View Full Version : Any **Aliarose** fans out there?

We have threads for a ton of etsy vendors, but I did a search and couldn't find any for Aliarose (http://www.etsy.com/shop/Aliarose) specifically. So I thought I'd start one. :D

I have purchased several sticks from her and I love them all. She's also very open to customs, which is nice. When I get home tonight I'll update this post with at least once picture of an Aliarose stick in my hair.

But until then, I'd like to see yours! Has anyone shopped at this store? Anyone have action pics?

I know a lot of people complain that her sticks are too short, but she's coming out with a lot more that (http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=35597470) are (http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=23484026) longer (http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=35374210) now (http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=35482667). And I love her funky colour change (http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=35683389) or glow in the dark (http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=35720380) stuff.

Cute stuff. I've never heard of her. :)

I'm not a fan of metal sticks (too slippery), but I love her chignon pins......just not the price

Thanks for sharing, I look forward to future action shots :D

Manderly - most of her sticks are wood, painted with metal paint. Certainly all the ones I linked to were wood. Is that still too slippery?

I have no idea how much chignon pins typically go for, so I can't comment on that. But I find most of her sticks to be extremely well priced. Anytime I can get a pretty hair stick for 15 or 18 bucks, I'm happy! :D

Hehehe, anything is too expensive for me right now....pay no attention :D

I have no idea about wooden sticks with metal paint, never tried one :D

I have several of her pieces...the Peacock stick, the "And now for something completely different" stick that changes colors in light, a fairy pink stick, the Autumn Harvest stick, and one that glows in the dark. I do really like her work, especially for dressier occasions, because it's so delicate and girlish. At this point, with waist-length hair, I can still use the shorter sticks in SOME buns as singletons, but mainly use two at a time. The Peacock stick, a newer piece, is longer and sturdier.

I DO like her work, very much. :)

You'll have to give me some time to take snaps and get them uploaded! lol But I shall. I DO have a couple of action shots of the peacock stick and of the pink glow in the dark stick (I was proving to my friend that hairsticks would hold her hair! lol):

I am an Aliarose fan! She should definitely have her own thread!

Here (http://forums.longhaircommunity.com/picture.php?albumid=3961&pictureid=50833) is an action picture with my Ladybells hair stick.

At first I thought it was too short, but as you can see it works perfectly for my lazy wrap bun. I only have thought I needed longer sticks, but the truth is... the longer sticks just get in my way! Anything around 5 inches usable length, and then a topper over that is perfect for my hair.

She just did a custom order for me that I am very excited about! She made my "Wind in her hair (http://www.etsy.com/view_transaction.php?transaction_id=22344589)" hair stick! I am looking forward to getting it. :cheese: She is very nice about working with you to get exactly what you imagined.

If anyone thinks her hair sticks are too short, she is great about custom orders so if you see something you like, then just request a longer stick.

I have several sticks from her and found them to be very nice and she is great to work with. Buy with confidence!

Oh, I forgot! She made a custom bluebird and birdhouse stick set which is adorable. When I am able to take photo, I will post. I love the glow in the dark snowman!

I agree about the length. She does have longer ones on her site now and I suspect will be focusing more on longer sticks from here on in. But I really like the shorter ones. They are extremely useful and pretty and a nice change of pace from the 6" onces I normally use.

Here are some action shots!

I love her stuff! She is a delight to do business with!

I have a pair of each of these. No action shots, I just took these quickly to post here before I head off to work:

Hmmm, this turned out smaller than I'd hoped. One is a kitty, the other is an Egyptian kartush. The long stick is actually a deeper brown than shows here, and the kitty stick is black.

Close up below.

Whoo hoo! I got more Aliarose sticks today including my most anticipated "Wind in her hair" stick. I am very happy with it. It is just what I imagined. She does beautiful work & she is wonderful to work with!

http://img130.imageshack.us/img130/4673/windinherhairstick.jpg

For an idea on size, The Wind in Her Hair Hairstick is 6 1/2" in length with a 4 11/16" usable length. The dangle measures just over 2".

http://img6.imageshack.us/img6/8812/windinherhairstick2.jpg

These are all my Aliarose sticks:

Morning mist, Ladybells, Wind in her hair, Alexandrite (my birthstone- has beads of color changing alexandrite. And it glows in the dark!)

I love all of the hair sticks that you gals have gotten from her. I think that Ali does wonderful work.... So someone take and buy this one (http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=36620571) and remove my temptation.:o

I love these, they remind me of the old victorian styles, when they would wear their necklaces as hair ornaments and many other ways.

As much as I love the look, I decided that I already have too many crystal necklaces that I use that way to go with that look. As much as I like it. I have all of my great grandmothers rhinestone necklaces that I use this way... I think instead that I will get her to do one like this, (http://www.etsy.com/view_transaction.php?transaction_id=22560972) but I am not sure of which color. I was leaning toward a shade of green, but not sure which one. So what do you guys suggest? My birthday is coming up next month and I want a some new toys. :D

I thought something like these (http://www.thediceplace.com/acatalog/1243_Chessex_-_Scarab_-_Polyhedral_7-Dice_Sets_-_Jade_Gold.html) might be nice. And these (http://www.thediceplace.com/acatalog/QWDRpoly11_Q-Workshop_Dice_-_7_dice_poly_set_-_Dragon_Green_White.html) are also really cool.

