View Full Version : What about your hair makes you mad????

Sorry if there is a thread covering this already. But one of the things that frusterates me is when im braiding it and im not paying attention and one of the weaves is loose and sticking out and im already like five more weaves past it....

Ooooooooooooo...that gets under my skin!!..:D:D

My hair getting caught up in my hoodie. It's not long enough to tuck it anywhere but its long enough to annoy me!

My layers poking out of my braids. i keep trying to tuck them in but it always fails.
the brassy ends from my last dye job back in october '08 standing out against my normal hair when its bunned.
how it frizzes out at the sides of my head.
the extreme taper due to the layers.

Nothing that really makes me angry, just annoyed:

How fuzzy my braids get
How tangly my hair gets
How dry my hair gets
How short my hair is

When I have my hair up in a nice updo...and I then notice i've got a "lump" at the scalp and need to take everything down again, smooth it out, and start over.

Argh...hate those.

1. My scalp, which is currently driving me up the wall. ;)
2. How tangly my hair is before I oil it.
3. All the layers that my cousin cut into it when she last went scissor mad. :(
4. That it's taking so dang long to grow!

I don't think anything about it makes me angry. Annoyed sometimes, but angry no. I don't like my 1C waves. I want it to be straight without having to straighten it. I also get annoyed when I get scalp show through with a bun. I have to carefully take a fine tooth comb and smooth the hair out. Pink show through scalp is not pretty.

Old almost-grown out layers poking out of braids is definitely at the top of the list for me. Second, how quickly the roots at the front get oily (typical this happens somewhere impossible to hide).

But generally I'm pretty happy with my hair. :)

It was worse when I was little. I hated brushing my hair, so I had a lot of tangles, looking like a little troll. My hair is still tangle-happy.

Ahh the infamous Braid Killing Layers from Hell. Hated they are!

Very annoying cowlick that causes a stupid looking part at the back of my head.

Short, fine, never growing hairs at the hairline. Hairs that have, on occasion, made me want to buzz cut all my hair off just to be free of them.

I have one lock that never lays smooth when I bun - it's always sticking out at a funny angle and I have to re-do it over and over to get it to look right. And I hate getting all the way to the bottom of a braid and realizing the hair at the top is too loose and unraveling itself.

November 15th, 2009, 08:47 PM
I love having bangs, but when they get a little too long they stop cooperating and they "swoosh" a lot? I guess that's the cowlick coming out.

I also hate the "brassiness" my hair can have.

When it gets caught in things. Lately it favors zippers, but it has also gotten caught in my Xbox 360 (don't ask), in my bra, in my desk, in chairs, and especially on the seats on public transit. It always manages to be a single strand that is nonetheless still attatched to my scalp (ow) and manages to get caught despite the bulk being in a braid.

The only thing I absolutely hate is the way my hair pokes my back and neck when I braid it. Even when I keep the split ends to a minimum, I can still feel pokies. Other than that, I am pretty okay with my hair right now. Even the layers sticking out of my braids are not too bad at the moment.

WOW!....I gotta tell ya'll...I had no idea that layers were such a problem. Im assuming because they havent been one for me for some time now. I can very much see how layers in a braid could cause problems though. I can just about braid all the way down though with no stick outs.....but another thing that annoys me ..(and forgive me for probably not using the correct terminology)....is when I do a braid and get down to the near bottom and realize that one of the three bunches or locks...wasnt big enough and virtually runs out before the others. Sorry for the very "male" explaination but I know you LHC'ers understand what I mean though...:o

The lack of my old 4 inch circumference.

My biggest frustration is that my current lifestyle (stay-at-home-mom to five small kids) is such that I'm unable to comfortably wear my hair down at this length (about halfway between classic and mid-thigh)........yet I LOVE to wear it loose. :( One day my kids will be old enough that I won't have to constantly bend over to get a tete-a-tete. :p

Right now, the only thing bothering me about my hair is that it's much too short. Other than that, times when it sticks out and looks messy. Which brings me back to: it's much too short to just put in a pony tail and forget about it. Sigh.

