View Full Version : My first home made hair toys...

These are my first few homemade hair sticks and a fork. Made with stuff I already had around the house. Hubby let me use a couple chunks of his wood to play with and these are what I made.
1. The ladybug stick was made from a wooden spoon I had laying around the kitchen and an old ink pen that had a fuzzy top and spring with a ladybug on it. I just yanked off the lady bug and glued it to my sanded down and spray painted wooden spoon.
2. Just used a coping saw to cut out the shape of a similar fork I had seen online and went to town with the sand paper. This thing goes in my hair like butta and holds like the rock of gibralter.
3. Saw a stick online and drew as close a copy as I could. It's not near as pretty as the one online but I made two and they hold like a dream :)

Those are fabulous toys, Yayasmurf, well done!! :D
The sticks remind me a little of Baerreis Fandaingoes. Very nice shape you've given them!

I love that little ladybug! It's wonderful and I get it looks great in your hair! :D

I love making sticks out of old pen peices, that is how I made my common dolphin "Laughter Ring (http://i239.photobucket.com/albums/ff176/Little_Orca/Long%20Hair%20Gallery/Hair%20Toys/IMG_7171.jpg)" stick and "Hunting Orca (http://i239.photobucket.com/albums/ff176/Little_Orca/Long%20Hair%20Gallery/Hair%20Toys/IMG_7183.jpg)" sticks.

Thanks everyone for the encouraging comments. I wish I could take better pics but here's those action shots. I didn't put anything on my hair to smooth it, just threw them in and took some pics... so you get to see all my fly away silver too.

Beautiful work - and they look great in your super hair! I've got a woodworking family, but with my physical circumstances, I really can't be working with equipment other than light sanding. The Dremel comes in handy.
