Haha the disadvantage to sunshine!

Seriously, though, I did find a ton of splits a few weeks ago and decided to be more dedicated about wearing my hair up. I think between tailbone and classic must be a critical zone for damage. Lots of friction-- if I have mine down, it's rubbing on everything. Even in braids, the ends are seeing damage. For me, I think I really need to wear it up all the time, especially since I don't trim.
(She says as she sits on the couch with her hair down. Doh!)

The truth in the sun is the worst! I only wear my hair down on wash day and in a braid for sleeping. I might have to manage some type of sleeping bun that will actually stay all night.

There you go! I quite like the U-shape, i think it suits me much better than a straight-across cut. Hair straighter than usual, from being put in a bun. Ignore the claw hand please.

Does anyone have tips for taking pictures of black hair? I feel like my hair has gotten darker these few months (is it the weather?), it just sucks ALL the light

I WANna see!! :D

:thud: Its glorious so beautiful, girl your hair looks way better than mine by a mile lol.

What I use is just flash from the camera, I can't use cell phones for a picture no way its too dark and all you can see is a mass of hair. I like using those canon cameras.

Beautiful pictures beeboo and amaryllis red!

I haven't been very active on the boards much this year but my hair has still been growing - I can now call classic when wet! My three monthly photos will be at the beginning of April (although I'm on holiday from the 1st to 11th so I might do it 30th March). Can't wait to see how it looks - now is my countdown to my big trim!

I am struggling with my ends but I want to persevere - my mum has agreed to cut my hair in August/September back to classic, so I'll finally have a blunt hemline (I hope) after not trimming for two years. Actually two and a half years by then.

Next month will be two years since dye last touched my hair too and its at basically-shoulder.. Except for like two slowpoke strands.

I'll definitely post a pic in a few weeks! :D

Wow, just caught up with the last few pages. Beeboo, Amaryllis, moonrabbit, and Autobots, your hair is all so beautiful!

The past 6 months or so I've been almost completely ignoring my hair, measured it a couple times, one SMT, but not much time for anything else. Took the time to measure and take a picture Thursday, about 1/4" until it is at classic length...

(And I can't remember how to post a picture or the website I used before; it's the newest one in my Growth album though.)

I think I'm nearing classic stretched, but I'm planning on trimming about 1" or so next week, if I can handle taking off that much lol. This winter has been harsh on my ends. Even this close to classic, I still don't know whether classic measures 40" or 41" on me. I'm about 39" right now, before trim. Maybe once I reach 40" I'll take a photo so people can say their input? That's a few months off anyway.

Hello, just wanted to check in as I've reached tailbone length. I can't posts pictures yet, or see yours, but all the tips i've read on LHC have been very helpful. I don't have any actual goal, just growing to see how long it will get. Since I reached lower back length I've been able to do a tieless nautilus bun, so I've been wearing it loose much more often, since I dont need a tie to put it up quickly when I need to. I worry it might slow my growth but I find my hair much more enjoyable this way.

Welcome, JulyFun! I also don't have any particular goal anymore and just want to see how long it'll go.

On the other hand, after fulfilling my curiosity, I will probably stick at tailbone or thereabouts. It seems to be my happy place of long, but not so long I can't wear it down without tons of damage.

I do like wearing my hair down around the house and haven't quite developed the habit of making sure I don't crush my ends when I sit on the couch or put my laptop on my lap... I can't sit, sweep my hair to the front, and then settle back. I need to sweep my hair to the front or side *before* sitting.

My ends show it, too. I was just shy of classic and trimmed back so now I'm back to just a bit below tailbone because those ends were getting too broken. It was also time - I need semi frequent trims to keep my ends from breaking off even at less dangerous lengths. I think the damage to my ends goes up several more inches still, but I wasn't willing to cut much more than I did at this time.

It's about time I join this thread. I'm tb when wet and a solid hip+ when dry. I trimmed a couple inches off in December I think. But I've definitely grown those back now. My hemline is much nicer than it was before. It's still blunt. Just not suuuuper blunt.

I have about 6 inches til classic (wet) but I'm not sure how long it'll need to be before it looks classic dry.

