My doubt is...whether the hair grows from the tip or the root?? Does the tip remain the same as the hair grows from the root or otherwise??? I have seen long strands of splits in some people.

It grows from the root. I'm sure some knowledgable LHCer can explain to you how split damage travels up a hair. (I think it's kind-of like the protein on the strand unraveling due to weakness from damage. But I'm just guessing.)

Hair is produced from the root.

If you see splits close the scalp, it's because the hair has split and unraveled, like a rope.

If you're really doubting hair grows at the root, watch anyone who's ever dyed/bleached/colored their hair. their natural color comes in from the scalp, not the ends of the hair.
