I also did a much needed trim. Trying my best to maintain at tbl but it feels so boring lol. I hope once I take my seasonal growth photo, seeing the results of my hem will motivate me to keep going till the end of the year.

How much did you trim off? I bet you are trying your best to maintain it at tbl and it feels boring lol. I'm so sorry to hear that. Do you ever wear it in many styles? If so, what styles do you wear it in? I'm sure once you take your seasonal growth photo you will definitely see the results of your hem, and it will motivate you to keep going till the end of the year.

I’m nearly there, on days that my ends are less flippy. My hemline looks like poo and is in need of a trim though...

I took off half an inch. I am trimming my monthly growth until the new year so hopefully by then I will rid my ends of splits and all the snagging I have been dealing with. As for styles, I either keep it up in a bun or in some type of braid. Really haven't been doing much with my hair lately.

I've noticed some growth, so i measured last night. I'm at 39 inches. 43 inches is classic for me. Last time I measured, which was a few months ago, I was at 37 inches. I'm excited!

That is fantastic. I love that when you turn away and ignore it, it creeps up on you and then......SURPRISE:magic::hifive:

Ok, well you didn't lose too much length. :) Oh yeah, I also think by the new year you will have gotten rid of your ends or splits and all the snagging you've been dealing with too. Yes, that is the best kind of styles to wear when trying to grow out your hair. I also wear mine that way too. I either wear it in a half-bun at night because I wash it, and let it air-dry during the day, and sometimes I switch up at night and wear 2 braids. I also don't do anything special to my hair either these days. I try to stay away from too much heat tools, and that's it.

I am in the EXACT SAME POSITION right now, also. The racers that measure the longest are definitely reaching classic, but the ends that I "feel" are still about a half inch away... The last few inches of my hair are really thin

That is awesome news. Just 4 inches to go. You might even make it before the year is over!

It's a little bit longer without the braid waves.

This is an extra huge milestone for me, as it was my childhood goal, before I got tired of the tangles and cut it short. So I've finally reached it! :o

Ok, first of all - TatsuOni and Reyn? Absolutely inspirational, congrats on your milestones!

Secondly, I have a question about hair quality at tailbone and beyond. My hair is currently between 38.75 and 39", tailbone/mid-butt length and approximately 3" away from classic. I've noticed that over the last 6 months my hair has been looking worse than it ever has up to this point! I'm finding it frizzier overall and the ends thinner and curlier. I'm curious to hear from others if such changes are normal as hair reaches these lengths or if I need to up my game as far as care/protection goes. A little more background first:

1) While growing, for years I had been going for ~0.5" trims every 3-4 months. This stopped in August of last year after a trim I was very unhappy with. Since then I've had 2, maybe 3 trims of no more than 0.25" each time.
2) My hair care routine generally hasn't changed since I felt it was in "good" condition.
3) My ends are being weird. I let it air-dry while down and am finding that part of the reason my hem looks "bad" is because the ends are flipping/curling in all different directions at the last inch or so thus making it look thinner. Any ideas on why this is happening? It's still about an inch away from touching any seating surfaces when I sit down, so not sure its that.

My questions are: Should I go back to trimming more often? (my gut says yes, but I'm getting oh so close to classic and its hard to trim away progress!) Anyone else have ends that behaved nicely until they got to this length? Is this all somewhat normal at this particular length? The current length is very much uncharted territory for me so I'm not sure what's "normal" and what isn't. My hair IS quite fine and prone to frizz and damage but never quite like this and it seems a big change for only 5-6 months time.

Thanks! (I'm not the most tech savvy but if I can wrangle a comparison pic to show what I'm talking about I'll try to post it)

My hair is also always frizzy or prone to frizz as well. Especially, with the dry humidity I live in. But in the summer it has been a bit hot. So, my hair tends to frizz up a lot, and my hair is at waist length. I haven't trimmed my hair since June of this year, and I only trim off 1cm every 6 months. I usually don't have any issues with my ends but it seems like it this summer I have.

I'm keeping my hair up most of the time, so length really doesn't make much of a difference for me, other than that I need more moisture and oil in the ends.