I tend to keep my hair to one side infront of me so I don't genrally sit on it, but my spouse frequently doesn't look before sitting on the couch with me... ouch

I think I've said this elsewhere on here but I'm still undecided on what I will do once It reaches terminal length. There is a Shave-O-Thon once a year here to raise money for cancer researc, so I might do that. But I don't think I can give my hair for wig making since I henna. Or I might maintain just above tail bone (where I can do a tieless Nautilus bun). I might also grow out my bangs.

Congratulations.

Hello!

I’ve just called Tailbone, so moving on (or should it be up, or down? :happydance: ) to this thread!

I’m finding if I wear my hair in anything but a bun I’m staring to get a lot more comments about length, and as its growing my normal gotos that aren’t a nautilus or lwb are becoming more of a challenge. I don’t have enough length yet to manage a crown braid with a single English braid, and getting the ends tucked in with pigtails is getting harder. Braided buns however are getting more use!

https://i.imgur.com/kCdYoZJ.jpg

https://photos.app.goo.gl/LAuMa2Pavz8RAe2F7

because I’m pretty small I’m hitting milestones with less overall length than a lot of you, measuring today was 94cm. Only 10cm to go till classic, so hoping I might hit that goal by the end of the year if I have a little summer growth spurt!

I maintained at tailbone for 6 months and I feel like I only had that fresh ends feeling the day I trimmed. It was too much work for very low satisfaction. Hopefully this plan will be better, though on the other hand, I haven't cut a big amount in a long time and losing that much length may be hard to let go of...but I will cross that bridge when I get there.

hayheadsbird
May 12th, 2019, 11:39 PM
That's my worry too. 6 months past classic would be close to fingertips for me, so the temptation to cut or retain that length is going to be a conflict.

Just checking in here. About 1 and a half inches to go but it is so thin and I need the length to make up for the thinness in my buns. I have seen some videos of women with very thin ends of about a foot. It makes me rethink trimming.

Make sure you are all really sure before cutting I did a cut of 2 inches and although my ends are in better shape I miss my length. And with curly hair it springs up even more. But if you decide you have the confidence go for it I won't be cutting for a little while now. I'm gonna teach the DH.

Yeah, if your ends are looking thin, and you want to thicken up the hemline I would go for a small trim too.

AmaryllisRed

Yep, for sure. My buns have sucked ever since I got rid of my fairytale ends - and I still don't have super thick ends, but I just can't do secure buns at the moment.

FennFire911
May 17th, 2019, 07:22 PM
Wow, great minds are really thinking alike in this thread! My ends are super faerie tale, but I know trimming isn't going to actually make me feel better at this point. For the past couple of weeks it's been rattling around in my head to finish up this year's two goals, no cutting and classic by Christmas, and then maintain at classic at least for a little while and slowly trim out the old damaged bits. It's going to be a long road, but I can see in my pics where my thickness is definitely traveling down and that's very reassuring.
Happy growing, y'all! :D

Length isn't important to me if I have damaged ends. It seems useless to hold onto something I can't save and will only cause more trouble and damage later on.

This is 11 months of growth, I trimmed about 1.5 inches. I'm hoping to reach classic by the end of next year, I think it's possible but the ends have been breaking and splitting a lot lately and slowing down the growth a lot. Not sure what to do about it.

I'm at stretched tbl right now. I'm cheating a bit, the left side of my hair is much shorter but I'm not going to fix it yet, I'll wait until the right side reaches classic. :D

Panthera, your hair looks absolutely gorgeous!

Are you sure the left side is shorter, often it is "fixed" by fluffing the hair up a bit and taking another picture. Sometimes the hair just "shifts" to one side and it looks like it is uneven. I get that a lot as I have to take "just the right picture" each time we take one. It moves in all sorts of directions, you wouldn't believe how it often looks (very uneven in any case LOL).