I hate my hair texture being so varied, the wirey curly hairs always tangle up with the fine straight hairs and knot which leads to loads of snappage and white dots. :mad

I also get irritated by the sheer volume of hair I have and how frizzy it can get when the weather is wet or humid, and the short curly bits at my temples and the nape of my neck with make wearing my hair back or up look messy. I also miss the natural paltinum blond hair I had 10 years ago. :(

What I don't like about my hair is:
I am trying to grow out my bangs - so they are at a awkward stage. They have do direction to them, they go every which way unless pinned back.
The short hairs by my ears don't curl, they just stick out. I wish that I had not cut them for fringe around the face.
My hair is too fine & thin, I have to watch to make sure that the "gap" is covered on top of my head where I have a bad cowlick.

When I'm trying to put it up in a ponytail in a space that's too small, and my ends wrap around my wrist as I'm brushing it back..

OR when I'm detangling it post-wash, move my head the wrong way, and get damp hair stuck to the front of my ribcage so firmly that I can't move my arm... (actually, that' one's usually more amusing than annoying, but not always....)

I love my hair BUT..the front pieces, some of the canopy, are stick straight and the rest of my hair has spirals, almost cork screws. I used to go to a salon and there would be raves over the curls but little do they know that one gust of wind and the two types of hair grab onto each other for dear life. Horrible tangles, snarls and mats. Plus, when I wear it down it looks like a 4 year old cut it in the back, the curly parts look shorter than the straight bits.

It's so fine and thin!

It gets greasy so quickly, and looks flat the day after it's been washed. I like to blowdry, so I wish washes would last longer.

That cows' lick stops bangs sitting nicely.

The wurliness and unruliness of my hairline hairs. The rest of my hair is straight and I wouldn't mind them being curly if they only matched. They stop my hair looking tidy if I tie it back as they ping out at the sides.

And the dirty blonde colour looks greasy if there's any product like gel on it, which prevents me taming those annoying hairline hairs.

It's fragile and the ends split easily.

Phew, that's a long list!

Hmm, I suppose I don't mind much about my hair. I don't get annoyed, or frustrated with it. I don't feel the need for it to have a different texture (it's half straight, half curly something mop head mess :)). My natural color is just me, and it grows. Sure, I wish it would grow faster though.

It just is. It can't help it. Haha

I wouldn't say that anything about my hair makes me particularly angry.

It does frustrate me terribly when I find those little knots in a single strand of hair that are almost always impossible to get out. It catches and tangles against my other hairs...making me fear that other strands of hair will tie themselves into knots.

Also...I would vastly prefer it if my hair decided to learn to speak my language and tell me what it wants, instead of sitting there, quiet and amused, while I bumble my way through various hair experiments in an attempt to find a suitable routine for it!

Right now, pretty much everything! I have overgrown shorter layers which are a nightmare on my thick 2c hair. There are wings and flips and poofs and cowlicks everywhere! It's also almost APL on the bottom but the short front layers won't go back in a bun or ponytail. It makes me so mad! Hopefully this awkwardness won't last too long, though :)

At longer lengths I don't have many complaints, except that my under layer is much curlier than my canopy.

-the fluff that makes a halo the day after I wash it. It can't really be called 'fuzz' if the strands are two inches or so long and STILL sticking out AND up....
-velcro-ing my hair (ow! I like the visor coz I can wear a bun, but the velcro bit in the back keeps snagging the lower loop of my bun... and all my coats have hoots with velcro... argh.)
-hasn't happened recently, coz my hair has been up in a bun, but with pony tails or loose - having hair caught in the car door...

The hair at the front of my head curls into the most ridiculous-looking patterns when I'm asleep. It used to be my bangs but now it's the higest part of my V-hemline.