You're welcome! :flower:

Hey, can you please tell me your routine for growing out your hair that long again? Thanks! :) I forgot..lol

Let's see...

I CO wash after a homemade "deep conditioner". Washing every other week or less.

Keep it bunned during days and braided at night.

Use a wide toothed wooden comb to comb it through in the mornings and evenings. (Detangle with my fingers). Then I follow up with a BBB.

I use homemade flax seed and aloe vera gel in my lengths in between washes and follow up with oil.

Henna and indigo to get it black.

S&D.

Trim twice a year.

That should be the short version. Oh, and I also use ACV rinses to prevent build up since we moved to a place with hard water.

Ok, sounds like you have an excellent routin to do! I also believe in CO-washing too but I can't go too long before I CO-wash or wash my hair these days. The longest I can go is a week but other than that I usually CO-wash or wash my hair every other day. Now, I alternate weeks on my CO-washing. Like, one week three times a week I will CO-wash, and the next week I will use shampoo three out of the week, and whether I'm CO-washing or using shampoo I deep condition my hair twice a week. I follow up with a light protein conditioner, and the second deep conditioning I follow up with a moisturizing conditioner.

I also do S&D twice a year. Because, I very rarely get any split ends. That's because it is always in good condition, and I keep it well-conditioned and moisturized with oils, and that's it!

I’ve grow my hair to tail bone length without ever really experimenting with styles. I’ve just whipped it up in to a bun everyday.
I’d like to do a French/Dutch braid but I just end up with a tangled mess. Is it possible at this length or did I miss the window?

It’s possible. What you need to do is make sure you’re sepatating the strands at the bottom when you’re braiding. Every couple of bumps I hold my braided hair in one hand and sweep my other hand through the length to prevent it from tangling up.

Edit- I also brush my hair before I French or Dutch braid.

I've officially dropped out. Got it cut and I'm enjoying short(er) hair for the moment. It certainly feels short compared to being around tailbone for so long!

Very doable. But I did find it took careful effort separating the sections.

Well, I'm back to tailbone again. I neglected trimming it for too long and also may have had a little trouble getting it even this time. I probably lost about two inches in this "mini chop" as I think I'll call it. I'm all right with that though because as always when I wait too long, the bottom several inches were thinner, crunchier, and full of ssks and splits. I'd rather have a nice hemline if I can do it without too much loss. My hair just damages too easily.

Hi everyone. So much lovely hair in here. I finally got around to getting an updated length shot about two weeks ago (also slowly but surely getting used to taking hair photos that aren’t mirror pics, I’m just so shy and awkward in front of a camera). Excuse the frizz/chaos, it was humid that day and I had not bothered to comb it or anything beforehand.

https://forums.longhaircommunity.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=33425&d=1537731840

I think I have about 3.5 inches to go if my measurements are correct which means that, taking into account trimming, I could likely hit classic length by or before the middle of 2019! I’ve had my eye on classic for years, since way back when I was first going for very long hair, so I’m very much looking forward to it. Everything past the tip-top of tailbone has been uncharted territories for me lol.

My current goal though is being solidly classic by Christmas 2019 at the latest, since as you can tell by this photo my ends, particularly the front of my hair, still need a bit of help, so I might be trimming a bit more. I’m not super concerned with having a very straight hemline (although I think they are amazing, my hair often settles into an oval-ish hemline even when healthy and as I like that shape too I’m not going to fight it) but my mistakes caused quite a bit of damage.

Thanks, I would love if it was naturally this shade, it's all henna :) Naturally it's a medium brown (sometimes light brown in certain lighting), maybe with a slight auburn tint to it, with reddish baby hairs around my face. Also my bathroom's lighting makes it appear like more of that coppery colour (which I really love) whereas in certain other types of lighting it can be more of a cooler, darker red (still a very nice shade, but I especially like the warmth of copper hair).

Also, it's hard to see in this photo, it's far more clear in natural lighting, but at about BSL-MBL I have a demarcation line from when I bleached certain sections of my hair a few years ago (one of the things I regret, but luckily it wasn't all of the hair at least). I covered the bleached sections with henna, so they are very bright red now giving me highlights.

