, 2009, 06:54 AM

- grow out my natural hair colour
- get my short layers longer

4) more pretty hairsticks!

December 11th, 2009, 07:31 AM
1. Find a way to keep it moisturized through the length.
2. Find a way to keep my scalp cleaner.
3. Wear it up more to protect it.
4. Because of 3, get 2 or 3 more hairtoys. :D
5. Reach 40" by year's end.

Oh, and 6. Help my daughter learn to take better care of her hair. :)

Grow hair, grow! :cheer:

2. henna to have grown out/white hair to have grown in to BSL or possibly waist.

1. Reach APL (I'm still kind of a shorty)
2. Continue with henna/indigo instead of chemical hair dye
3. Get braided at the Ren Faire this summer

December 11th, 2009, 08:39 AM
1) If possible and not at terminal, grow the two inches that I have left to knee.
2) Maintain at knee and let the ends thicken a bit. Thus actually trim more.
3) Train myself to stop measuring.... It's becoming a bad somewhat obsessive habit.
4) Organize hairtoys, separate ones that I don't use and could be given a new home.

JamieLeigh
December 11th, 2009, 08:49 AM
I don't really have many specific goals...I think I've reached the ones I really REALLY wanted, for the most part. Which were to find a good routine for my hair, and to try to maintain a full hemline and go longer. I've done all of that so far. There's nothing new I'm curious about trying, and I blame that on newbie-fever (I tried so much stuff right at first when I joined up. :p). I'm noticing a tiny bit of taper, but then again in less than three inches, I'll be at mid-thigh length, so that's probably to be expected. I'm keeping it blunt for now, and still seem to be gaining as much length as usual, so I'm ok with it. :)

So I guess my goals are to continue with what I've been doing this year, and see how much longer it is by the time we're ready for our "2011 Hair Goals" thread. :cheese:

melrose1985

2. Resist the urge to get a dramatic cut
3. Learn to love the hair nature gave me

Good thread. I hope to do the following.

- Continue CWC, oiling and regular deep oiling the night before wash day.
- Continue to wear up most of the time to protect it.
- Learn more buns/styles.
- Get more and better pictures, both updo's and down to keep records of where I am.
- Make and try some of the recipes, such as SMT & Fox's Shea Butter Conditioning Cream
- Try to get more length with a nice hemline.
- Try to be patient with myself and my hair as I grow out pre-LHC treated hair.

No More layers! Just some tiny occasional microtrims. I want to get to TB.

Find a shampoo routine that works.

Go natural with my salt and pepper. This time when the henna runs out Im not buying anymore .... hopefully anyway :o

marikamt
December 11th, 2009, 10:34 AM
To reach TB without the heavy layering I have now...... not sure if I want NO layers, but if I keep *some* they will be a very little at the bottom.........

to put numbers to it.... about 8 inches of growth for my longest length, then maintain while I catch everything else up....... I prob won't make it 100%, but I should get close......

Kristine
December 11th, 2009, 11:06 AM
-Find a good routine. I'd like to try shampoo bars, and if that doesn't work I might give soap nuts or WO another go.
-Thicken up hemline

I'd love to get to classic, but as I am just shy of tailbone right now, I doubt that is realistic. So maintaining and thicken up hemline it is.

Just seeing if it grows more than this, maybe to mid thigh...who knows?

redneckprincess
December 11th, 2009, 11:13 AM
same stuff I have been doing really

*no sissors (except bangs and maybe start micro trimming after reaching BSL, to get rid of remaining bleach damaged hair and even up hemline)

*little heat (flat iron no more then 1x/month

*continue with CO and weekly shampoo

* weekly SMT

*grow fabulous (BSL+) hair..(this is uncharted hair growth territory folks)

*im going to add a currant/photoshop comparrison picture so I can see how accurate I am....

My goals are:
Grow to around 40", (3.75 more inches! Woot!) and maintain, getting rid of all my layers.
Possibly get back to my natural color.. lol
SMT twice a month
Coconut oil, and Protein leave in every time I wash, as my hair loves both.
Try to lay off the S&D'ing too much as the last two years of dyeing it all the time has taken it's toll.

