I no longer S&D because my neck gets sore after a while and I get buggy eyes. But I am wondering what those breaks in the hair are called. They are little bends/breaks/folds/dots and when a hair strand beneath it is pulled-- the hair breaks off.

Um, I need a magnifier to observe more closely what they look like!

I don't know why, but that Wiki entry really made me laugh. Not that it's a funny subject, those white dots are my enemy. I'm glad I don't get them near the scalp though, like the article suggested.

Hair embryo's future grown up splits!

Need to use a good protection, no way can we afford to let them breed!

Nightshade wrote a great article (http://forums.longhaircommunity.com/vbjournal.php?do=article&articleid=79) on damaged hair which includes trichorrhexis nodosa:)