You guys have such awesome hair! :inlove: I'm short so everyone has longer hair than me although we might be at a smiliar body marker. :p
I discovered the LHC in the summer/autumn of 2016 and decided to have my first length shot taken in October of that year. I thought I'd wear the same outfit as I wore in the 2016 length shot and take a picture of my hair now (two years later) to compare while I'm waiting to reach classic. :)

I discovered the LHC in the summer/autumn of 2016 and decided to have my first length shot taken in October of that year. I thought I'd wear the same outfit as I wore in the 2016 length shot and take a picture of my hair now (two years later) to compare while I'm waiting to reach classic. :)

Starry, so beautiful! You look like you're there already!

I measured my hair last night and I might be at classic stretched. I just blind measured it by myself but it's at the measurement I had figured for classic. Maybe I'll try to get a picture to see how off I was.

So I measured my hair at 42". Which is the measurement I'd had for classic. I had husband measure, he said the same thing. SO, like a good LHCer, I whipped out my tripod, brushed my hair, did everything shy of put a book on my head to keep it level, adjusted the aforementioned tripod to closer to butt level, checked that it was straight, smoothed out the hair, took twenty pictures, and...

They all turned out more or less the same, for once. God bless flat-as-heck day 6 hair.

But I would feel like a cheater if I called it. :violin: :wail:

I got out of the shower a while ago and I'm calling a definite TBL when wet today. So I will very carefully start creeping around here... I can't believe I am getting so close to my final goal of classic. Since I'm wet TBL now, it'll take maybe a couple more weeks to be dry TBL, and then there will be no more in-between milestones. Weird.

I love lurking in this thread to take in the beautiful lengths here! I never joined though because I've been maintaining at barely TBL with no plans for longer.

But... after many many months of feeling an urge to cut back a few inches to thicken the hemline, I'm finding that as I'm growing a bit to prep for the cut, I'm enjoying the extra length, and am actually contemplating classic for the first time! It's only about 3-1/2" away, so maybe maybe, hmmm...

In any case, this length range is I think my personal favourite, and I really love seeing all the beautiful photos that you all post here!

Hey guys, I am rejoining the TBL -> Classic club. :) So I was nearing mid-thigh as of late... but had a bit of a meltdown over my wispy ends during the weekend, so I had a giant chop and am now back at hip/TBL. I really miss the length, but my ends look muuuuuuuuuch better now and feel great. I also don't miss sitting on my hair constantly whenever I have it out, so I may be maintaining this length again for a while... we'll see. :)

Hair growth for me seemed really fast from waist to tailbone, but now that I'm here it seems like everything has slowed down again. Maybe it's that whole "getting over the hill" business, or maybe I'm damaging it too much at this length (I don't always keep it up). I just feel like I need some encouragement that someday I might actually get to classic even if it feels like I'm stalled. My ends still have thickness, it's not like I should be at terminal.

It's funny though, I don't necessarily know that I want to grow much longer, but this seeming-stall is bringing out my perversity and now I want to, just because it's harder.

Yeah, i know the feeling! Right now, my hair is about WL, and it seems like my hair is at a stall at that length. It seems like my growth has slowed down as well. Because, last year it was growing pretty fast but as soon as it got to this length it seems like it either stopped or it's stalling. I also thought that I might have been damaging it with blow-drying it for only 5 minutes 3 times a week, and I do wear it down a lot but I feel that, "What's the since in growing out or having long hair if you're gonna wear it up all of the time?" I love to show off my length or hair sometimes. I do wear it up the majority of the time at home but when I go out I wear it down.

I also wear my hair down a lot (I'm closing in on TBL) and I think the effects of it are really starting to show. Unfortunately my scalp really loves it when I wear my hair down or at the very least in a braid, but that's not helping the ends either. I can't wear buns all day, just a few hours comfortably. Then again, I already had pretty damaged ends from before, so it could just be that they need to go before my hair can grow properly past this length.