It is but it doesn't bother me that much and if I wear my hair up, no one's going to see it anyway. :D I'll be maintaining my hair at classic until I get most of the damage out so I might as well trim the ends into a V or U shape. It's funny how I'm already planning what I'm going to do after classic but I need to have a solid plan, otherwise I'm going to suffer from lhc-itis and have the damaged ends forever.

bparnell75
May 20th, 2019, 10:50 AM
I wouldn't trim. Nothing wrong with thin ends, especially when you wear it up anyway. :)

That is what I have been thinking. Maybe I will just see how log I can handle it.

bparnell75
May 20th, 2019, 10:52 AM
Yep, for sure. My buns have sucked ever since I got rid of my fairytale ends - and I still don't have super thick ends, but I just can't do secure buns at the moment.

I have worried about that...trying to tuck in thicker blunt ends.

I agree with lapushka. Your hair is gorgeous! Sometimes on one side it does appear uneven but it's not. BTW, I think we're hair twins! My hair type is curly just like yours naturally but I do get relaxed two or three times a year. What is your hair type?

Thank you. :) That's a good question, I don't know really. Anything between 2A to 3A depending how moisturized it is and how you want to type it. Thick, coarse and very dry, low porosity, my waves are actually very loose stretched out spiral curls, my hair is too heavy to hold the curl pattern very well. I posted some pictures in the Show us your texture thread, I'm not going to post them again.

You're welcome. :) Ok, cool. Mine is 2C to 3A also depending on how moisturized it is and how I want to type it too. Mine is also thick and dry. I'm not too sure about it being course. How do you know you have low or high porosity? My waves are also very loose stretched out spiral curls too. I bet your hair is too heavy to hold the curl pattern very well. Ok, I will check your photos out in that thread. No, you don't have to post them again as I know you don't want to. I also have photos on my profile page as well if you want to see my hair and it's type.

My hair just hates water. It's really hard to wet it, it feels like it's partly dry no matter how long I'm in the shower. Hard to keep it moisturized too, conditioners and oils tend to just sit on top of the hair and won't absorb. It's also protein sensitive. My hair feels dry and brittle with too much protein. Coconut oil actually dries my hair, another low porosity thing.. But weirdly enough, coconut oil based shampoo works amazingly well. I haven't used it for long so I don't know what the long term effects are, it could be drying.
I have never tested my hair and for a long time I thought it's high porosity but it just doesn't feel like it. If I drop water on the top of my hair, my hair doesn't absorb it at all and if I move my head even the slightest bit, the drops will fall out. If I do the same thing with my bleached, damaged and most likely high porosity hair, the water stays there. I shook my hair quite hard and the water wasn't falling anywhere. Not a very scientific method to test your hair but a good example how low porosity repels water and high absorbs it. (I hope it's ok going off topic. :D)

Awwww, that's a shame that your hates water. My hair loves water and anything that comes with moisture. No, it's okay to get off topic a bit. :D) But now I understand how you tell the difference between low porosity and high porosity hair.

Finally measured my hair for the first time in a loooong time, it looks about 37". So 40" is mid butt and 43" or so is classic? I'm pleasantly surprised. Being short has perks lol

*Okay I keep measuring classic as 41", I'm not pulling the tape. Is my butt just small too?? I'm confused. I'm measuring from the very bottom of my tailbone.

I suppose I'll need another couple inches for classic dry anyway.

MoonRabbit, if you are already past classic wet I would totally call it classic on you. Congrats!:agree:

I'm undecided on when I should call classic on myself. Wet or dry? A good couple inches difference. Not sure how the weight will effect it. I've been thinking about fingertip lately... only 4" past classic for me. I hope my braid would look like proper classic length by then. Also I'm living in braids atm

I have to bow out of this thread for a while; just had my husband chop off over 7". Unfortunately dealing with some health issues right now (low iron, magnesium, etc) and my hair had not grown in months. As I don't have the energy to put much care into it the ends were dry and tangling. So I'm now a little past hip and hope to rejoin you all in here sometime in the next few months!

Thanks so much! My hem doesn't look that bad in photos but up close it is a split fest and loves to cause tangles. My main concern now is getting all virgin hair so I will have to trim a total of 8 inches over time. Can't wait for some fresh cut ends for Christmas!

Thanks! My next goal is to trim all of my previous damage out. Still have about 8 inches worth if I did the math correctly. 3 inches will be sacrificed at the end of this year. Then after I have all virgin hair, I will be hitting each milestone until I find my terminal length.

I wonder what's the story behind that one?