JamieRose
December 11th, 2009, 11:31 AM
- Learn at least three new buns
- Learn how to french braid! I love how they look but am so imcompetent with braids...
- Deep condition at least once a month

1) Get rid of the last of my layers!
I trimmed an inch an a half of a few days ago (aurgh!), so I'm firmly back to BSL again (though it feels like SL!), but my layers are now only one more similar trim away from being gone! :)

2) Reach waist length!
About 34" on me - should take about eight months, plus another three months for aforementioned trim, so hopefully by this time next year I'll be all one length, thick hemline, at waist. :) And then on to hip and TB! (2011 goals anyone?)

3) Try an SMT
I've been putting it off, silly of me I know. Maybe as a post-party season hair treat in January.

4) Don't get so behind with S&D missions
I went for about 3 months without S&Ding this autumn - it's been a busy semester. I'm paying for it now. :(

LovingLife
December 11th, 2009, 12:08 PM
1.
Reach healthy, pretty well hemmed (eg all same length, apart from slight face framing or something) APL hair.

2.
No more straightening.

3.
Come up with a daily hairstyle, which I can become adept at and will hold for sports.

4.
At least once have hair up and whilist walking in the street simply shake it down and let it free- :D childhood dreams!

December 11th, 2009, 12:11 PM
1) Have a trim for health and maybe another later on in the year, to get rid of layers

2) Switch to soapnuts, ACV and coconut oil.

3) Do first SMT.

4) Learn new updoes.

5) Hopefully reach waist, with healthier hair!

1. Find a stylist who can work with my goals and lessen damage!
2. Invest in a couple of hair toys instead of just looking all the time
3. Be more creative with updos
4. Get rid of splits
5. Continue to shape into deep U
6. And as a result of the above goals, reach waist!

I'm so close to knee it's killing me! I'm going to try to stick to microtrims every 5 weeks (I've been slack in writing it down, so then I have to guess). Once I reach definitive knee-length, I may consider maintaining to soften the U of my hemline (I want just enough curve so it's not exactly blunt) and to thicken the ends if they don't improve. I want to do "treatments" more often, like soaking in mayonnaise or Mane n Tail. I also need to learn more updos, which I always do anyway, but as soon as I get comfortable with a few good ones, I grow out of them!

I can't really control how fast my hair grows, but I'd like to make tailbone.

My plan is to just keep doing what I've been doing. No big rules.

1. Get to classic (so close!)
2. Take more pictures of my hair
3. Do more frequent honey treatments
4. Be brave enough to bite the bullet and try henna
5. Microtrim every 10-12 weeks or so
6. A thicker hemline

>>Reach waist (and possibly maintain here to cut off damaged ends and excessive taper)
>>Continue growing out natural hair colour
>>Get new hairtoys (I'm outgrowing what I have, and soon will have none)
>>Wear hair up most of the time
>>Use up all the current haircare products I have before buying more, no matter how much I want it

1. Get as close to waist as possible. (Bottom BSL is realistic.)
2. Acquire more beautiful hair-toys.

1. Make it to BSL by June. Maybe waist by the end of the year. I know that is very unrealistic though.

2. Trim out the damage at some point :(

3. Deep condition at least once a month.

4.Learn how to do my hair by myself.

5. Buy pretty hairtoys.

Goals!
I'm an overexcited newbie but I'm going to start with only a couple manageable things
a) no more bleaching
b) no more hairdryer
c) try henna while it's still short
d) trim when needed, but no hacking off chunks

Reach waist officially! (30")
Start micro-trimming away damage.
Grow out outer edges of bangs so they can be ponied.
Match growing out chemically treated length with roots. (Henna dying)
Improve condition of hair through continued gentle treatment.
Try using wide-tooth combs.