What I've been doing lately is wearing a big giant velvet scrunchie and just tucking my ends into it, it looks kind of weird but it saves my scalp and the ends :)

Ah, right! I tried that a few times with a regular hairtie (just cloth, no metal bits), but it was really hard to undo. It could work better with a scrunchie, but right now my ends are pitifully thin.

It felt like my hair would never ever get to waist. It finally got there after keeping it up and covered for the better part of a year, I rarely had it down. I do like my hair down while at home, though. I may just have to go back to those habits to get past this point.

Oh yeah, I know the feelings. After me trimming a couple of cm off after being waist length for 6 months I had to trim back to MBL this past June! But after that it's now almost back to WL! I bet yours did finally get there after keeping it up and covered for the better part of a year. Yeah, that's what I read a lot on here at the LHC about wearing it up all of the time instead of down. Well, I do that all of the time when I'm going out. I know that what works for me at this point for me to reach my goals like hip length and tailbone length next year is to do a lot of dustings, and with those that doesn't have to happen that often. Which is very good. I only have to do that once or twice a year at this point.

Hello everyone. I have finally reached tailbone after a 2 yr stall (courtesy of my counter-top gas stove - Duh!) I am looking to reach classic which is about 8 inches for me. Sophia_ I do the same thing with putting my hair in a short, ponytail braid with a scrunchie! We really need to come up with a name for that style. It seems to do a good job of protecting the ends, is easy to do, and doesn't hurt the scalp (at least for me - my hair is thin).

I think I’m 3 inches away Classic. I can’t get a good measure since my husband is always at work when I do a length check. My current avatar was maybe a month and a half ago. So I’ll get up another picture by the end of this month. Getting excited!!!

I'm out of this thread now. Didn't really worry much about my hair for the last couple of months and haven't been here too often either, but I decided to take a length picture today and now I'm definitely at classic, even with a bit of hair I can trim off In January and still be at CL:)

Hello everyone. I have finally reached tailbone after a 2 yr stall (courtesy of my counter-top gas stove - Duh!) I am looking to reach classic which is about 8 inches for me. I expect another 2 yrs to reach that goal. So I will continue to wear it up in the kitchen, braided at bedtime and always up when out. :)

Oh my goodness! That sounds scary. I'm so glad it's grown back.

I may be edging out of this thread... my hair is classic when stretched wet (even when drenched with water cascading from it, it's never straight), so not too far to grow now.

Well, my seasonal pic wants to tease me. My hand in the pic indicates classic, but the camera is levelled at midback so it's a little off the actual hemline length. However, even though my butt wants to throw the hemline outwards instead of under where classic is (butts can be buttheads), I'm calling it.

https://i.imgur.com/jOrEzWs.jpg

:cheese:

So, next year I'm off to the land of FTL... I just. Wow. I dreamt of these lengths all my life, but never thought I'd actually DO IT. It was always someone else who had, and was known for, their length; my younger sister, my cousin, a friend from school, my eldest daughter even, just not me (and I never wanted to step on toes). Well, now I'm revelling in the freedom of distance, time and actually being me. Wheeeeeeeeeee! Down she goes!

Hehehe, yup, we're like ships passing in the night. Thanks, AmaryllisRed! The last few milestones have caught me unawares, so that's always good. But wow, does classic seem to take foreeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeever (it was only around 17 months with trims, but it has a way of feeling like it's stalling a lot). Happy growing!

Noticed that my longest hairs were at tailbone at the beginning of the month. Left middle finger is just below my tailbone, pulling a small amount tight because braid waves.

