hair styles for shoulder length?

Are there any styles for shoulder hair? (some parts are bigger) I would love to try them...or even invent them...but i dont know the tools and all im used to do is a ponytale :o well, do you have any recomendations? I am really bored about it...so...eheh

All I ever did was put my hair in a ponytail when it was shoulder length. I think I did rag curls once or twice.

I can do a sort of French twist and put a clip on it (a fakkare thingie). I could probably do a "sure nuff" French twist if I really knew how to do one. I've also put my hair up in a sort of cinnamon bun and secured it with a pretty clip. I did try a hairstick bun not long ago, but the sticks kept falling out. Oh, and I've also done some pretty nice half-ups with pretty clips.

I used to twist it back and up, and secure it with a claw clip, so that there was a spray of hair sticking out of the top of the clip. When it got longer there were kind-of cascading curls, rather than splayed ends.

Another option is a half-up, either secured with a claw clip or a half-ponytail. If your hair is long enough, you can twist a lock originating from above each ear, and secure them as they meet in the back. Another variation of this is that pompadour thing that seems to be popular nowadays.

You can pull off pigtails, if they don't make you feel too little-kiddish, and maybe english-braided pigtails. I also have a friend who could make lovely french-braided pigtails when her hair was shoulder-length--the hard part though is making these even.

You're probably ready for sock-buns too but I've never had any luck with doing those myself, so I can't really explain it.

There really are a lot of things that you can do with shoulder-length hair. I hope you have fun playing with it and I hope this helps!

Some i have already done others not...i have a problem with buns i really dont see it much around here and i never tried them...is there any thread that have a lot of them? or a website? Maybe i could do it with some acessories ;) I dont mind experimental hair styles eheh

Those are pretty styles, brok3nwings! I second the idea of a French Twist. You're at the perfect length for that. A Gibson Tuck is also a style that I loved at that length. You can also start doing French braiding.

That's often my problem with hairstyles. Your hair does look absolutely lovely up like that though, did you use pins to keep it up?

I second the suggestion for French twists. How thick is your hair and how short are the shortest layers? I couldn't do a French twist until I was almost APL because the layers wouldn't stay in, which bothered me.

You expressed concerns about buns, and I find that buns held with pretty hairsticks or a fakkare look really nice and less formal than with bobby pins, if that was what you were concerned about (sorry, I didn't quite understand you xP). There were articles up on the old LHC about hairstick cinnabuns, but unfortunately I don't know if it's possible to access that info atm.

French braids would work, too, and I found diagonal French braids were easier than a single ordinary one because of my layers, fringe, and the fact that I part my hair to the side.

Peacock twists work, too (like a French twist but without the ends tucked in), as do Gibson tucks.

I'll see if i can describe this hairstyle, which i came up with eons ago when my hair was longer (growing it out now, aaaaah just at shoulder, and can barely manage this, but it does work!)

Gather your hair like you are going to clip back only the top part, over the ears like, and use an ouchless and hair friendly pony holder. Secure the pony holder about an inch and a half to two inches from head. From underneath, between pony holder and head, poke two fingers up from underneath through the hair, grasp pony, and pull through. It will give this lovely neat twisted pony. From there beneath it, you can gather all your hair in another pony at the base of neck, and flip that the same way. Its very "equestrian" looking

I had chemotherapy for breast cancer, and it all fell out. ALL of my hair. EVERYWHERE. I think I had maybe a few eyelashes that stayed put and one or two eyebrow hairs, but the rest fell out.
