Hello:)
for the last year I was trying to take better care of my hair that was demeged by dyes. When I can say that my hair improved I still struggle with scalp isssues.
Its overproducing oil and its itchy sometimes. I was trying to use nourishing and soothing shmapoos...thought it woudl mouisture the sclap and make it produce less oil, I tried to use shampoos like bumble and bumble see weed wchich my hair loves:crush: but still on next day after washing my hair looks very very oily so I would have to was it everyday (But I know it can overdry my hair)
Today doctor show my scalp under this kind of special machine that shows your hair and scalp in big close up and I saw
how oil my clap is.........much worse then I thought , she said that it can lead to hair shedding becuse hair bulb dont get enought oxygen.
But If you woudl see me in eprson you woudl say that my hair was clean and fresh becuase it was few hours after washing. I dont get it, and I dont know what to do:sad
How to deal with long dry hair and oily scalp:confused: Pleas help

Can you use a dry shampoo on the day after washing to stretch out your washes? That way your scalp would be "clean" with the dry shampoo, but you can rub it into your scalp and leave the hair length alone.

I am sorry for your troubles. My scalp seemed to get oily when I used shampoo containing SLS Sodium Laurel Sulfate. So choosing a very gentle cleanser is a great idea.
Have you thought about trying shampoo bars? Many folks have success with them. There is a very good article about them in the articles section.
My grandmother used cornmeal from the grocery store when she did not want to wash her hair. The corn meal picked up the oil and she brushed her hair afterwords.
I also read about Ojon and their new dry cleanser. I am going to get it for Christmas. I have been impressed with Ojon's other products and hope to like this one.

I am using a macbook computer and do not know how to post active links yet. Sorry:)

Your hair is only 19 inches long! Relax, washing daily isn't going to kill it if you do it as needed, for quite a while! Maybe if you had knee length hair, or your goal of waist. 19 inches is shoulder length to APL or so depending on how you measure.(brushing shoulders LHC, APL ish if you measure from the back of your head) Washing daily is not the worst thing you can do, if you use a wide toothed comb, don't blowdry and such. Esp if your goal is only waist. Seriously, daily flat ironing kills hair worse than daily shampooing with a clarifying shampoo without conditioner! XD
What I would suggest, are shampoo bars and an ACV/WV rinse after. Or, a gentle shampoo that you use daily. By using a gentle shampoo, you're able to get the oil off, without stripping the rest of your hair.
At the very least, you can consider scalp washing. That's where you only wash your scalp and barely wash the length. A too rich shampoo may just aid oil on top of oil. A gentle cleanser is different in that it removes less oil, but does not add more.
Use a rich conditioner for the dry length, and only apply it up to your ears, if your scalp is oily. Use conditioner on your scalp if your scalp is dry. Even then, oil and straight up lotion are a better idea.

Could you apply conditioner to the ends to protect them and then wash the scalp with Shampoo? This is called CWC. Then you condition again as usual.

What the last poster said and hair is never to short (which 19" isnt) to start a good regime for hair.

I'd say go with a shampoo bar, since they're easier to keep on the scalp and not dry out the rest of your hair. You could probably combine that with putting conditioner on the length, though I'm not sure how doable that is with hair your length. Good luck! That must be incredibly frustrating.

I would try an ACV rinse. Vinegar acts as an astringent and it may help your oily scalp.:)

I'd recommend CO-washes, where you wash your hair with conditioner. You can find more info about them from this site. They have helped me with my greasy hair. I used to wash my hair every day with a clarifying shampoo, which caused my scalp to produce even more oil. Now I do a CO-wash every other day and use normal shampoo once a week.

I don't have an oily scalp, but do experience itching. I use a sulphate free unscented shampoo and add either of the following oils: rosemary, tea tree, or oregano. You could try this regime. Pre oiling will protect your precious length and ends while you're having a war with an oily itchy scalp!

:)Thank you all for recomendation and advices:)
I must admit that I freeak out when I hear that greasy scalp can lead to hair shedding.
My hair is now a little longer its 21 inches.
I oil my end with olive oil before I wash.
I used to wash it every other day and use a dry shampoo but now I was it every day and I already can tell that my scalp is happy but my end are getting more and more dry.:(
I treid already ACV rinse and this was really good, it took the ichiness away and hair was fresh a little bit longer just after the first rinse so I will continue to use it. :D
I never tired a shampoo bars but I will definetly give it a try after I use my shampoo. I am couriosu if this would work for me..