Every morning I wet it and put it in a ponytail to straighten them out.

Not really maddening, just annoying - When I wake up in the morning, and my hair that looked amazing when had just washed and dried it before I went to bed, now looks like it has morphed into Ronald Reagan's pompadour.
Also - when I try to pull my hair back into a smooth ponytail but the hair on top ends up with all these gaps and isn't lying smoother or straight, even though I carefully combed it that way. The waves and cowlicks just pouf back up!

I don't think I have anything new to add but the things that annoy me are:

Braiding and then tying it off only to have a few hairs pulling at my scalp close to my head thah HURT and I can't seem to fix without totally rebraiding.

Those shorter hairs on the sides and around my ears and forehead that want to fuzz out and stick up no matter WHAT I do that force me to use a little hairspray now and then.

A greasy scalp when the rest of my hair looks perfectly fine.

Bangs that are the right length but still seem to bug me in my eyes.

Getting my hair caught in my reading glasses/sunglasses hinges.

Doing the routine that works 95% of the time and having it totally make my hair come out different!

Angharad
November 23rd, 2009, 09:18 AM
When I have an important day coming up my hair always seems reluctant to do what I want and when I have a day just doing nothing and relaxing at home, it is perfect, aaargghhh!

My hair doesn't feel heavy because of its natural dryness and whatever I do and whatever oils I use in my hair it always reaches a point when I feel the need to make it wet and put the moisture back in; that stresses me out sometimes.

My colour; sometimes I am at ease with it and then I want to dy it gorgeous red or black, but I know it wouldn't flatter my skintone so I must accept that this is MY colour; so be it.......pfff!

My ends are completely dry but because I REALLY want to reach hipbone lets say in at least two years from now on, I don not want to cut it, but it annoys me that it doesn't have the same smooth feel about it as my hair at the top.

The ringlet which often forms at the middle of my forehead drives me nuts, too. (Sometimes people insist on reciting:

Single strand knots :justy: Anything else I dislike about my hair can be relatively easily solved, but not those. Those won't go away without me chemically relaxing my hair or keeping it heat straightened all the time. And they are the main cause of my tangling and breakage. I have an absolute ton of them, too. The other day I saw 3 of them on one strand of hair!

My hair grows at different speeds around my head, which is frustrating as I want to get it all the same length.

Shrinkage for me too. I wish i could have the length my hair is when its straight, while its curly. Also, I wish it would move like real hair does while its curly, and not only when its straight. I also hated how the ends lookied so scraggly, so I cut about an inch off, and now I hate that too.
I also hate the fact that I cannot comb out my hair unless it is wet, without it turning into a big, frizzy poufmonster. It makes doing vintage and retro styles almost impossible

That I absolutely can not wear it "natural." If I dont clip it up or bun it to let it airdry, it will be huge and unruly. It's wavy but the waves are NOT behaved. Oh and the left side is almost wavy, the middle/back is wavy and the right side has ringlets.

I think I have an idea for my next post topic: bipolar hair!

I get annoyed at the ends of my hair - they are brassy and dry from my last dye job and straightening. The top of my hair (the top 12 inches, I mean) are soft, shiny, smooth... It seems like nothing I do can remedy how raggedy the ends look, but I am not willing to chop them off, yet.

I wish it would grow faster so I can hack off the dye.

I get annoyed at my layers poking out of buns and braids.

I HATE my flaky scalp. Nothing but an expensive prescription helps, and it makes me self-conscious :(

Frizz, and it never lies the way I want it to. It always looks nicest -right- before it completely dries, and then BOOM, it's huge.

Sorry if there is a thread covering this already. But one of the things that frusterates me is when im braiding it and im not paying attention and one of the weaves is loose and sticking out and im already like five more weaves past it....

Ooooooooooooo...that gets under my skin!!..:D:D

Thats exactly the time you should stab your hair with a porcupine quill.

I'm just saying . . .