But clearly, THIS (http://www.thediceplace.com/acatalog/QWCTpoly5_Q-Workshop_Dice_-_7_dice_poly_set_-_Cthulhu_Glow_in_the_Dark_with_Cthulhu_dice_bag.ht ml) is the winner! I found them while looking for dice for you, but now I think I'll get a set for some friends of mine for Christmas. :D

Thank you both for the links, I love those die!!!! Especially the glow in the dark ones. I liked the ones that she just put up and they have already sold, Yea for her! But I need ones that are silver instead of the gold. I just don't do gold for the most part, but I am very into silver. I think most likely I will just do a custom with her, that way I can get exactly what I want, and support a fellow artist. :D
Next month is my birthday, so I will most likely do it then. Have any of you done a custom with her?

That is okay, Lovie, I have asked for a silver or green stick as I am not as into gold. While I do wear it sometimes, my basic color's are silver or copper, and so silver and green for me is good! :D

Simone, looks like I snagged one of the two you loved - I'll send action pics when it comes home.

Got Hyacinth stick (http://www.etsy.com/view_transaction.php?transaction_id=27077270), Sodalite bobbies (http://www.etsy.com/view_transaction.php?transaction_id=27077271), and Goth Girl bobbies (http://www.etsy.com/view_transaction.php?transaction_id=27077269)

I did however leave the Bleeding Hearts stick for someone else since I'm not really in need of THAT many sticks and I wanted the Hyacinth one more.

I've been snagging bobbies left and right, my hair is too short and needs the help to stay back. Now since I'm a redhead again, ANY pin is noticable in my hair, so I've decided I'm going to horde, I mean collect the pretty ones.

Oh yeah, that's why also - the Bleeding Hearts one is on gold, and while there isn't much, I really don't wear it....

I asked her to change the sticks to a darker stain, which she did with no problem, and I got a free pair of matching earrings! I got these sticks to celebrate the Vernal Equinox, and everyone loved them! I will definitely be ordering from her again.
And, she is offering some of her items on sale right now!

I don't have a digital camera, so I can't post action pics (boooo!), but it's even prettier in person.

Simone, I love the Tealicious one too! I decided on mine instead because I wear the aqua/seafoamy colors more, but it was a hard decision!

This is my first stick with dangles, so it remains to be seen if they get tangled in my assorted wisps. Does anyone else have that problem?

saskia_madding
March 26th, 2010, 04:52 PM
I don't have any dangly Aliarose sticks, but sometimes the dangles on sticks from other sellers do get tangled in my wispies ... of which I have A TON! But I've never had damage from it. I just *gently* pull and they come undone.

MandyBeth
March 26th, 2010, 05:10 PM
Aliarose's danglies look like the "okay" ones I have from other sellers. The seams on the rings and such look smooth and nicely finished, so even if my hair does thread into them (which my hair does on a regular basis), it's easy to gently slip out and without the rough seam, it doesn't snag or snap my hair.

But I've not tested hers yet, just drooled over them until now :)

I totally want a pair of glow in the dark hairsticks for going cosmic (black light) bowling with DH, but I'm not a fan of danglies or even gems on hairsticks at all. I'll continue stalking her store for now, but maybe in a couple paychecks I'll convo her :)

I recently purchased my first Aliarose sticks - singles:
http://www.etsy.com/listing/63193232/hairstick-subtly-sublime-in-antiqued
http://www.etsy.com/listing/58317425/hairstick-midnight-bloom-blue-floral
I received them today - that was the perfect package to come home to after a long day...
I just couldn't help myself when I saw the first stick in her shop - I didn't care that it was golden and that I don't usually wear gold: I told myself I was going to make an exception for this stick. That's how exquisite it looked in picture; and it is even more stunning IRL.
The second one is adorable, and I love the matching earrings that Aliarose kindly included. I'll take pictures ASAP. ;) It is worth mentioning that Aliarose is very sweet, too!

Those are so gorgeous, Isa-Belle! I especially like the first one. I am lusting after these (http://www.etsy.com/listing/64153064/hairsticks-oaken-treasure-acorn-in) two (http://www.etsy.com/listing/64235675/hairstick-op-art-in-black-and-white-art) right now, but will refrain in order to buy my custom sets. :D

I agree. Her sticks are truly beautiful - really really well made, just as the sticks by Barefoot Maiden or Nightblooming, which is saying a lot. I'm surprised this thread isn't much longer.
I'm also pretty certain I've seen beauties from her shop posted on the "wear all my toys once challenge" thread, so it seems a number of us have hidden Aliarose gems that we should be posting here :eyebrows: :D

Saskia_madding, I am very much drawn to the Oaken Treasure Acorn hairsticks as well.

Jamie that 2D2 hairstick is amazing.

I have actually quite a few Aliarose hairsticks, I have one small pair of glass pumpkins, one stick with a large polymer clay pumpkin, several dice hairsticks and a hairstick with a custom Plans vs Zombies Pea Shooter topper, oh and a glass bead glow in the dark salamander one. I love her work. I am currently waiting for two pairs of cupcake customs, one pair is glass beads, black Gothic cupcakes with roses, the second pair is RPG D12 dice used as cake bread with cupcake frosting and such on the top polymer clay topped once so I am looking forward to those.