This is very off topic, I hope I can be forgiven for this. :)

On the 4th of July 2014, I was trying to recover from my usual crappy sleep pattern and napped on my sofa in order to encourage myself to sleep worse than I would in my bed and thus have an easier time getting up with little rest. I had a lot of very strange dreams, including a sleep paralysis kind of experience, as well as a dream of me venturing into an abandoned tower or lighthouse kind of place with my dogs (I had three back then). There was a pool table there with a huge snake on it. Normally, snakes never appear in my dreams.

Later that same day, I had a walk in the forest with my mom and my three dogs. On the way back, I was bitten by a common European adder in the back of my left foot, just below the ankle (yes, I wore improper shoes!). It's a pretty rare occurrence considering there's just one venomous snake up here and it made the people around me who knew about it go a bit like whoa, especially when they saw my swollen leg and the mighty bruise I was left with, starting from my foot reaching all the way to my knee in various degrees of bruise-ness. I was bedbound for a week and had to drag myself to the toilet with my ass on the ground for a good three days or so because I had to keep my leg level - guiding blood flow specifically into my leg was excruciatingly painful. That kind of pain I had never felt, it seemed to reach the very marrow of my bone.

All in all, it was a very memorable and significant experience for me - not least because during that time I also started to become close with my now-partner of soon 4 years. He felt bad for me being bedbound and worried about me feeling bored, which I didn't in the slightest, so he wanted to watch movies and series with me over Skype. :)

It was also extremely lucky that out of all five of us that partook on that walk, I was the one to get bitten. Even though my dogs are large, they could have gotten serious consequences from that, especially since the snake seemed to put quite a bit of venom into me, and my mom was already in her 60s so her prognosis would have also been way worse than mine.

Ouch! Did you visit the hospital? We have that adder in Denmark too. Luckily fatalities are very rare but it's not unusual to be affected for a long time after the bite.
I used to catch them when I was a child, and once inadvertently caught a baby adder with my hands because I thought it was a lizard. Pretty scary looking at that "lizard" and discovering zig-zag stripes:)

Anyway. I belong to this thread. I passively got tailbone length through not having haircuts, and now I'm inspired to see if I can go to classic. Should just take me 6-12 months. The only thing in my way is being able to handle it while playing soccer - in the last month it's become so long that my braid is wrapping around my arm while playing. An actual problem. I want to try and figure out how to secure a bun so that it will stay with intense sports.

Wow! I bet that was pretty scary! Awesome story! :)

I'm new and so close to reaching 25 posts... I hope that's when post editing priviledges are granted. These typos are killing me.

Hi and welcome to the forum! :) I remember when I first joined here at the LHC back in 2010. I had to make a lot of posts to be able to edit. You are so lucky to be at tailbone length now! I wish that I was at that length now. I'm at 2 inches below waist length. Hopefully by the end of the year I will be at hip length. That is my goal for this year.

The easiest bun I know that holds like a rock is a braided L-finity. Basically you braid your hair, make a two finger “finger gun” or L with your pointer finger and thumb, wrap the braid in a figure-8 around the L (for me I do it twice, but I don’t know what your thickness allows), then wrap the remainder of the hair around the base. Put a hairstick down through the middle of one half of the infinity, under the middle, and up through the other hole.

The most rock-solid hairstyle ever for me is Amish braids, but they take me more time and manipulation to do. Picture Tutorial (https://nyxbyproxy.tumblr.com/post/62321476434/illustrated-amish-braids-tutorial-originally)

Yep, I spent 4-5 hours in the hospital following the bite. Haha, I used to catch lizards too as a kid, and once almost mistook an adder for a piece of a hose at my grandma's.

I have nothing against adders these days. I killed one a couple of summers ago because it came very close to my kennels, so it was purely to protect the dogs, but I have considered just getting some appropriate equipment and moving them further away instead in the future if needed.

Ouch Ylva, that sounds scary! It's great that you were able to see the silver lining out of it anyway :) I would never forget something like it!

Apart from the initial shock right as I realised I had been bitten, it wasn't very scary but sure was an interesting experience! :)

Thanks for the suggestions and tutorial link - I will experiment with these. I was also wondering if I could incorporate string somehow to make it stay, but maybe something like this will work better. The Amish braids look so sturdy.