Welp! I have managed to go this whole year without getting a trim and guess what? It grew! I think I'm going to go another year without trimming because I really don't have any split ends. I'll only do it if absolutely necessary but I won't do it out of boredom! I don't really think I will need to though. Funny..it seems like growing from BSL to waist took MUCH longer then from waist to tailbone. Even though bsl to waist is a shorter distance. I'm sure its from avoiding unnecessary trims and not checking the length 10 times a day because I was actually pretty busy.
I would really like to wear my hair down and enjoy it being down. I swear the last time i wore it down out was in like..august and that was only for a little bit of time. I don't wanna be paranoid about damage when i wear it down!
I would like to learn more up dos as well since i only know like 3 and always end up wearing the 1 lazy bun. I want to keep doing scalp massages even if they make my scalp a bit greasy..sometimes even using oil for them a little bit before i shower. I would also like to try catnip!! I have been meaning to. I just got a pretty tea pot i can probably use now all i need is the strainer. Lets see..the other things
-Get one of those scalp massage things with the prongs because they feel nice!
-Decide what to do with bangs (grow out, cut back to eye length, or maintain at jaw length)
-Continue taking vitamins. Try to eat healthier but not too much pressure.
-Use ALL of my hair toys at least a couple times instead of picking a few and only wearing those.
-Continue doing lots of SMT's, oiling, CWC, CO, and washing only every few days.
-Continue to use sulfate/cone free products.
-Find a comfy non damaging way to sleep with it!!!
-Wear scarfs more in winter and a parasol for hair and skin in summer to avoid sun damage :)

Wow when i first thought about my goals I didn't have anything in mind besides to keep taking care of it and no trimming. But as I read through i thought of other ideas. Its not really a big difference since i already do a lot for my hair though. As for length I would like to have a very achievable goal. Id say I want to be mid butt length this year. Stretching it would be getting to classic length. But we shall see! :D

-Make it to iii of thickness (I have A LOT of new baby hairs growing)
-Continue to wear it up often very often

I'm almost afraid to write down goals, because I'm not very good at sticking to them! But here are a few I really want to keep:

Hair Goals 2010

1) Don't color hair roots! (Keep letting them grow out even though they look really bad)

2) Don't cut or trim until my ends brush past my waist (about 7" to go); S&D is okay if not done in excess.

3) Embrace the curl! Find dressy hair styles that do not require any heat styling or straightening for special occasions.

4) After the baby is born, remember to keep taking a daily multivitamin, and get plenty of protein, iron, fruits and veggies, water, and olive oil in my diet.

NurseMama
December 12th, 2009, 07:43 AM
1) Make it to waist if not hip and maintain there to get rid of layers.
2) I'm struggling right now to make poo bars work for me, my goal is to figure it out! I believe that poo bars are the solution to my SD.
3) Find the perfect henna recipie/ routine... I think that I have it, the hair ball looks promising, but I am still hesitating putting it on my whole head.

My goals for 2010.

1. Knee length reach.
2. My ends strengthen.
3. Distance between the laundry continue to increase.
4. Remain healthy.
5. Still more Ficcare do not buy.(I have more than I need.) :justy:

I'm a newbie with a pixie, so my goals are pretty modest. Went from 20 years of chemical dye to henna early this year, so at this point all my dyed hair has been cut off, only henna/cassia remains :cheese: With my fresh start, I think this is what I'll try:

1. Honey lightening
2. Henna/cassia roots every 4-5 weeks as needed
3. Absolutely no heat styling - blow dry bangs only (if needed) with dryer set to no heat
4. Only touch hair with wooden comb, BBB or fingers
5. Continue CO wash
6. Continue biotin (increase to 5mcg), DE and 3x wk MN
7. Trims as needed to bring hair to one length

With the above routine, the length goal I hope to achieve is at least somewhere between chin and shoulders, all the same length (except bangs) by this time next year :)