Forgive the messy hair - it's wash day, but this is the only day I don't have to fight all of my hair's winter static floof.

something wonderfully encouraging happened yesterday and i felt i had to share it. I had a mini celebration in the shower. I had the DH check for sure. He confirmed what I thought to be true. I brushed out my curls under the water till they were almost straight and it reached that little cleft at the bottom of my butt and the laugh that came out of him at my reaction. I was just so super happy that i felt it brush that far down. for a while felt like i was getting nowhere, I even stopped measuring. Now i have a renewed sense of growing my hair that i may actually make it to classic. even though my hair was sopping wet i still felt really happy about my hair. Okay sorry for the babbling story, I was just a little proud. Carry on and happy growing all! :)

Congratulations, Luna Starsetta! :) It is an encouraging and good feeling when you have that type of hair, and you've accomplished something. Or, have reached a certain goal! I don't wash my hair in the shower anymore. I used to about 2 years ago. I wash it in the sink now. I can also share that this coming Saturday I'm planning on relaxing and straightening my hair! Right now, my hair is WL, and I have a good feeling that when my curly hair stretches from the relaxer it will be an inch or 2 below my waist!!!! I am so happy that I have accomplished that goal or milestone!!! :D

congratulations to you as well!!! Also thank you. Yes i understand completely! While I love my curls curse the shrinkage!! It's so hard to accurately measure keep it frizz free, healthy, and moisturized. Not to mention the difference my hair has come in just a year!! It lacked so much moisture and all i had was waves and the occasional baby curl. Although once I found out that deep conditioning worked for me my hair has really improved curl pattern wise.

yes very much so. i am happy with how my hair has improved and soon enough i'll be able to measure out classic stretched. might i add a suggestion? i found that heat super dries out and causes limp waves and very unhealthy ends. i suggest waning back on the heat heat damage is very hard to reverse. i am 2 years heat free and my hair has been so well behaved since then. along with my weekly moisturising masks from shea moisture the curls super love their products!

Calling it. Curly and dry and unstretched means chaos for measuring but I always want to be at the milestone dry and normally coiffed.

Hemline is not my favorite but classic with a solid hem will get more obvious as the year goes on I hope. May do some tiny trimming. I’m not too excited about moving longer just yet.

So I'm pretty sure I hit classic length just ever so barely a few weeks ago, or at least extremely close for the naked eye, however it was a bit anti-climactic since I already knew I was going to get a trim soon after. I got the trim last Thursday and had an inch taken off the ends so now I'm back a bit above classic but still very close. So I think I will make the goal of Classic by sometime in Spring 2019 after all. :)

I also think I might have been under the impression that my hair is suffering more than it is. I guess it's because the first time I grew my hair very long it was in almost perfect health, and this time around I had those few instances where it went through very damaging things. And yes, of course perfect or near-perfect hair health is the ideal, but I also have to remember that my hair's health is increasing based on my observations this past year and a half or so. The hairdresser I went to actually commented positively on the health of my hair, so along with my own thinking I took that as a good sign as well since I imagine a hairdresser is going to tell you their honest thoughts about that sort of thing.

Well, that's my update/musings. Anyway, I might start getting .5 inch trims rather than 1 inch from now on, it depends. Eventually once my hair is in better health maybe I will even go back to my old thing of really only getting a trim once a year, but we'll see. I think my natural state is very low maintenance but I also have to remember that my hair is getting longer than it has ever been now and thus might demand more trims. Who knows though, I'm figuring it all out as I go.

My hair is solid classic when wet again! :happydance: Took a year and a few months to grow back from my damage control trim to hip around Thanksgiving 2017. Mostly benign neglect over here. Also, I no longer worry about having to wash it more than normal due to something having messed up my wash schedule. I do so much better when hair is not the focus of my life.

Ok, maybe you guys can help me make a decision.. My goal is to get to Classic. Right now I'm hovering somewhere between classic and BCL, so I'm almosoooost there. Unfortunately, my ends are horrible! They're not as bad as they could be, but still. I'm struggling to decide whether or not to trim. Even just a S&D would take an inch at least, and I haven't had a real trim/cut in about 2 years, so I know they could use some love. What to do???

Dark40
February 3rd, 2019, 12:04 PM
If I were you I would just give those ends some tendering, loving, care by do a deep treatment instead of an inch trim. I'm sure that's probably all it needs. Especially, if you say your ends don't look as bad they could. When was the last time you've done a deep treatment? Or, a deep conditioning treatment? BTW, you are so blessed to be reaching between BCL and classic!! I wish I was at that stage right now. I've got a while before I reach that huge milestone! :) But I know that I will make it there someday soon!