Amish braids are incredibly sturdy! They never fall out. As far as string, you can look up “hair taping” and will find many helpful tutorials. That’s another solid hairstyle!

Don't you all worry! You might be in stalls, or needing to figure out how to get over a length where it gets more damaged, but you can make it!

I never thought I'd get here, but my hair just brushed classic when soaking wet in the shower today. I'm calling it! It will be a long time until my hair gets there when dry, but wow. I really thought it would take me a lot longer to get here if at all (I keep sitting on my ends on the couch, yikes).

Reading back in the thread, Ylva you are very brave, I am in awe of you.

elise.autumn sometimes all it takes is the right tools, too. Some of my hairtoys like to slip right out, but some others are much more secure. Multiple amish pins are pretty secure on me. Some buns stay better on me when I make them while damp, others are better if made when dry. You may have to play around with it a bit, but most things should be better than a long braid tangling with everything. I would agree with a braided bun so that if it does come down for some reason, at least it won't be all over the place.
A braid made of braids might also be an option. Braiding a bunch of smaller braids together eats up some length and may shorten it enough to not get in your way.

Thanks everyone for the secure styles advice! I actually found a simple way to make a braid manageable for soccer, I just take the bottom 6" and loop it up a few times and secure with a hair tie (I got some fabric ones that hopefully won't damage the ends). It looks a bit stubby, but it succesfully makes my braid many inches shorter, and prevents the ends from getting wrapped around my elbow. I could feel my ends getting pulled and breaking before, and when I tried this on Saturday, it was much, much better.

I'm so thankful I figured this out, because I was literally considering getting my hair cut a month ago (before I became active here). This is a much better option. :D And over time maybe I'll find a bun that works as well.

I think I'm going to be in this thread for a while. I'm having issues with length retention from all that abuse I inflicted on my hair a few years ago. I'm still a bit past TBL, but I think I'm again not gaining any length due to breakage. I won't be measuring again until the equinox. I have to S&D frequently, and find white dots sometimes several inches up from the bottom of the hair, costing me sometimes 2-2.5" off that individual hair.
I guess there's really nothing I can do to prevent the breakage at this point. I'm just going to have to hang in there until the end of this year to finish the no trim challenge and then start doing micro trims next year. Hanging in there with S&D with my fingers crossed that maybe some racers make it to classic by Yule this year.
But even if they do make it that far, micro trimming is going to presumably keep me at less than classic for some time.
At this point, the only thing that's keeping me hanging in there is knowing that the thickness of my virgin hair is traveling down at a very nice rate. It will take a few more years but I will eventually have the length AND the thick hemline that I want.

Welcome to all y'all that are new to this thread. Congrats on your milestone! :D

Congrats on reaching TBL! :) The best thing to do to reach classic/ hip length without putting any scissors to it is hide them from yourself. Hide them to the point that you can't even find them.

Bcl was a hard one for me to deal with. That was the first time my hair felt annoying. Now I am at classic and it is a whole new annoying, sitting on it, I have to brush it differently and my cat has finally noticed my hair at this length so he now thinks that brushing time and braid time is play time! Buns are the saving grace but soon the length will become normal to you.

Yes! I read her thread not too long ago. I commented that it was almost as if I were reading about myself in places. It was a little bit eerie. I must admit though that I didn't properly care for my hair too. I rarely wore it up unless at work or cooking. I rarely conditioned it and not very gentle when detangling so it's amazing that my hair grew as long as it did! I've learned a lot since joining LHC. My hair gets better care now and I can't imagine myself ever going backwards.

I'm going to second AmaryllisRed's advice:

Mine got annoying around hip length.
The best thing to do is put it up and forget about it! :)

I often do a comet bun style which keeps my hair somewhat down but shortened by one or two twists of the bun so that it's not in my way and annoying. Either that, or put it up entirely so it's out of the way. I think my own happy place is around bcl. I still want to grow it longer out of curiosity, but someday I may cut back to there when I want to maintain and not grow any longer. The main things stopping me from cutting back now are a) still wanting to see how long I can get and b) inertia - I don't naturally tend toward cutting or trimming, I only really pull out the scissors because of breakage.