1. Keep my hair moisturized in the winter. I've been trying to track down some Aubrey Organics Honeysuckle Rose. It's been an adventure to say the least.
2. Reach waist. First sopping wet, and then maybe I can reach it curly by the end of the year. Maybe.
3. Minimal trimming but keeping a blunt-ish hemline (planning my next trim for April, a couple weeks before my wedding.)

ok.. i suppose ive got alot of goals

1) get past tailbone.. (a challenge with all the trimming i do)

2) try oiling my hair before washing it more often.. im a lazy girl and i need to do this more often

3) try wearing something other than hairties.. i got into the bad habit because i hate having to redo my hair when spontanious sleepyness urges me to lay down on the couch for a nap.. ive got sooo many toys and yet i use none of them..

4) wear my tail sock braid thing more often.

5) start taking vitamins again.. maybe not hair vitamins but something like centrum.. im sure some vitamins is better for my hair than no vitamins

6) wash my hair every other day.. ive become lazy and have only been doing it once a week.. its not working out..

7) be more gentle with my hair.. no more ripping through it

8.) use the BBB less often.. if i can do #6 this one will be no sweat

9) learn to do a french braid

1. No hendigo-ing unless I get down below 160 (only 7 pounds to go!)
2. No hennaing unless I get below 150
3. Try cone free
4. be at waist stretched

I'm hoping the weight thing will help keep me motivated to continue losing, and keep me from screwing up my hair (again!). The longer I suffer through this awful two-toned stage, the more likely I am to never use chemical dyes again! Maybe by the time I reach my second goal, I'll be happy with my virgin (and colour matched) hair, and I won't want to henna?

Good luck to all!

1. No cutting for all of 2010! Hopefully that will get me to APL, being able to pony it would make me SO happy.

2. Start to collect some cool hair toys for future use, don't wanna go broke all at once and I can look at them for inspiration!

3. Get a horn comb of some sort

4. Try soapnuts, they look so fun! If I don't like them I will use them for my laundry.;)

Goals:

! Continue to grow naturally curly hair to full BSL with out having to straighten it to cheat:p

! try to resist the ugre to re highlight hair in the summer. I loved them but the upkeep is horrible and i am really lazy.

! appreciate that my curls will frizz and i don't need to talk about about them:D

Hmm. I will copy this into my blog to try and remember it this time next year.

1. Reduce the bathroom shelf contents
2. Use something as a leave in, oil or conditioner
3. SMT while watching a film as often as I want
4. Cassia regularly enough to definitively decide if it's worth it
5. Not be too precious over length
6. Use up remainder of supplements and not buy them any more. Switch to a general multi instead.

This year with LHC excitement I tried all sorts of thigs I didn't need before and don't now. I let them slide with post wedding laziness and now my hair is more like it was, which was fab.

No more huge unwanted trims!
Finally cross tailbone
Stop shaving the bottom half of my head (or maybe not)
Keep it in a good condition, like always
No tying in damaging styles!

1. No trims.
2. Start braiding my hair regularly, and wearing it loose, instead of wearing it in a pony tail all the time
3. Experiment more seriously with wo, herbal washes and other really simple (for me) hair care routines.

My goals for the coming year:

1. Grow out my longer layers to waist by the end of 2010. I would say all layers, but my former bangs are still hovering around APL.
2. Develop a more organized hair routine and follow it.
3. Expand my updo repertoire and become fluent in braiding. :D

1. Go 'cone free to see if it works for me.
2. Try deep conditioning regularly, rather than "whenever I remember and can be bothered".
3. Remember to henna more regularly - I'm sick of seeing my roots coming through!

I don't have any growing goals, I just want healthy hair. In fact I'm pretty much set on getting a pixie cut in the summer ^_^. (Hopefully this won't get me branded a LHC heretic :P)

Oh I know what you mean with the poor quality drugstore brushes and plastic combs.. I have a bunch left over from beauty school. I even went out to get a boar bristle brush, but recently said, 'forget it!' now all I use is the occasional wide tooth comb to detangle.

