Tailbone | Classic

So out of sheer curiosity, I sat on my bathroom floor (it's tiled, and I can shut the door so I don't get a dog in my lap :laugh:) and tried to see where my hair reached to get an idea of how close to TBL I was. Turns out I'm there already! This is like hitting APL all over again :rollin: I was past that milestone and still in denial about it being there for like a full month I think? It's not quite that far this time, but nearly. I didn't take my yearly October picture (this year has been So Much, I only have January's), and frankly I haven't been thinking too much about its growth the last couple years I mean months. It's only been... months, right? It feels like a whole year since I've been here last...

My ends are more fragile now, and I'm not used to that at all. I need to use a lot more care than I have been (I haven't been using much care at all, if I'm honest, but more care than pre-LHC), and I haven't quite gotten that habit just yet.

Mine are mid thigh ish too you aren't alone! Mid thigh sounds longer than fingertip so I call it mid thigh but will use finger tip as a mid thigh guide, buuut this will be many moons away

Yep, still growing out the bleach; I'm at 1 year and 8.5 months. Other than that, very busy at uni. :) I read somewhere that you're not finding much free time, either. Anyway, I, like some others, still hope we get to hear from you every once in a while!

Hello! Long time no post. I think the last time I was on here was June? And in this thread probably March. This year has been hectic and my friend is now married as of 2 days ago so I'm now able to relax haha. The wedding went smoothly, I cried multiple times and did so during my speech which was embarassing. Anyway I had to jump on because it looks like I've gone past classic length now. I let down my hair for the first time in a very long time (probably since June) and freaked out when I felt something brush against the back of my thighs. Realised it was my own hair!!! I'm not a picture taker but I might have to take one for this. I've basically smashed my hair goal for the year. I went from solidly TBL in January to who knows what in a month's time. Guess I haven't lost my speed yet!

Also congratulations to everyone else who has reached their goal during the year! I'm not sure what to even do with myself now. Trim or start gunning towards the next one? Is there a thread for FTL/Mid-thigh length? My coworkers want me to try for knee length but it's such a big difference between classic and knee that I need something to aim for in between so I don't get frustrated. It’s hip length now! Took a year from BSL to hip. It’ll be another long while until tailbone and classic!! I keep wondering if classic would be too long for me but I’m still curious

Wow! That is awesome. :) You can't but find out what your "best" length is, and BSL to hip in a year is like so wondrous. Wish my hair grew that fast! It had a tiny growth spurt this year, for some odd reason LOL, but that is amazing. I'm sure you'll be classic in no-time at all! Happy growing! :D :cheer:

Not the best shot since my curls are just air dried and not enhanced on any way, but oh well :) I will maintain for a good while at this length or close to it, so I can finally get rid of those evil layers :D

Sometimes I think it's best not to have a length goal anyway, you can just let it do it's thing without obsessively checking to see if the next milestone has been reached ( like myself)

Nah, I've grown my hair out twice now and I don't think I could handle it, in reality at least at this point in time. If I get to hip and decide I can go longer, I'll decide then. It is beautiful though.

Welp, I cut off ~2 inches and now I'm back to tailbone length wet, and less than that dry. My ends feel great, though.

My only regret is that I'm now slightly short of the needed head-circumference-length.

Because, of some setbacks. :( But now, my hair is growing back to almost waist length again! :D So, like the saying goes, "You'll never know how long your hair will actually grow unless your try, right?" My long-term goal is either mid thigh length or ankle length. Or, that's why I put on my profile, "Terminal Length," and who knows? My terminal length my just be ankle length?!

My natural is dark brown but I lightened it to honey brown and then dyed it 3 times with 3 different brands trying to get this color XD. The one that worked was overtone!

Classic seems so difficult to figure out exactly! BCL and TBL were easy to measure by stretching the hair and placing the ends in the appropriate spot, but it doesn't seem to work that way with classic length, so I'm suspicious! :) But we'll see in about a month's time.

Well, I was three inches from classic trying t decide if I really wanted to grow any longer. Sat every one in my house hold asked for hair cuts. I trimmed both my grown daughters abut 2-3 inches and gave DH his regular. but all that cutting made me think how tired I have gotten going around and around the base of my buns. Well this am I am now back at tailbone, which I think is my sweet spot. I cut 4 inches.
P.S. I did hit classic in 2019.

I'm at the longest I've ever been right now - normally I maintain indefinitely at TBL but I've let it creep down a bit over this pandemic era. I'm now at solid 96.5cm (38") and thinking I may just let it get to the metre just so I claim a metre, why not...

I believe I'd still be just shy of classic at that length but I'll see if I get there. Who knows, maybe I'll let it creep to classic - at one point I was flirting with going that long but I do think that's past my comfort zone.

I shared this in the seasonal growth thread last night but the truth is that this is the better home for it: I got some exercise shorts delivered yesterday for one of my exercise classes and realised that they are a good way of judging classic length for me: https://i.imgur.com/3mR6Guv.jpg
Technically I could probably call it, but I am still 3cm away from the number I measure with and would prefer to have more of my length there before calling it. I’m thinking that by the time we reach the equinox I should be happy to call it and I am even considering having my annual trim on the solstice. Then I shall grow on until mid-thigh length. Technically I could probably call it, but I am still 3cm away from the number I measure with and would prefer to have more of my length there before calling it. I’m thinking that by the time we reach the equinox I should be happy to call it and I am even considering having my annual trim on the solstice. Then I shall grow on until mid-thigh length. I take pictures with my tablet: prop it up on some books facing a long mirror, put it on timer and then get into the right kind of spot for the picture to be taken. Sometimes it takes a few goes to get it right…

I realize I belong in this thread now. I think classic will be my end goal and no guarantees I will keep it that long. I just want to try it once. Also, I think I may be able to do the "backpack braids" I mentioned in the "At what length..." thread with classic hair. So that is incentive.

So far, my hair and ends are better at TB than ever at anything past APL before I knew what my hair does and doesn't like. If I can keep this up it will be awesome. I suspect it will take two years to get to classic considering I may trim. I could possibly do it in one if I didn't trim, so we'll see.

Well, that's the thing when it's wet hair does does stretch a little. It can be confusing even if you've trimmed recently. I can see if your signature photo that you're definitely at tailbone length or mid-butt lol.

Hi everyone! I haven't been here for a very long time, but in that time I blew past the Hip length, and now already past the Tail bone length, reached Classic and in May cut back to TLB. Now I'm not too far from Classic again, but I am cutting it again next week probably to TLB. I have stopped measuring it and checking the length. I had to stand up now to check where it is at the moment, because I feel like after it reached my bum area, it's like it's been "the same" to me, although it's very long for normal people who call BSL long. At the moment I'm thinking of switching my straight across cut to more of a V shape, so it's more flowy. I'll try to post some picture before it's cut. Writing in this thread now is surreal, as I thought being in it was so far away when I last visited, and I thought of "all the LH warriors who have conquered this length". And I didn't even realise how it happened, but seeing my last pics here, what I thought was "long" on me back then, looks different now.
I hope everyone is keeping safe and healthy through these times!
