I've seen your buns, sticks, and braids. You have some good picks so far. Have you thought about getting a flexi eight? They can be used so many ways. And they come with suggested hairstyles.

For starters??
I googled shoulder length because armpit length only got me instructions on how to get rid of underarm hair..lol

Have you tried a peacock twist? Here's the Ficcare video--you can fasten it with a flexi, or a hair comb, too: http://www.ficcare.com/videos.aspx (peacock twist is in the upper left).

Have you tried this one? (http://forums.longhaircommunity.com/vbjournal.php?do=article&articleid=138) It's a good way to use hairsticks on hair that's otherwise too short for them, and it looks complex but is super easy to do.

You order the Ficcare from the website. Click the 'hair accessory' button towards the top of the screen and it will let you click on the Ficcares.

You can order off the Ficcare website and you'll be able to choose anything in the catalog. If you want to try some on before buying go to Nordstroms. Somerset Mall and Twelve Oaks both have Nordstroms.

Nordstroms carries Ficcares. At least here in San Diego they do, but they don't have a huge selection.

ETA: Carolyn types faster than I do. :p

Not that brand. I got a Fakkare at the grocery store for $3.99 and so far it's held up. They may have a knockoff brand.

I was going to suggest this. I lived in peacock twists at this length. Enjoy them until your hair is too long to do it. Does anyone know of a good way to do a faux peacock twist with longer hair? I have been trying to figure that one out.

Definitely. With your hair's thickness, I'm guessing you need at least a Medium-sized clip. I recommend swinging by Nordstrom's if possible, and trying some different sizes just to get a feel for what will work. A Large may work, and you'll probably want a Large later as your hair gets longer.

If you don't like the limited styles/colors at Nordstrom's, you can just go home and order the style you like on-line. All of the Maxima styles have the same sizing. It's hard to know what size to get without being able to try one of them on.

I was gonna suggest this style. It was my "go to" at this length, and I loved it until my hair grew out of it. :(

I'm @ classic length, and can do a variation of this, but it ends up looking more like those claw clip-in hair piece ponytails. I've had people who actually *know* me, ask if it was a hair piece ;) I took it as a compliment. I mean, if your natural hair looks good enough to pass as an extension

Any who, what I do after a wash and drip dry (I do this style wet) because it brings out my curl form better. I comb my hair back into a ponytail, but don't tie it, instead twist up a few twists and insert a claw clip allowing your hair to cascade down over it.

I'm better w/pictures, here is one of DD w/her hair in this style. Her hair is TBL, and as you can see the style eats up a lot of her length bringing it up to just past her shoulders.

I did too for years and years before i started this whole hair mess..lol

thats a good idea, though I hate to give address/location of myself..no offence and i dont know what nordstrums is, but it sounds expensive if the prices are the same as on the link given above.

I did though find a small one at Sallys this afternoon while the family and I were out running around for like $4. and a bigger one at Meijer for another $4. so I got them both and Now I came back to do some research and learn some styles for my current and upcoming length

I actually wrote my resopnce in the quote but LHC dosent reconize it as a responce until now....

He, he. LHC does some strange things from time to time.

I got one from Meijer and Sally's too they are about the equivalent to the medium size Maximas...The hold is totally NOT the same. I did not fully realize the investment/value until I got my grubby little mits on a real one.

I completely understand your reluctance about completing transactions; but I can honestly say that I've never had an issue with doing a swap or transaction here. In fact, I've been pleasantly pleased with each one.

I wore peacock twists literally daily from APL to below BSL. They're not the most protective style, but they're cute and simple. Try some vintage styles too-victory rolls and stuff, you can snood the back to hide any awkward layers or a bad hair day.
