View Full Version : Type my hair please?

I'll admit that I'm still not sure exactly what my hair type is. I tend to get a single lonely spiral curl in the frizz of baby hair along my forehead that I can sometimes coax into looking deliberate, but mostly it's somewhere in the wavy spectrum, and I'm not really sure where. I originally pegged it as 2c, but I've seen a lot of people with 2c hair on the forums whose hair looks entirely different, so I'm not really sure.
I apologize for the quality of the picture - I futzed with it in Photoshop a little to make it look not quite so fuzzy and dark, but all I have is a phone camera and a poorly lit mirror. And my hair tangles even in the time it takes to air dry down, alas.

If anyone could tell me what my hair type is, I'd appreciate it!

You have mentioned that you may have put 'a little bit of effort' into your bringing out your natural curls. In order to get your true natural hair type, you have to simple wash your hair and then let it air-dry untouched and uncombed. So according to this photo, you might have made yourself a bit curlier than your natural hair type.
According to the photo it does indeed look like a 2c. However, its possible that you may be a 2b as well.

I'm not good at hairtyping, and I'm not completely sure if I've typed my own hair correctly, so I can't help you there - but I just wanted to say that people's pictures might not reflect their real hairtypes. For example, my hair was brushed while it was still wet before I took the photo I have in my signature, and then brushed again after it had dried - so it's significantly less wavy in that photo than it would be in a hairtyping photo.

Not necessarily true. With curls, it's sometimes difficult to properly type without manipulation--sometimes, 3bs can be typed as 2cs, but true 2cs can't get up to 3b, even with product. However, she says that she manipulated with lighting and such, not with product.
I'd say 2c, going off the photo, but even then, it might be 2b. However, I will say that, unlike most 2bs, your hair is separating into definite clumps, which is a sign of curlier hair.

Whoops, I wasn't clear. Yeah, I did the whole washed, uncombed and air dried routine for this.
I hadn't thought of the fact that a lot of the 2cs probably have done stuff to their hair in their pictures that would minimize or increase waviness. That's a good point and I feel a little silly for not thinking of it. :poot: Oh well!