Since I reached my ultimate length goal of tailbone, the rest of 2009 was spent in what I thought was benign neglect. However, it was not so benign - I slacked off on deep conditioning, oiling and leave-ins, and as a result the condition of my hair is not that great at present.

So, my goals for 2010:

1. Do regular fortnightly deep treatments (SMT, caramel treatment or a shop-bought product)

2. Do heavy pre-wash oiling at least once a week (every other wash)

3. Use a leave-in conditioner or oil after every wash, and in between as needed.

ETA: 4. Use more of my hair toys, instead of just a single stick or tiny fork that sit in my handbag at all times! (end ETA)

I also plan to continue with henna and occasional brighter vegetable dye. Oh, and probably start light trimming of the ends! (I said the same for 2009 :p)

this time next year I'd like to be waist or close to waist. (I'm almost bsl now) I'd also like to go the whole year with no trims. I shall become a henna head and hopefully my hair will be thicker, shinier, and healthier. And now that I don't have anymore curls I hope that my hair becomes more neatly wavier rather than this mop-head disaster I sport every day. If my hair gets thicker and longer maybe i can start sporting some up-dos

For me it is mostly to keep doing what I did last year :D So hopefully I reach hip (at least with my longest hairs) Since my hair grows in an extreme 'v' I first wanted to maintain at waist. However, I trimmed the longest hairs a bit, but it doesn't make a difference at all, so I just let it growgrowgrow.
Also I will definitely do some more hair-up-for-30-days challenges...I got lazy the last few months, having it down once or twice a week.

My goal is to focus on studying and forget about my hair for a while. Benign neglect while I do other things. I'm letting my layers grow out and having 1 or 2 cm trimmed off the bottom every couple of months, so hopefully one day in the fall or winter I'll look in the mirror and be surprised to see how much my layers have caught up while I wasn't paying attention.

1. Start once a year trimming for now to get rid of damaged bits (might get myself a pair of good hair scissors and start S&D and dusting but that might not be until 2011)
2. Make my own satin or silk pillow case or a silk cap I don't know which
3. Start my yearlong updo challenge

I have one big goal/resolution for the new year. No trims in 2010! I will however be allowed to S&D if I get splits, but at the moment I don't have any splits. I have a habit of cutting or trimming as soon as I get bored so this might actually be hard for me. But I wanna break the habit. I wanna gain length this year!

Of course I am going to keep my good hair routines this year. And another goal is to wear more protective updos, which will be easier and easier the longer my hair gets.

Same here, Lize. I haven't trimmed since August 15, 2009. I know that a little dusting wouldn't hurt, but it would just lead me to cut more and then more and, well, you know where I'm headed with that. :o At the very least, I should reach APL by the end of 2010.

Other goals:

2)Henna once every three weeks (roots only)

1. apply moisture like crazy, many more SMT's. (do Deep Moisture Treatments every 5-6 weeks right now, got to start doing them every 2-3 weeks. )
2. hopefully reach waist by July 2010. (hair growing very slow right now, but i've reached classic before so why i can't i reach it again?)
3. trim more often than twice a year, like every 4 months to help remove any damage and split ends.
4. continue to use overnight treatments to keep hair in prime condition for growing longer.

I want to continue with all the things I have learned since joining LHC in July 2009...COing, oiling, more S&Ding, and learning more updos.

In additon, I've made some decisions that will carry me through 2010.

- growing out my fringe (currently just about to stay tucked behind ears)
- doing monthly 1/4" trims to take a total of 3" of dry, heat-damaged, layered ends off, while growing more than that in healthy, virgin hair...this way I maintain length of waist to hip or longer, can still do the updos to protect it, and gain a bit of length while getting rid of ends.
- hopefully start collecting some quality and beautiful hair toys...

It should be a great year for hair!

Goals, goals, goals...

#1: First and foremost: Grow! Hopefully to at least collarbone.
#2: Trims only every six months. Start trimming away layers.
#3: As hair gets longer, try to stretch time between washings and experiment with updo styles.
#4: Weekly oilings and scalp massages.
#5: Eat well and exercise often!