I know i WILL BE FULL BLOWN CLASSIC by my October birthday. I will get pics made and post the,. I plan to microtrim for a while after that for some thickening of the hem line.

Well, it seems I have a case of LHC-ITIS ....and have made the decision to grow to CLASSIC :agree:

Over the past few years I have cut back from TBL a few times because I found my hair was heavy, though each year I noticed that I cut back less each time.....first to MBL... then WL ...then Hip...then have maintained at TBL for the past 6+ months.

I think the difference in weight has been the increase of my fine/wispy silver, so my neck/hand arthritis hasn't been bothered by my hair at all....and I have had flares in other joints!

Just today as I was rearranging my trim schedule to cut less with the intent to try and grow longer, a KNEE length member asked if I had ever thought to grow to Classic?

Well....YES....just TODAY ....and she was the confirmation to my decision

So....wish me luck... no more :scissors: ;)

I believe I'll reach classic wet by christmas. I think the curse of volume is cancelled out by a small bum. It'll be nice to see you here Groovy Granny, you're always the highlight of a thread ;)

I believe I'll reach classic wet by christmas. I think the curse of volume is cancelled out by a small bum. But since I want it to look solidly below butt long when dry I'm aiming toward fingertip length. It's only an extra... 3"? Not much. A solid classic braid? Heck yeah lol So I'm doing the No Trim 2020 challenge!

My goal is classic as well. I’m at tailbone now and for the first time in ages I can say my hair actually feels long. Not even intending on hurrying the process. But by next year at this time, the ends will ALL be at classic and I shall rejoice!

I think but I'm not completely sure if my hair already hit classic. It's about uneven ends that bend and crimp and clump and curl grabbed by the shorter ends. Even though I'll reach classic by the end of the year my hair is still not as heavy as I was afraid it will be. I can still French braid my hair. But Dutch braiding is becoming increasingly difficult to make. I can't decide if it is so because of my clumsy fingers, my hair texture or the layers clumping in the opposite direction; to create that messy effect layers are cut like in the opposite direction of the hair pattern as far as I understood. So now that my hair is becoming heavy, instead of a cute voluminous hair that goes flip-flip in a braid,my hair strands clump resulting in knots and frizz.
How's life with your classic length hair?

Groovy Granny
August 22nd, 2019, 09:48 AM
My Classic journey just started, but as I mentioned earlier....my hair is 95%+ silver and it is fine/wispy now = lighter weight = able to wear longer lengths more comfortably.

But because it IS so wispy, I cannot do sectioned braids without my ends :slap:

No amount of smoothing/sectioning helps, and taking all that time is painful for my arthritic hands and shoulders

So I do English braids starting at the nape(center/side/twin), or a faux french braid (Torrin style).

I'm currently 5 inches away from classic. I'm doing the no length check-challenge because I'm getting too impatient with my slow growth. I think I'll try to learn some new braids and buns to keep things interesting. XL flexi clips are starting to feel a bit uncomfortable but maybe there's a style I could still use them. They're definitely too small for my go to lwb. :hmm:

So I do English braids starting at the nape(center/side/twin), or a faux french braid (Torrin style).

These are my go to styles, especially for work(sometimes oiled). The rest of the time its either down or in my sleep twin braids. I have a couple hair toys but my hair is just to heavy and always sags. Half ups are pretty solid. But braids are just so much less finicky!

I haven't really paid attention to the speed of my hair growth, but assuming it's around average, I think I might be around classic by Christmas, as long as I don't get a full trim. Right now it's somewhere around tailbone and I'd like to reach classic just for the sake of having it be that long since that'll be the longest it's ever been, although once it gets there maybe I'll decide to trim a few inches off so it's less inconvenient.

Currently it's manageable and I mostly wear it up these days, but I think hip or waist length is more amenable for wearing it down and is still definitely long. I'm not really sure what amount of length correlates to outgrowing the hair sticks I have, so although it's always fun to shop for hair toys, it's more economical if I can continue to use the hair toys I already have. If I do cut back to hip or waist once reaching classic, I'll have to contend with a blunt hemline which makes it harder to tuck in the ends neatly and securely for buns.

