has your hair changed a lot in colour and texture over the years?

I have noticed that mine got curlier during adolencence and pregnancy, suggesting hormones play a huge part in how hair changes. Hopefully the menopause will give me more of a curl back!

heres mine

ETA-to show my colour back then strawberry blond http://i99.photobucket.com/albums/l283/joanna_eglin/age1.jpg

So has your texture changed a lot and how about your hair colour, mine went to a golden blond and then a light brown/red as I got older.
Dont be shy now!

When I was really little I also had curls and my hair was red or maybe strawberry blonde (more likely strawberry blonde, but I tend to think of it as red just because I like red hair). By the time I was around 5 years old my hair was straight and dark brown. I got the waves with puberty. I'm posting from my phone, so I can't put up pictures now.

Mine got much lighter, it used to be almost black. Now it is med-dark brown.

I had wonderful pregnancy thickness which led to horrid post-pregnancy shed.

My silvers are wilder than my other strands, but other than that, my hair texture and color are unaffected by hormonal changes.

That's me in the avatar pic at about 6 years old, I think. My hair had crazy, tangly waves underneath and a sort of a straight canopy. My hair changed in my adolescent and teen-aged years: got straighter and flatter. Just in the last 5 years or so, it seems to be going back to my childhood hair. (I'm 43 now.)

My childhood hair was lighter, shorter, and curlier.

Here I am at about age 5. And then my DS at age 4. I'm still curly so I guess my DS will stay curly too. My other DS has stick straight hair.

No pics, but my hair was golden-blonde (actually platinum blonde when I was a toddler, and slowly darkening until I was about fifteen) and totally straight till I was about fifteen.

Not a very good picture. DS has golden brown hair. The length has been curled in this photo. I am the shorter one :D. My hair is pale blonde. The darker looking top of my head is just shadow. My hair was a darkish blone at age 16 still, and then darkened to my current brown over time. My avatar is darker looking than my hair appears in the sun, except for my silvers! Sorry it's so big! Mods please delete this if needed! Thank you~~ :)

I was blonde until around age six, much curlier and finer. Then suddenly it turned brown, thickened up and devolved to wavy. :o

My hair went from this:

To this:

From wavy, curly, and honey-colored to straight and dark. Nowadays it is somewhere in between.

I was born with very blonde hair and it became progressively darker throughout my childhood. My hair was always what I considered straight but when I started growing out my hair at the age of 40, I was surprised to see that my hair was definitely wavy/wurly.

Here I am at about a year old-

Here I am around 3 or 4-(after having curlers in my hair overnight, I'm sure!)

This one shows my natural texture at this young age.

Aww.. I wish I could post pics in this thread. My parents' house got totalled by a fire in 2002, and there's not much left at all to commemorate that my brother, half-sister and I actually existed before that year. :( Even a lot of my first child's baby pictures are gone.

But relevant to the thread - yes, my hair has changed a LOT. It used to be light brown, stick straight and VERY thick and coarse. It's now very dark brown, very wavy and has thinned out a lot due to health problems and having 6 pregnancies (but only five full-term) back-to-back between 2001 and 2006.

I'm sorry to hear that Jamie Leigh. :(

My own hair was lighter when I was younger and has gotten mousier with age. There's a few old pictures in my album of me as a kid and teenager.

Here is my hair from when I was a baby to now. The first four images are, of course, as a child:

Here it was when I was in preschool and first grade:

Here it was from about fourth to sixth grade before I started to grow it out again:

Oh what a terrible thing you all went through, that seriously made me weep. I know there only photos and you are alive is what matters but I so feel for you and your family, hope my threads not made you feel sad about your memories and that and I am very sorry you had further health problems, happy times from now on (((((hugs))))) xxxxx

Absolutely not!! :D I never feel sad knowing others enjoy the things that make them happy. It's wonderful that you guys have access to this kind of thing, and I bet that if I went to my grandmother's house I'd find a few things I could use here. It's not that I physically can't, really, it's just that I haven't made the effort yet, because I only discovered this thread this evening. I'm really sorry if I made anyone sad, but I post from my mom's computer since there is no internet at our house yet (working on it, lol), and here at her house there is nothing I can use in this thread, nor could I bring anything from home - and that fire is the reason behind it. :o

I didn't mean to hijack the thread, and I hope I didn't kill it!! :p I'm enjoying seeing the childhood photos of everyone else, it's really interesting to see whose hair has changed and whose hasn't.

I am back, with a picture this time! The photo below is my hair in transition between my toddler hair and my kid hair. I thought my toddler hair was strawberry blonde, but when I checked my photos it appears more "strawberry hair-colored-hair", and it was curly. I didn't scan any of those pictures because my Mom had me dressed in odd bikini-like things. http://forums.longhaircommunity.com/images/smilies/icon_eek.gif

I don't have any pics handy, but mine has always been brown and wavy.
It was also always short until I grew it out for the first time in high school.

I was blond with straight hair as a child, which darkened into an ash blonde as I grew older and appears only to get darker if my mother is any indication. Still fine and stick straight tho/

My curl pattern and thickness have pretty much stayed the same. I started life as an onionhead and it turned white-blonde and then golden-blonde and finally brown when I was 10. My hair is now getting more and more silver. They're just as curly but just thicker and slightly coarse. My hair started to thin a bit during perimenopause.

I was blond as a young kid, and then when my hair started going darker my mother started lightening it with this spray-in stuff that turned it the texture of straw. Maybe I can unearth a photo of the young undamaged version.

Much shorter hair back then. My hair got lighter at puberty and is now again darker.

My hair has pretty much stayed the same over the years.. Thick, fine, and almost straight. I was born with thick, very dark brown hair, and it lightened a little once I got older, but it's pretty much stayed the same. It feels lighter now because of the natural sunbleaching that inevitably happens every year.

I don't have any pics of me as an infant, unfortunately, so I'll have to make do with these. . . pardon the bad haircuts in the first two. My grandmother has no understanding of my hairtype. Ha ha.

Second grade. . .

One year ago. . . very awkward length. I put this here to show the color of my hair.

I've got a couple. My hair color is listed on my birth certificate as dark blond---not sure how accurate that is because there was so little of it. But it was definitely lighter back then.
Here I am at one year old:
http://i519.photobucket.com/albums/u358/sneakybea/sc00721c4e.jpg

Whatever color that is (and these are really old pictures, so the color is way off), it darkened to brown fairly soon. Here I am at three and a half:
http://i519.photobucket.com/albums/u358/sneakybea/sc00728a09.jpg

I had thick hair as a kid, and although it didn't curl much on its own, it took a curl (and later feathered---it was the '70s, after all) really well. My mom used to let me use her curlers---the plastic kind you used with clippies---and her hairdryer with a hood, and I felt so grown up!

I like looking at everyone's childhood pictures. Keep 'em coming!

I love these vintage photos...they're wonderful! I would like to post a few but do not know how. I have childhood photos in my documents on my computer. I know, I know...sounds dumb that I don't know, eh?
