From reading about vitamin D, it is recommended for hair loss. So that makes me wonder if it promotes healthy fast hair growth. I've recently started taking it myself, and I think my hair might have grown a bit faster, but am not sure.
Anyone else take vitamin D?

Vit D is more for bones and its free from the sun! but I do not know its properties in hair growing.

There are quite a few references I found on Google for it to be used in cases of hair loss. I'm just drawing an extra conclusion from it, I guess!

I had my hormones tested 6 weeks ago and my Thyroid and Testosterone were low. My doc prescribed meds for those issues as well as a high dose of Vitamin D3.
From Wiki:
It is structurally similar to steroids (http://forums.longhaircommunity.com/wiki/Steroid) such as testosterone (http://forums.longhaircommunity.com/wiki/Testosterone), cholesterol (http://forums.longhaircommunity.com/wiki/Cholesterol), and cortisol (http://forums.longhaircommunity.com/wiki/Cortisol) (though vitamin D3 itself is a secosteroid (http://forums.longhaircommunity.com/wiki/Secosteroid)).

So yes, I think it works in concert with the hormones in your system to keep everything in working order which is required for your body to use energy growing hair.

I've been starting to take a higher dose of D3, given all the chatter about raising the recommendation and the fact that I'm now getting to the part of the year where I can get no D from the sun. Haven't noticed any super-fast growth, but I can't say I was expecting it either.

Never heard anything about hair growth...but I have to take it along with my osteo meds. I might or might not complain if it does turn out to cause faster growth (depending on how much I have to trim off to keep my hemline thick.....)
