View Full Version : Which celebrities DON'T wear hair extensions?

Yep, idea clearly came from the "which celebrities do" thread.

I do think so that most of them does. Now, let's collect the ones who don't, and we know (or suspect strongly) that they simply have naturally beautiful hair they take good care of. Please try to add image as well! There's loads of celebrities who are well known at one end of the worl, but not on the otrher, and we LHCers are really from everywhere.

And ereby, i start:
there you go, model Taylor Warren, who always sports huge, huge dark hair, BSL to waist normally, even on her blog pics
http://www.prestigium.com/local/cache-vignettes/L401xH266/arton1029-57d43.jpg

and one of the returning suspects, Angelina Jolie, who also keeps it at about the same length all the time, with no weird jumps between, say, APL and waist - so let's grant her some hair credibility

Others? :)

Uh, most do, at least at some point--even if it's just for photography or appearances. Whether or not they wear clip-in hair pieces or weave in their daily lives is another question, but it's really up to the photographers (and early on, agents and filmmakers) whether or not they have to wear them or not.

Honestly, I don't care at all. XD; I don't see why it matters if they wear weave or not.

Simone Simons, singer of the Dutch band Epica.
She has great hair, no extentions. I think she uses henna, because it's not her own hair color but it still looks so healthy.

She often cuts it back to BSL and then she let's it grow again to waist or a bit longer. I'm always unhappy when she cuts it (she recently did it again :().

Brooke Shields, of course, and Holly Marie Combs (Piper from Charmed), who has grown from APL to BSL and then waist gradually over the past 10 years- and stayed there! Her hair is gorgeous: http://www.absolutely.net/Holly_Marie_Combs/index.jpg :D

I'm not sure if Fergie (from Black Eyed Peas) hair is real or not, but her braid in the Boom Boom Pow video seems to have a lot of taper, so it looks fairly natural.

Hmm. . .

Tarja Turunen, the ex-lead singer of Nightwish. She dyes her hair from brown to black, but she seems to grow it out. Longst I have seen on her is waist, I think.

A friend of mine is a big fan of her and says that rumor started when she once put in clip ins in her very layered but long hair. Ever since the press likes to say her hair is all fake when I believe she really has (or had) long hair and was just toying around with hairpieces once in a while like a lot of celebs.

Thats cool! I actually just came across her a while ago...her hair is shorter now and dark but I saw this photo of her which amazed me:

Another celeb:

Chiaki Kuriyama

She was asked on a talk show if her hair was real and she prooved it.

You can see it well here in a cutout from "Exte"(not talkshow):

Umh and yeah don't watch any other trailers of Exte if you can't watch hair being the focus of a very weird horror story...the actual trailer for "Exte" (e ku su te) is about extensions that are out to kill you ^^

Angelina Jolie does have extensions..... just after filming the Changeling, where she has short hair, she suddenly appears sporting long hair...... definite sign of extensions!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

well then she may be adding hair pieces to her hair.... esp as she changes the colour, from dark brown, black through to golden and highlighted brown so often , its impossible to have that amount of hair dying it all the time as all LHCers know, even those of us with very thick hair....and in lots of angie's photos it looks quite obvious that extra pieces of hair have been added.....

Simone Simons is a gorgeous godess and half my reason for adoring red heads, if it's natural or not :P

范冰冰/Bing Bing wears wigs ALOT

but she doesn't have short hair really.

Tarja who used to be with nightwish? I think that's real.

I'm pretty sure she wore wigs. Most period pieces, I assume, would, what with the considerable amount of styling that would have to be done each and every time.

Edit: Also, a quick google seems to show me that although her hair color does change, it's never really all that much. She's gone brown, black, and maybe something that could pass as blonde if you squint really hard in the recent past. She might use hair pieces--a lot of celebrities do. But I assume the length is pretty much all her own.

Angelina did wear a wig in the Changeling. I have read it in numerous articles about the movie.http://www.pittwatch.com/angelina-jolie-on-friday-on-set/ This article shows some pictures taken during filming that show its a wig. The pictures might come up as question marks, but if you click on them, they should show up normally.

And about the Angie dying her hair thing, it is possible to dye your hair several times a year and still have hair her length. I know many people who do just that. I am guessing that she probably does where clip in pieces for big events, though.

I used to dye my hair quite frequently and never had an issue with massive sheds or the thickness of my hair.

I'm sorry that I don't agree with you. I just don't think she uses extensions.