I thank you for your inspiration and support for the journey :grouphug:

ETA Aug 21: I have always had personal 'landmarks' along my journey ~ moles, scars, rolls ;) and this time will be no different.
I have a birthmark on my butt, and when my hemline reaches it, it will be Classic- stretched...and that will be IT for me :agree:
I also decided to join the "No Length Check Challenge"...but when it hits...I'll know it :eyebrows:

Groovy Granny, I am a big admirer of your hair and think that it will look fabulous at classic length. :flowers:

My hair is currently BSL, though I maintained it at waist most of my life. I think that the longest I've ever had it was hip.

I think that I would like to grow to terminal this time around. I doubt that I'll ever reach knee, but classic sounds "doable." We'll see...

Sorry everybody to just jump in here...but I think this is where I should be
My hair is about BCL (Is that the same as TBL?), I randomly measured it yesturday, at about 38 inches. But it wasn't completely straight, few waves from buns.
I'll probably hit classic this time next year, although I am wanting a few inches off, just to get rid of old ends, but wasn't planning on that for another few months.
Also, the impossible out grow of that darn fringe is taking forever to catch up with the rest of my hair.

Because my torso is very short and shrinking, I don't bother with measurements (except to guesstimate growth time)...and just go by landmarks only (moles, rolls, bones etc ) ;)

I agree that bcl and tbl are the same or close enough that it doesn't matter. On me it's about an inch difference but we're all put together differently. I'll be doing my (recently started) monthly measurement in a few days. Hopefully I've gained some length. I measure differently than most in the LHC group. For me it's just easier to measure from scalp to the tip of a dread. I've got 2 specific dreads that I measure.

I've finally reached tailbone length so am excited to start growing towards classic!

My hair is very fine and tangly, so I'm not sure how I'll go with it as it gets to the longer end of things, but I'm enjoying being able to do more buns (even though wearing buns is like wearing a disguise - my hair compresses into a relatively small bun so that people are shocked at the length if they see it down or in a braid, lol).

Anyway, here is it at tailbone length:

I joined this thread 13 months ago at 36 1/2" tailbone length, and am now a couple inches past classic length at around 42". Working towards fingertip length now. :)

I hope everyone else is doing well on their journey to classic (and beyond).

Everyone is different where TBL lies for them, but for 'me' BCL = TBL :o

ETA: Many call it @ mid butt ...or personal exploration :eyebrows:

Because my torso is very short and shrinking, I don't bother with measurements (except to guesstimate growth time)...and just go by landmarks only (moles, rolls, bones etc ) ;)

So congrats and happy growing; there are quite a few of us looking to reach Classic around the same tie next year :cheer:

Ugh...fringe :p where is yours now; long enough to be contained in styles?

Thank you so much! I love how you use random markers to measure hair length :)
And about the fringe thing - it's more so I'm wanting a straight hemline. My hair is normally in dutch braids, or plaits, out of practically. And I don't notice too many odd ends sticking out.

I am getting so close to classic! (I'm also getting really impatient about it now...)
Just maybe another inch to go. It's possible my very longest hairs are already there, but the majority of them haven't quite reached it yet.

Congratulations on your new milestone! :) Yeah, I know the feeling of getting impatient with it. That can be very annoying when you want your hair at a certain length so bad. I'm getting very impatient with mine as well. Mine has been at 2" below WL for the longest!! I've been ready for a new milestone now.

AmaryllisRed I have no idea about the kids and their hashtags these days, but that sounds correct lol

Now I need to decide if I want to maintain here a while or keep going.

Luna Starsetta I hope your wedding dream comes true!

Hey okiesarah? You said this is the longest it has ever been before now. Has your hair ever been this long before?

I'm impatient too, it's my final milestone and it feels like it takes forever to grow from tbl to classic. But wl+ hair is still much longer than most people have so we should be happy we were able to reach that.:)

Yes, I know whatcha mean about being impatient. Wow, tbl is very long to me. You're right. With WL+ hair that is more than what people have, and we should be happy we were able to reach that. :)

Milady, your hair looks absolutely lovely. That is past TBL all right! I would reckon that's about 4 inches or a good half year to go. Happy growing! :)
