SMT and oil treatment

I just have a question as far as the SMT vs. oil treaments. Do most of you do both of these treatments or is it one or the other? I was just wondering because I usually do a deep oil treatment once a week and want to try the SMT but I wasn't sure if I should do both in one week or do one, one week and another the other week. Do any of you do both SMT and oil treatments? If so, how often? I'm still sort of a newbie (not really, but I'm still learning and experimenting). :o

I put coconut oil in my SMT instead of aloe (so it's not really an SMT is it <g> but that's still how I think of it.) Conditioner, coconut oil, and honey. My hair loves it.

Check this (http://forums.longhaircommunity.com/showthread.php?p=66716#post66716) out for inspiration. I have an oily scalp and don't need much moisture, but even I will dab a little oil on my braid tassel, even when I'm planning to SMT the next day.
