View Full Version : The power of the LHC

I just wanted to testify to the power of the LHC and all the lovely, helpful, gentle people here.

After lurking on and off for a couple of years I joined just over three months ago, and although nothing has changed about my general routine (wash 7-10 days, jojoba oil, silk pillowcase, s & d) it has made a real difference to the condition of my hair. I think it just focused my attitude to my hair and now for the first time in twelve years I think my hair is actually going to get passed BSL! And it's definately looking better than it has in years (I wish I'd taken photos).

Also on a non hair note, I think this place actually makes me happier than any other message board site I've been on. Such a huge mix of people, and 99.9% of the time people really listen to each other and engage. Yay! the internet actually fulfilling its potential.

What a lovely post, Anlbe, and I am so happy for you that you have found that the knowledge you have gained from this community has helped you with the overall health of your hair. I could not agree more with you about the LHC, this is a fabulous group of people, and you can count on lots of support, and I have made some wonderful friends here!

I am resisting the hair toys, I am resisting the hair toys, I am resisting the hair toys, I am resisting the hair toys, I am resisting the hair toys, I am resisting the hair toys, I am resisting the hair toys, I am resisting the hair toys, I am resisting the hair toys, I am resisting the hair toys, I am resisting the hair toys, I am resisting the hair toys, I am resisting the hair toys, I am resisting the hair toys!

If I say it often enough it might actually become true!

You will learn tons and meet tons of fantastic people here. If you decided to stay around long enough to attend a meet (in your area); I would encourage you to go. I went to one recently, and had a blast! :D

Oh, yes, watch out for the evil enablers...I'm not a name dropper, but "she knows who she is".

Hear, hear! Too often message boards end up in petty sniping, and arguing on the Internet (by arguing I mean misinformed rudeness, not intellectual discussion, which is great) is rather pointless, isn't it? The Long Hair Community is just that, a community, full of support and crazy people who talk about hair =P

I know just how you feel, Anlbe. It's not only the incredible resource for hair care and styling. I'm pretty sure I might have cut, had I not come upon this site. I had hair just about BSL, but never realized all the ways it could be styled. And each new length seems to bring new styling possibilities.

There are people here I care about deeply, and it has certainly enriched my life to be a member of such a supportive community.

I've also been really impressed by the diversity of views (on hair- and non-hair-related topics ;)) and the openness of discussion. Is it partly because there's something universally appealling about having long beautiful hair, that it brings people together in such a friendly fashion?

I've been lurking as well, and quite enjoyed my time browsing here! I haven't actually noticed my hair getting any longer, but it feels better, and I have been enabled to some beautiful hairsticks & given new goals to aim for ...

And I love the idea of meets! Getting to look at all that beautiful hair in person - :)

I was kind of nervous about them (hair meet--at first), because you just don't know...But we met in a very public place; and within a few minutes we were laughing and hugging and sharing our toys and hair stories...It was a really good time.

I joined the same day I found LHC, that was in OCT 07, so I had time to establish some online friendships w/some of the ones I finally got to meet in person...We had a ball! Everyone was kind and really excited to be there.

I hope you all find advice, tips and friendships...OH, and many happy hair days ahead :D