Congratulations Luna Starsetta! Congratulations on your new mini milestone of 1 full inch of growth in one month!!!! :cheer: That is awesome!!! You are so blessed to be an inch off from classic now! I really wish that I was near there by now. I've got 5 or 6 more inches to go, and I believe it that I'll make it there sometime next year. Yes, it's always good to get a good S/D session.

Thank you! And I also have to add I love reading your replies! I'm sure your hair will be lovely at classic. I may stall at classic to trim away damage or maybe I'll S/D monthly or every other month to keep up on splits... Curse 15 year old me deciding that colored highlights were cool.... sigh I'll get all this color out soon enough...

You're welcome! Awwwww, I'm glad to hear that you love reading my replies! I also love reading your too! You are very sweet! :) Awww, that's sweet of you to say that you are sure my hair will be lovely at classic. I think it will too. I can't wait for it to get there. I've waited long enough for many years to try to get my hair that long. But I'm sure that I will get it there someday do soon! Yes, if you have damage from bleaching or coloring it's best to trim it away, and get rid of it. I remember last year back in June I stalled around WL! I thought that I would never grow past WL....geesh....but now I have! And, now I'm excited to say that I'm WL+! Yes, I also used to bleach my hair when I was younger in my mid 20s too. But I've come to realize that it is very damaging to the hair. So, I've stopped, and now I'm using only box dye every 4 months. Don't worry, you will cut away the color soon enough.

Aweee! I'm glad you like reading my replies! I understand WL I had almost TBL when I joined the LHC. I didn't know if my hair could grow any longer. I hadn also yet to see hair longer then mine or TBL until I looked up pictures of long hair. And I found a beautiful picture of naturally red curled hair on a women's wedding day her hair was so beautiful and I thought wow! If only my hair could look like that... And ever since then when I had a little above TBL hair I wanted it to be longer. I've been hair conscious for about 4 years but it was a super slow journey or learning about hair. And now I'm hyper focused on hair health and growth. Soon enough I'll cut away damage. And reach my dream length which I'm thinking may not be a dream much longer and if I reach FTL I may get Knee... We shall see after knee I'm pretty sure if stop. I decided against coloring ever again. Hair conscious and all!

Yes, it is quite the goal! Thank you for all of the luck and patience to reach that goal! Yes, I would love to post some pictures of my progress one day of my hair there! Yes, I know that I should stay clean from the color. I bet it did save your hair. I think since I only color 2 or 3 times a year I should be fine! Because, I keep my hair well-moisturized with conditioners, deep conditioning, and oils. I have a long time church friend of mine that had ankle length hair, and she kept it colored to a very bright red for a couple of years. During her graduating year that's when she went through the, "Big chop," and chopped it all off up to hip length, and then cut again all of the way up to shoulder length. I was really disappointed in her hair cut. Because, for many years I had admired her superlong hair!

Awwww, that's a total shame that your idol with the goruous red curls that had calf length uncurled she cut back to classic. Well, at least it's still pretty much long but I'm sure you wanted to see her keep it much longer, right? Oh yes, when that hair is long and processed you got it keep it well-moisturized! It does definitely help alright! I have a good girlfriend of mine in real life that used to have brown ankle length hair as a child, and when she got older during her high school years she colored her hair to a very beautiful bright red, and it was still to her ankles! It also looked very healthy and everything at that length! I've always often wondered how many boxes of hair color or how much hair coloring product she had to use on that amount of hair! LOL I've imagined like 10 to 20 boxes. Or, tons of hair coloring product at a salon if she was getting it done professoinally...lol, and her hair is very thick like Milady_DeWinter's hair.

Here is the thread about my friend's hair at ankle length:

Yeah I do miss her hair but I still have a screen shot of it. Lol. I thought shed stay around calf or at least FTL but sadly not. *shrugs* oh wow I would say she did have to use a lot of boxes to dye her hair at that length. Or how expensive it would be to color that much length at a salon. I myself am due for a S/D. However I have to invest in some lefty shears. Due to the fact that my soon to be hubby is left handed and I am going to have him S/D my hair. I imagine he will do well because he is a musician with some pretty talented hands so. I may have to post before and after pics... Thoughts?