I love your last point bumblebums! I will try to keep that in mind as well.

1) I will get a trim this year. It has been 2 years since last one.

2) I will keep doing what I have been doing because it works.

OR

bleach it golden blonde like I had it once before. I came across some pics and it looked good. The color suited my complexion. I did not know how to tend hair back then and I believe I could take better care of chemical treated hair. I have been thinking about this for over 6 months.

Either way...no chops!

1. Embrace my new hairstyle and be positive about every stage of growth.
2. No trims (hopefully).
3. Regular measuring - my "monthly measuring" this year was a total failure.
4. Trying not to forget about my hair during the school year - at least one good SMT per week!

I've reached my first goal of BSL curly and waist straight by Xmas of this year. By mid year, I want to reach Waist Curly and hip straight and then I want to maintain my hair until the layers grow longer. I may upon reflection decide to grow it longer but at this stage, Waist Curly is my final goal :-) I just want to maintain the same routine with my hair vitamins, jojoba oil in my hair of a night time, finger combing, conditioner only washes and doing microtrims. I also want to grow out my colour and leave my hair a natural black.

Looking back on what I wrote last year ... I did reach my goal of my hair being hip straight, in fact it's at least 0.5" past my hip but my hair is halfway between BSL and waist curly due to the bounce factor.

I am happy with my progress and basically want to keep on doing what I am doing which is the same routine as last year. I have added cassia treatments once a month to my routine as well. I am pleased to say that I have not dyed my hair for one and a half years since joining the forum and I am thrilled with my natural colour.

I think I'll grow my hair to hip curly before I start maintaining my hair as waist curly seems too short. Hip curly will be my final milestone. I will aim for that by mid 2011 and any sooner will be a bonus.

I've enjoyed reading everyone's hair goals in this thread! Mine are similar to many others...

1. firmly reach between hip & TBL when dry - the closer to TBL, the happier I will be. ;op
2. continue regimen of CWC 2-3 times a week, no cones or fates, and oiling.
3. henna - starting with glosses and working towards a red I love that is NOT out of a box.
4. dustings to thicken hemmie every 4-6 weeks or so.
5. learn to french braid properly.
6. eating well, drinking more water, & continuing to take Biotin & multi for overall health.

Hmm - this one is tricky but I'll give it a go

1. Try to enjoy my hair at it's current length
2. Try different updos appropriate to my hair's length and not pine over those I can't do yet
3. SMT weekly
4. Keep up my photo a month so as to measure my growth rate
5. Stay away from the salons
6. Buy a good pair of hair cutting scissors and try Feye's self trim
7. Forget about fairytale ends and go for what my hair is going to be good at - a thick blunt hemline.
8. Get to waist, grow out the layers and then ponder classic for 2011/2012 - too optimistic?

That's all for now - I'm sure I'll come up with some more.

1. Full BSL, maybe even mid-back.
I have to trim damaged parts but I try to let my hair add lenght as well.

1. Grow my hair out to a solid classic length. I'd love to be able to go past classic so that I can trim back, but at this point I would settle for a solid classic length.

2. Do more DT's and other moisture treatments. (And by more I mean... any. At all.)

3. Keep hair up and contained most of the time. I've gotten a lot better about this, but not as much as I would like to be.

4. Start treating it more gently - no more yanking through it with the brush, or letting it get all ratted and matted up. It really doesn't take that much time to brush it every day.

5. Find a basic routine with good products and stick to it. I'm going to be busy enough with everything else, I don't need to worry about how my hair is going to look on any given day.

4) Let bangs grow until 2011 (as in, get past awkward stage so that I can really evaluate if I like them shorter or grown out)

1. I'd like to get to classic. (from just-past-tailbone)

2. Use more herbal things and eventually find a cure for my greasy scalp/dandruff that's not a sulfate-laden dandruff shampoo. Might try tea tree oil.