I think Angelina actually is blessed with a head of strong and thick hair, I don't believe she uses extensions. And even if she dyes - so many people outwards LHC do and still a have pretty long hair. There is no reason that they can't grow long hair.

Simone Simons! My absolute Goddess of Singing, Hair, Body, Face, Everything. If I was a guy I'd probably drive over the border to the Netherlands and ask her if she'd marry me.

Leah are you aware of how long it takes for hair to grow?? LOL

Wavelength
December 14th, 2009, 02:57 PM
Well, I'm pretty sure Angelina Jolie wore extensions for Tomb Raider. Her hair was waist-length in a braid, and if it was real it would've had to be about classic or so when worn loose since her hair appeared to be quite thick as well. I can't really see an actress growing her hair out that long for a movie.

ETA: Found a youtube video (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eYCaRW-Vykw) of Jolie training for the stunts in Tomb Raider. Her hair is between shoulder and BSL in the video. I'm pretty sure they went with extensions, as I don't think a wig would've survived all the stunts in the movie.

indigonight
December 14th, 2009, 04:35 PM
I agree 100% wavelength, besides which the thickness of her hair in that braid does not match the thickness she seems to have when wearing shorter hair loose. And you are right it takes a long time to grow hair that long, all of us growing hair that length know.....!

I dont want to brag but my braid is now that thick but that is after a year of completely natural hair regime, everything organic, no blowdrying, no styling, just 100% TLC, deep oiling and plant care.....which has restored my hair from its previously dyed/blowdried/commercial products state.
So that hair has to be an extension...

A lot of people dont like to think that celebrities wear extensions and would rather imagine its 'their' hair but to be honest with all the constant blow drying, styling, dying, use of alcohol based products that are generally used in Hollywood -every day on set their hair is blowdried, styled and kept in place with nasty sprays, gels etc-
it really is hard for celebrities to have nice hair naturally, beneath all the gunk and blowdrying! so they opt for pieces and extensions....I mean how many celebrities are there on LHC? ;-)
I really think most people do not know how to care for their hair, its just a matter of correct education... it is so easy to entrust it to stylists who do not know what they are doing.... this is a bit of a rant but I realized this after years of paying loads of money to my 'top stylist' hairdresser who was basically frying and drying out my thick hair and turning it into straw every time I saw him with dyes, perms, curling irons, chemical-filled products....

I for one have completely changed my hair routine since I discovered LHC, no more blow drying, nor more alcohol-based products, no cones, no styling, no dyeing and my hair has never ever been happier....

I sing praises to LHC and I am sure I speak for all of us when I say we are blessed to have discovered a way to take care of our hair without damaging it, in the way 80% of people I know seem to do....

I love LHC!

I guess they're not exactly celebrities, but some of the female hair models at Body Parts Models (http://www.bodypartsmodels.com/home.html) have lovely, fairly long hair. My favorite is Doris Weldon... on her card, they refer to her hair color as "feisty pumpkin". Love it!

I forgot about Tomb Raider, honestly--yeah, those are probably extensions, but it's freaking Lara Croft. xD; Any actress playing that role would have to wear them.

I still don't think she wears them on a regular basis, and indigonight, even if she had cut her hair for changeling, it's not impossible for her hair to grow back to that length in that amount of time. With the time it takes for a movie to come out after filming (sometimes over two years), and with the styling done to the wig (which would be done to her own hair), the straight length grown out would only be about 6 inches, which you can grow in a year if you have an average growth rate.

Also, I use gels on a daily basis, and I'm fairly certain my hair isn't nasty. It is possible to have fairly nice hair, even with intense styling. :HC tells us that each hair is as delicate as a flower petal, but they aren't always. Coarse hair, for example, can take a beating before it looks bad, honestly, and I have a friend who's bleached her hair over and over and over again (at least 6 times at this point) on the entire length, and her hair is fine--it even grew out from shoulder to APL in the last year. Yes, some hair is delicate, but not always.

The reason LHC puts this theory forth is really for people who are growing beyond the average of BSL, or those with fine, or easily damaged hair. People can get away with a ton of stuff if they're maintaining at BSL and can cut off the damage. It's once you get to like, waist and below that you have to be careful.

Hell, there was even a playboy model who had floor length hair that was heat styled and bleached, and it looked great.

Also, cones are not evil, and buns are a form of styling (which can be damaging, in all honesty).