Ok, that will be fine. I'll try to make it out. When I do S/D's or dustings it does help my hair to look and feel a lot better. Even if I just trim off 1cm. That's about how much I take off whenever there is a need to.

You are correct I'm an inch off last I measured I'll have the DH measure again on the 1st of march. I'm not trimming the rest if this year. If I do happens to change my mind I'll only be cutting the colored ends. But time will tell since I'm getting married on the 10th of July hopping to visibly hit classic without pulling it straight... Classic being the bottom of my pockets, I don't have too far to go. Maybe two to three months?

But the shrinkage is real. I probably won't hit classic unstretched until summer.

This is interesting. When I was in college I wanted "mermaid hair" that would cover my top half...I know so silly! Then I saw girls with waist length hair and thought "ooh that is so pretty too!" so I maintained there for a while. Then I thought hmmm can I go longer and I tried to make up a hair growth chart with coloring in each length and computing how long it would be before each time. My mom wanted me to cut some off for my sister's wedding, I was really sad about that but I did it. It was her day so.... I finally grew that 3 inches back plus another 1.5 inches. Right now I am at 39.5, classic is...44 inches...so if I do not cut it I can get there in 8 months which is October this year? If I do get a trim, maybe more in time for Christmas. The plan after I get to classic is to maintain for a year or two that length before growing to knee...maybe...I don't know...I kind of just let my hair do its thing...and that was a really long ramble so sorry!

My original goal was getting past waist! Every length goal now is "hmm, I wonder if..."

bparnell75, congratulations on your new milestone! :) I bet you would've been happy with it being at tailbone....Yes, go for classic to say that you can at least do it. :-)

No matter how long my hair grows, it doesn't seem "long" to me and I still feel myself to be a short-hair.

Yeah, me too also feels that no matter how long my hair is it still feels short. But I once I reach hip length and beyond it will start to feel really long.

March pictures. Still not happy with the wurliness of the ends I've encountered since about tailbone length but I think it's most likely due to taper which will hopefully thicken up with more frequent trims I recently started. About 2" away from classic where I plan to maintain to hopefully get a straight, solid hemline. I've included a couple of pictures due to the different lighting (my fine hair looks crazy different in even minor lighting shifts!).

Okay, okay... so i have had a few busy days and haven't really been here much... BUT.... i had the DH measure my hair and he called 40 INCHES!!! Aka MY classic length!!!! :joy: i can't tell you how excited i am! now i was going to take a picture but it would throw off my monthly hair photos so i have decided to take the next month photo and post that. so i can't call classic unstretched. but i can call it at least another step closer to calling it officially. i have now passed classic while wet and classic when stretched dry. the next step will be a painful classic unstretched. curse the curls for shrinkage... but i do so love my curls. just had to chime in here with an update post! i'll post my length shot on the 20th like normal.

Wow! Your hair is so gorgeous! I think once you microtrim those ends it will keep continuing to get thicker as it grows. BTW, I love the sound of classic length on you! Especially, with that color. It is gorgeous! :)

Tailbone seems to be one hell of a milestone to get past. Looking at my ends in the sun makes me shiver. So many damn splits and white dots and this is after maintaining from July to December

Haha the disadvantage to sunshine!

Seriously, though, I did find a ton of splits a few weeks ago and decided to be more dedicated about wearing my hair up. I think between tailbone and classic must be a critical zone for damage. Lots of friction-- if I have mine down, it's rubbing on everything. Even in braids, the ends are seeing damage. For me, I think I really need to wear it up all the time, especially since I don't trim.
(She says as she sits on the couch with her hair down. Doh!)

I’m back here again! Chopped off inches of my hair, and got a deep U shaped cut, and i’m back to tailbone. Really regretting the haircut, i miss my length so badly, but at least my hemline is really solid now. *tried to console self*

I’ll take some when the light is better. Dark hair can be so hard to photograph