3. Work on my bun-making and braiding skills.

4. Keep up with the Monistat to help me get to classic and combat the massive hair shedding from my meds.

By the end of next year I expect my hair to:

- Stand up at least six inches by itself without needing to finger and comb it while wet for fifteen minutes.

-Sway to and fro (lol getitgetit?) when I jerk my head.

- Completely cover the back of my neck.

- Engulf my ears and side of my jaw.

- Cover my forehead my itself.

- Stretch down to at least bra strap and at most mid back length.

That made me laugh - that's my mom's hair right now. We've been growing at the same rate and have the same length (when hers is stretched), but while mine is edging toward BSL at our 25" hers is edging toward the ceiling. Love it.

My hair goals for 2010 are:

1. Be to "Almost Waist" by December
2. Learn some up-dos. Any.
3. Master the art of patience and STOP TOUCHING it.

1. Hit tailbone. Woohoo!
2. Even out my hemline a bit.
3. Figure out how I want my bangs to be.
4. Do more SMT's and honey lightening treatments.
5. Figure out whether my desired shade of red can be obtained.
6. Learn some updos other than a cinnamon bun.

1. Make my scalp problems (dandruff :-() to disappear
2. Let my hair grow at least 10cm / 4 inches (more is always good, but not less)
3. Find "my" shampoo and "my" conditioner
4. Perhaps if 1. turns very good, I´ll turn to Conditioner Only
5. Make my washing rhythm to go from every fifth day to once a week.

1. Having reached my goal of waist I now want all hair to be thicker and healthy. Still going with plan to keep trimming at waist length as it keeps growing to get rid of the older ends and thicken up

2. More deep oil/SMT/conditioner treatments

3. Finally master some of these updos grrr, including learning HOW to make a GOOD upside down french braid. Some many updos, which look easy, elude me

- Reach APL or slightly beyond by the end of the year (just slightly above shoulder length now)
- Only trim every 6 months
- Do deep conditioning treatments once a week instead of being lazy and only doing once a month
- Get my shortest layers to shoulder length
- Keep heat styling to a minimum!
- Embrace my natural waves and learn how to do something with them
- No shampoo; CO washes w/ ACV rinses and daily oiling
- Start takin biotin and MSM to help with hair growth

1. I originally plotted that I would just about reach classic by Christmas of 2010, but I think it is now more likely that I will be a little past tailbone by then. So my big goal for the year is to reach tailbone.

2. I want to try to wear more updos. My hair is getting to the length where it is becoming cumbersome and possibly damaging to wear down in the car, and I am in the car a lot.

3. I want to acquire more hair toys, especially ones made by LHC members, because I want to help support our community (and a bunch of us make really awesome stuff)

4. I want to make my own hair toys and go beyond making simple hairsticks. I want to try to make forks and bun holders. Maybe a few cool combs.

5. I want to achieve the perfect shade of red with henna... I'm almost there!

My goal for 2010 is to grow my hair so that the most of the hair mass is at waist or past waist. I'm also planning on trimming more frequently to get a thicker U-shape hemline.

I'm rather new to actually taking care of my hair (rather than just thinking I was) so I'm not sure yet what it can do when it's healthy. However, I would like to:

-- reach waist length AFTER a good trim
-- start using henna instead of dye (already stopped dying!!)
-- start eating right again, lose 15 pounds of the 30 I gained
-- take care of my fingernails
-- find an alternative to eating fish, so I can be a good vegan again
-- start sewing regularly on my days off

Good luck, everyone!

(Oops, those were all my goals.... just pay attention to the first two, they're hair-related.)

It all sounds so familiar what everyone says :)

My hair goals:
1. Grow my hair longer (but do get a mini trim)
2. Learn more hairdo's (braids mainly)
3. Try to find 'the' hair products for me
4. Make some time for extra conditioning of my hair, I am too lazy atm.

I would love to reach waist length this year, preferably with even ends. I would also like to decide what to do about my fringe.

I also hope to do a crown braid at some point.

-learn to use more hairsticks and keep my hair up more
